Welcome to a diverse community of archetypes who take one another at face value: a smiling face dealing with depression; a princess who doesn’t want a prince; a skull dying for deletion; a nerd face too smart for his own good; a face with sunglasses who can’t see past his own reflection; and a police officer and construction worker who just want to work together. When a software update threatens to destroy life as they know it, EMOJILAND faces the most fundamental questions a society – and a heart – can face: Who are we? And who matters? An electric ensemble piece featuring an energetic pop score, the production enjoyed a sold-out run at the New York Musical Festival, where it was critically acclaimed by The New York Times as being “charmingly silly fun,” “politically resonant” and “a lesson for our time.” EMOJILAND comes to Off-Broadway with a cavalcade of Broadway favorites, including George Abud (The Band’s Visit), Felicia Boswell (Motown), Max Crumm (Disaster!, Grease) Ann Harada (Avenue Q, Cinderella), Josh Lamon (The Prom), Lesli Margherita (Matilda), Lucas Steele (The Great Comet), and Natalie Weiss (Les Miz, American Idol). Cole Albert Porter (June 9, 1891 October 15, 1964) was an American composer and songwriter. Born to a wealthy family in Indiana, he defied the wishes of his dom ineering grandfather and took up music as a profession. Classically trained, he was drawn towards musical theatre. After a slow start, he began to achieve succe ss in the 1920s, and by the 1930s he was one of the major songwriters for the Br oadway musical stage. Unlike many successful Broadway composers, Porter wrote th e lyrics as well as the music for his songs. After a serious horseback riding accident in 1937, Porter was left disabled and in constant pain, but he continued to work. His shows of the early 1940s did not contain the lasting hits of his best work of the 1920s and 30s, but in 1948 he made a triumphant comeback with his most successful musical, Kiss Me, Kate. It w on the first Tony Award for Best Musical. Porter's other musicals include Fifty Million Frenchmen, DuBarry Was a Lady, Any thing Goes, Can-Can and Silk Stockings. His numerous hit songs include "Night an d Day","Begin the Beguine", "I Get a Kick Out of You", "Well, Did You Evah!", "I 've Got You Under My Skin", "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" and "You're the Top". He also composed scores for films from the 1930s to the 1950s, including Born to D ance (1936), which featured the song "You'd Be So Easy to Love", Rosalie (1937), which featured "In the Still of the Night"; High Society (1956), which included "True Love"; and Les Girls (1957).

The Society was founded in 1926 and, during the past 92 years, has undergone a number of permutations which were the result of the many political and social shifts over the 20th Century. Originally, the Society exclusively helped children of Russian decent outside of Russia who were victims of the Russian Revolution and World Wars I & II. Eventually Europe, followed by South America, became self-sufficient and the Society refocused its efforts on helping children in Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union. For the past two decades, the Society has devoted all of its aid to Russia. The Society’s primary activities include: pediatric maxillofacial surgery in partnership with the Russian Aid Foundation; a successful college scholarship program currently supporting 157 students; assisting vetted orphanages; and hosting an an- nual Christmas “Yelka” party where over 1,000 orphans from across Russia celebrate an unforgettable day in Moscow.
