What’s a Seawolf? I’m a Seawolf!

In an effort to revamp the team’s inconsistent play, the Lizards added rookie midfielder Jeff Reh to the active roster for the game on Saturday, July 15th against the Charlotte Hounds. New York selected Reh in the eighth round, 70th overall in the 2017 MLL Collegiate Draft out of Stony Brook University. The Sound Beach, New York native made the most out of his first opportunity as with 4:59 remaining in the first, Reh caught a pass in front of the net from Rob Pannell. Reh faked a shot to the top of the net and then shot the ball down and past the keeper for his first career goal to put New York up 3-1 over Charlotte.

The MANny of the Hour

All Will Manny has done since his acquisition from the Boston Cannons on June 27th is get the ball in the net. The Massapequa native has scored 9 goals in three games since the trade, including five in his first game in New York. In 12 games this season between Boston and New York, Manny has been nothing but brilliant, scoring 27 goals, adding 12 assists, and totaling 39 points on the year. The attackman is currently in fourth place in all of in both goals (27) and points (39), and looks to add to his season total when he rumbles it out on Thursday, July 20th against … you guessed it, the Boston Cannons.

Week 13 Pregame Notes/Recap

It’s now or never for the New York Lizards (5-6), as the team needs a victory against the last place Boston Cannons (3-7) if they are to stay competitive in the playoff standings. Last time out, the Lizards played a well-balanced game against a tough Charlotte Hounds team, eventually winning by a score of 14-11. Rob Pannell provided the offense, netting four goals and tallying one assist on the night. Paul Rabil continued his torrid streak of outstanding play, adding two goals in the contest. The veteran midfielder not only leads the team in points, but he also leads all of MLL with 41 points. Greg Gurenlian was truly a “Beast” as he won 19-of-29 faceoffs and even scored two goals in the third quarter, both on faceoffs he won and took the distance. Although allowing three late goals in the fourth, Drew Adams displayed why he’s one of the best in the business as he saved 17 shots while allowing only 11 goals in the win against Charlotte.

What to Look Out For

Milestones in the Making

In the past two games against the Atlanta Blaze and Charlotte Hounds, multiple New York Lizards have pulled off some pretty incredible feats. By adding two more games to his resume, Drew Adams pasted John Gagliardi for second most games played by a New York Lizard with 105 games. Against the Atlanta Blaze, Paul Rabil netted three goals, including two two-pointers and added an assist. After his past game against Charlotte, he scored another two goals and has passed Keith Cromwell for fifth all-time on the most points compiled by a Lizard.
