JVC has been an official partner of the UEFA European Football Championship since 1980 when the tournament was held in Italy. UEFA EURO 2004TM will be the seventh consecutive championship to receive JVC support. In addition to UEFA EURO 2004TM, JVC will also sponsor the UEFA Women’s European Championship in 2005 and the UEFA Under-21 Championship in 2004. Commenting on the announcement, Gerhard Aigner, Chief Executive of UEFA said: "UEFA EURO 2004™ promises to be the single biggest and most successful sporting event to be held in Portugal and we are pleased that JVC, as one of UEFA's most loyal partners - dating back to the UEFA European Championship of 1980 - has agreed to continue this partnership for the forthcoming UEFA EURO 2004™." “As an integral part of the Partnership Agreement, UEFA is delighted to announce that JVC has agreed to supply a diverse range of its state-of-the-art Audiovisual & Multimedia systems and expertise which will further support a successful organisation of the event.” JVC President Masahiko Terada said: “The UEFA European Football Championship is one of the most important sporting events we sponsor, and we feel extremely privileged to be able to share the excitement of UEFA EURO 2004TM with the people of Europe.
