Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavasson noseband. Horses should be plaited. To take part in this class, horses must NOT have won an ridden open class under any affiliated showing society including (inc SEIB/HOYS, BSHA, SHB(GB) BSPS, BSPA, RoR Tattersalls Show Series Qualifier, TARRA Ridden, RoR AMATEUR Ridden Show Series Qualifier or any other open class except RoR TBA Challenge Show Series or other Working Hunter type classes. Horses may remain in RoR Jockey Club Novice Show Series classes until they have won (win) 3 RoR Jockey Club Novice Show Series Qualifiers. CLASS 24 ROR AMATEUR RIDDEN SHOW SERIES QUALIFIER 2022 – SPONSORED BY TATTERSALLS Open to all RoR and NR competition registered horses, 4yrs and over, mares and geldings, owned, produced and ridden by an Amateur. Riders must be 15 years or over on the 1st January 2021. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, Pelham or simple double bridle with a plain cavasson noseband. Horses should be plaited. The Series is open to AMATEURS only – those employed in racing will be allowed to compete. Class will be judged under ‘riding horse’ format without ‘type’ being taken into consideration. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series This class is a qualifier for the RoR Amateur Ridden Show Series FINAL. The Judge will not ride at the qualifiers but will ride in the final. The first three go forward to the final at the Hickstead Derby Meeting 2022 Rosettes 1st - 6th. Prizes - 1st £30 plus RoR Gift 2nd £20, 3rd £10 RoR prizes will not be awarded to RoR qualifiers with numbers forward of two or less, however qualification for the final will stand.

Amateur definition: The rules are as in the rulebook with the following addition that an amateur may not show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm. In addition a person classed as amateur must not be supported by a company in any way or act as brand ambassador whether financially or in-kind. An amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season: Engage (d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses in a commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer's/Trainer's yard from January 1st 2020 Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not receive any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current season. A rider who has ridden for a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season must not have ridden horses at a show.

Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes.

CLASS 27 SIDE SADDLE CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE- The sole criterion for this Class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the judge may ask groups of three or four riders to give short displays. A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards. NB Silk hats are permitted to be worn by Adults IN THIS CLASS AT ANY TIME OF DAY. Juniors must wear hats to current British Safety Standards or above must be worn for this Class. Adult riders not wearing such hats do so at their own risk.

CLASS 28 VETERAN HORSE OR PONY RIDDEN SIDE SADDLE (OPEN TO HORSE/PONIES 15 YRS AND OVER) TO BE JUDGED ON MANNERS, WAY OF GOING, MOVEMENT, SUPPLENESS FOR AGE AND TURNOUT.

Phase one – Equitation Riders will enter the ring together and will be asked to walk, trot and canter on both reins followed by a short free style individual show. The Judge will take into account the rider’s: effectiveness, balance, straightness, suppleness and poise. Phase two - Tack & Turnout To be judged on: correct fit of tack, rider’s attire and turnout of the horse or pony. Phase three – Equitation Jumping Riders may choose the height of fences: 1’ (30cms) 2’ (61cms) 2’3” (70cms) 2’6” (76cms) 2’9” (84cms) - (preferred height MUST be stated on entry form) The Judge will take into account the rider’s: effectiveness, accuracy, rhythm and energy, position, security, balance and straightness throughout the course. (Fence heights will not be taken into account) A mark out of 10 will be awarded for each fence and overall impression. Penalty marks will be deducted as follows: knock down- 2pts, 1st refusal-4pts, 2nd refusal-8 pts. 3rd refusal- elimination, crossing own track- 4pts, fall of horse or rider- elimination. The top 4 riders with the lowest aggregate of place points from phases one, two and three will go forward to a Ride-Off for the title of: “The Aintree “Master Class of the Masters 2019- Rider of the year” Riders will enter the ring together, they will have 5 minutes to perform a free style show which must include the following compulsory movements: walk, trot, canter, medium trot, medium canter and leg yield on both reins. The judges will take into account the rider’s effectiveness and influence over their horse whilst maintaining balance, elegance and poise. Horsemanship skills and overall impression. There will be a trophy for the winner kindly donated by Cath Marchbank.

The Adult Winner will receive a ‘Top Hat Perpetual Trophy’ kindly donated by Cath Marchbank. The Junior Ride off & Senior Ride off will take place during the evening performance.

CLASS 31 SIDE SADDLE RIDING CLUB HORSE OR PONY Open to horses and ponies 4 yrs old or over. Riders will be required to give a short show including a small jump, maximum height 61 cms (2’) excluding the national show. The height may be adjusted during the course of the Class at the judge's discretion. The Class shall be judged on the show, the manners of the horse/ pony, and its suitability for the rider. Confirmation will not be considered. A special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed registered Adult and Junior member of the S.S.A. Hats to current British safety standards must be worn.

CLASS 32 COSTUME CONCOURS D’ÉLÉGANCE (SATURDAY EVENING PERFORMANCE) picture of elegance and dress depicting an era of bygone times, side saddle or astride. Side Saddle Costume Concours d’Élégance Rules:- The sole criterion of this Class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse/pony and rider, and the way of going of the horse/pony. Safe tack must be used. Detailed inspection of the rider’s period costume is not required. Fancy dress is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask small groups of riders to give short displays. 2 Special rosettes will be awarded: to the highest placed Registered Adult members and the highest placed Registered Junior Member of the S.S.A. carrying their current Championship Points Cards. Competitors should do a brief résumé about their costume for the Commentator. Junior must wear hats to current British Safety Standards for this Class. Adult riders not wearing such hats do so at their own risk.

AINTREE INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE SUNDAY 27TH JUNE - INTERNATIONAL INDOOR ARENA JUDGE: MRS V HODGETT CLASS 33 THE SIDE SADDLE ASSOCIATION EQUITATION ADULT QUALIFYING CLASS Run under S.S.A. Rules defined in the current Member’s Handbook. Open to Adult members and Non- Members aged 18 or over on 1st January of the current year. Members carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for S.S.A. rosettes to 3rd place and S.S.A. Championship Points. A rosette in memory of The Late Mr R Philpot is offered to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. QUALIFIER FOR THE SIR LANCELOT MEMORIAL TROPHY A Special rosette will be offered to the Adult Member, carrying their current Championship Points Card, of the SSA Area in which the Show is organised, who during the Equitation Qualifier Class (irrespective of final placing) is judged to be the most elegant. That member will be eligible to compete in the Final for the Sir Lancelot Memorial Trophy (donated by the late Mrs E. Skelton) at the National Side Saddle Show. A Member may only qualify once per season between one National Show and the next, and if the Judge’s first choice has already qualified, the rosette will be awarded to the next eligible competitor.

CLASS 34 THE SIDE SADDLE ASSOCIATION EQUITATION JUNIOR QUALIFYING CLASS Run under S.S.A. Rules defined in the current Member’s Handbook. Open to Junior Members and Non- Members aged under 14 on 1st January of the current year. Members carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for S.S.A. rosettes to 3rd place & S.S.A. Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed member under 14 on 1st January of the current year. Class 35 BEST HORSE OR PONY RIDDEN SIDE SADDLE Open to horses and ponies 4 years old or over: conformation & manners will be taken into consideration; horses/ponies will not be stripped. A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards. The Highest placed coloured exhibit ridden by a competitor aged 16rs or over (who has not already qualified) receives a Special Rosette and qualifies for the Side Saddle Final at the CHAPS Championship Show. Open to any type of exhibit. Riders/Owners need not be a member or their exhibit registered with CHAPS at the time of qualification, but in order to compete at the Championships, the Rider/Owner must be a showing member and their horse/pony registered with CHAPS before entering the final. Lead Rein competitors are eligible for this class. Leaders must be correctly dressed.

CLASS 36 THE SSA CLASSICAL LADIES QUALIFYING CLASS CLASSICAL LADIES SIDE SADDLE QUALIFIER Open to SSA Adult Members and Non-members, aged 18 and over on January 1st of the current year, riding side saddle, on horses exc. 148cm (14.2hh). To be judged 25% conformation and action, 25% manners & way of going, 25% rider, and 25% turnout of horse & rider, by a SHBGB, BSHA, BSPS, P(UK) or SSA Panel Judge. Judges may request a short show, but will not ride exhibits; horses will not be stripped. Traditional habits must be worn. Fancy Dress and Period Costumes NOT permitted. NB Silk hats are permitted to be worn in this class AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY. Judges are requested to use the mark sheet provided. The highest placed horse/rider combination qualifies for the Final to be held at the National Side Saddle Show. In the event of previous qualification, this may be passed down to fourth place. Special rosettes are offered by Mrs T Mitchell & Mr L Mitchell to the winner and if the winner has already qualified, a second rosette is awarded with the Qualification Card. Qualifying combinations are required to become Full Members of the SSA 21 days prior to the National Side Saddle Show or as soon as possible if qualified after that date to be eligible to be eligible to compete at the Final. Combinations qualifying between one National Side Saddle Show and the next may carry forward the qualification, for that year only. AINTREE INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE The highest placed Riding Horse, Hack (not exceed 160cm), Cob or Hunter, Mare or Gelding, 4 years and over, ridden by a SSA Adult Member qualifies for the current year’s BSHA Championship Show DMSL Phone Systems Ladies Show Horse Championship and if already qualified the ticket will go to the next highest placed horse down to 5th place. Combinations qualifying after the current year’s BSHA Championship Show may carry forward the qualification, to the following year. SSA Members who qualify for The Ladies Show Horse Championship, will not be required to join the BSHA in order to compete in any Side Saddle class at the BSHA National Championship Show. If the BSHA Championship Show entries have closed at the time of qualification, competitors will not be charged a late entry fee for the Championship.

AINTREE INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE Aintree International Equestrian Centre (Trading as Aintree Racecourse Developments Limited) Terms and Conditions 1. These Terms and Conditions apply to all competitors and spectators and must be adhered to at all times. Entry into any competition, including the hire of the Centre, shall be deemed an acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. 2. Please also refer to the Aintree Racecourse Terms and Conditions which can be found at http://aintree.thejockeyclub.co.uk/pr-policies/terms- conditions. 3. All persons entering onto the Racecourse, by virtue of admission, agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and the General Rules of the Competition. 4. Aintree International Equestrian Centre and Aintree Racecourse reserve the right to refuse entry/hire without stating the reason, and to cancel the competition and all rights of admission. 5. Any person causing any damage, disruption or unwanted behaviour will be asked to leave the premises and will not be permitted to participate any further in the show. 6. Aintree International Equestrian Centre and Aintree Racecourse do not accept any responsibility or liability for any injury, accident, damage or illness to any person, property or animal whatsoever, or for any loss whatsoever, arising out of, or occurring at any competition, show or event. It shall be a condition of entry/hire of the Centre that each entrant shall indemnify the organisers against any legal action whatsoever arising from any accident. 7. All competitors and attendees must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the officials and stewards. 8. Parents or guardians are deemed responsible for their children and they must be supervised at all times. 9. Please also note that the Collecting Ring area is for the purpose of warming up. It is strictly not a viewing or standing area, nor is it to be used by anyone other than those entered in the current class. 10. BRITISH STANDARD APPROVED HARD HATS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN MOUNTED. Full and correct attire must be worn by all competitors when competing or hiring the Centre. For show jumping all competitors and grooms, when mounted, must wear a British Standard skull/hard hat, which must be fastened. Failure to do so will incur elimination. 11. Any individual seen to be causing distress or suffering to any animal will be asked to leave the Racecourse and may be reported to the appropriate authorities. 12. No horse or pony under the age of 4 years shall be ridden at any competition. 13. Any persons responsible for a stallion must ensure that they are secure at all times including within the stables and the collecting ring, and correctly displaying the appropriate FEI approved ribbons and discs. 14. All horses and ponies competing or using the Centre must be fully vaccinated against equine flu, and must not have had any vaccination in the 6 days prior to attending. 15. Vaccination requirements for stabling may vary from time to time, as dictated by the British Horseracing Authority. Please see individual event page for details. Important updates will be published on our website and on our social media pages. 16. Horses and/or ponies must not be left unattended at any time when tied outside Horseboxes or trailers. 17. No horse and/or pony may be lunged in any area of the Racecourse. Strictly no lunging in the arena or collecting ring. 18. Competitors are requested, prior to leaving, to clean up any droppings, hay, straw or shavings from around their horsebox/trailer and to dispose of these at home. 19. Dogs must be kept on leads AT ALL TIMES and must be cleaned up after. Failure to do this will result in you being asked to leave the Racecourse. No dogs are allowed on the Racecourse track or in the stable yards AT ANY TIME. 20. It is recommended that all vehicles are fitted with a fire extinguisher. 21. Aintree International Equestrian Centre reserves the right to alter any schedule at any time without prior notice. Closing dates for all shows may be altered if the classes are full. 22. All entry and hire fees include VAT@20%. All entries and hire fees must be paid for in full prior to leaving the Centre. A £15 administration fee will be payable on any outstanding accounts or dishonoured cheques, plus interest. 23. No entry or stable fees will be refunded, unless the show is cancelled due to Covid 19 reasons. 24. Prize money not collected on the day will be forfeited. 25. If stables are in use for a show, a £20 cash deposit must be paid to the Stable Manager on arrival and will be returned once the stable has been inspected and has been fully emptied of bedding and hay. 26. Smoking is strictly forbidden in the stable area and in all buildings. Cigarette butts must be disposed of safely and in the bins provided. 27. All vehicles should be parked sensibly and enough room must be left for emergency access. 28. Any competitor who is considered by the organisers, stewards, judges to have received outside assistance without prior permission, will be eliminated from their Class. 29. It is the owners/riders responsibility to ensure that horses/ponies are the correct height for their class. 30. The decision of the Judge on the day in all classes will be final. 31. Photographs will be taken at Equestrian and Racecourse events by a professional, licenced photographer who has been approved by ARDL. Aintree reserve the right to use these photographs for advertising purposes to promote future events. No other photographers are permitted to photograph the event. 32. Aintree Racecourse Developments Ltd use Horse Monkey as their chosen event administration system. Entry form details will be added to this system to inform competitors that their entries have been received. If competitors do not wish for this information to be shared with our chosen entry system, then we will not be able to process and accept your entry. 33. Please also refer to our Privacy Policy. 34.
