Mr Malcolm Mackerras AO

Malcolm Mackerras was born in 1939 and completed a BEc at the in 1962. Early in his career he worked as a Research Officer for the Federal Secretariat of the Liberal Party in and then with the Chamber of Manufacturers as an economist.

He joined the Department of Government at the Royal Military College Duntroon in 1974 and, until his retirement in February 2004, he taught both Australian and US politics at Duntroon and later at the Australian Defence Force Academy.

Malcolm’s entire career to date has been in the field of political and economic analysis. In his capacity as an academic since 1970 he has been a prolific contributor to newspapers and magazines on political matters.

He's best known for his commentary on Australian and New Zealand elections and for devising "The Mackerras Pendulum" which is a way of predicting the outcome of elections by reflecting swings in electorates.

On Day in January 2006 he was recipient of Australia’s second- highest honour when he was appointed an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AO).

Currently he is a Visiting Fellow in Political Science, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, at the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra.

Dr Graeme Starr

Graeme is an independent consultant, writer and lecturer with qualifications in Government, Political Science and Public Administration from major universities in Australia, and the , where he was awarded his PhD as a Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellow.

He has an extensive list of publications and has taught post-graduate university courses in the specialist fields of Government-Business Relations, Issues Management and Politics and Public Policy.

Graeme has many years of experience as an adviser to prime ministers and other federal ministers, political management and private consultancy in Canberra and Washington.

Travelling by car From Sydney CBD, take the M4 Western Motorway and take the exit at the James Ruse Drive interchange. Note that the M4 is a tollway. Turn right onto James Ruse Drive. Take the Road exit and turn right at the traffic lights. Turn right again from Victoria Road to enter the campus.
