GENERAL COMMENT

This is the first report from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue to the newly formed Coatbridge L.A.P. since the recent Local Government elections.

The report contains activity levels detailed by Ward and also includes an update on current initiatives within the Fire and Rescue Service that may impact on partners within the L.A.P.

The contents of the report are designed to keep partners up to date on the current situation within the Fire and Rescue Service and any comments regarding the report and it's usefulness will be welcomed. ACTIVITY

The activity levels for the first six months of 2007 are included in this report. The figures will act as a guide to any trends arising within the L.A.P. area. Due to the relatively low numbers involved, it is intended to provide future statistics for activity on a three monthly basis. However where a trend is becoming apparent or a sharp increase in activity is noticed, the partners will be made aware of this to try to identify any appropriate action to take. 1 ACTIVITY LEVELS False Alarm JAN 2 Apparatus Ward

'CUT IT OUT' This initiative, which is designed to target S6 pupils, provides an interactive programme on the dangers to young drivers and those who have recently passed their driving test.

The take up by schools in the Coatbridge L.A.P. area has beenl00% and a programme has been drawn up for the new school term which should be completed by the end of October. Funding was provided by Community Safety Partnership and amounted to around &30000.

It is intended to take a limited version of the project to three special needs schools including Drumpark in Coatbridge.

'FIRE REACH'

This initiative is run at Coatbridge Fire Station and is a five-day programme aimed at young people who are on the fringes of the education system. Three courses have been completed so far and funding is now in place for the next financial year. The North Lanarkshire C.S.P again provided the funding of approximately &30000.

OTHER INITIATIVES

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue is involved in both funding and participation in several other local initiatives in the Coatbridge area including 'Score Goals', 'On Course', 'Safer Seniors' and 'Big Choices'. More information on these projects will be included in future reports as these initiatives progress.
