1. Tourist Arrivals

From 1st January 2021 to 28th April 2021, a total of 383,630 tourists arrived in the Maldives.

The top source market for the tourist arrival was India with 86,127 arrivals, followed by Russia with 83,443 tourist arrivals. Ukraine stood third with 20,626 tourist arrivals. Other top source markets include Germany, Kazakhstan, USA, United Kingdom, Romania, Czech Republic and France.

Markets are recovering with impressive results. As of 27th April 2021, the Central/Eastern Europe, South Asia and Africa region surpassed pre-COVID levels, pos�ng above average growth rates of +171.0%, +136.4% and +52.3% respec�vely. Individual markets within the Central/Eastern European region are also performing with outstanding results as new markets emerge from this region and making it to top 10 list.

Maldives Launches ‘I’m Vaccinated’ Campaign Visit Maldives together with the Ministry of Tourism launches "I'm Vaccinated" campaign in order to share a posi�ve message regarding the vaccina�on of staff working in the tourism sector as well as promo�ng the ini�a�ves undertaken to ensure the Maldives remains one of the safest des�na�ons in the world for travelers.

Under this campaign, the ul�mate target is to make Maldives the first fully vaccinated tourism sector in the world. Along with the unique geographical forma�on of the islands which offer natural physical distancing, and the stringent health and safety measures in place, a fully vaccinated tourism sector will become an added advantage in encouraging tourists to visit the des�na�on. The campaign was launched during a special press event held on 28th April 2021 organized by Visit Maldives and the Ministry of Tourism. The event was joined by the of Tourism, of the Ministry of Health, Secretary General of Guesthouse Associa�on of Maldives and Vice Chairman of Maldives Associa�on of Tourism Industry.

MITDC Board Members Ini�ates Discussions with Ministry of Tourism The Chairman of Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corpora�on, Mr. Abdulla Naseer along with its Managing Director, Mr. Mohamed Raaidh and Board of Directors meet with the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom. The newly formed Tourism Diversifica�on Unit members of the Ministry of Tourism joined this mee�ng with the Minister. Discussions were focused on rejuvena�ng integrated tourism development in the Maldives.
