Auburn

Designed with well-considered materials such as solid white oak, limestone slab, and leather, Auburn echoes the comforts of a friend’s home. To honor the history of the Melrose Avenue building—the former home of various LA outposts including Hat eld’s and Citrus—designers Jon and Maša Lončarič Kleinhample of locally based Klein Agency balanced old and new with bespoke elements alongside abundant vegetation and natural light. The rm celebrated chef Eric Bost’s food with “passion and cra through a seamlessly intertwined approach toward honesty in space, hospitality, and food,” says Kleinhample, though the eatery has shu‡ ered as a result of COVID-19. Large incisions in the patio’s wooden ceiling structure, for instance, opened the main dining area up to the sky, creating a welcoming landscape in the midst of the city.
