New GT CELEBRATION™ Race Series Updates Schedule For 2020 and Driver/Car Registration Now Open

GT3 Bronze-rated Sports Car series sets Driver, Car, Tech, Sporting Regs in 1st Year

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (March 27, 2020) – Due to recent COVID-19 virus shutdown, the new GT Celebration Race Series, a 12-race, six-weekend GT3 sports car campaign, has adjusted its 2020 schedule with the original season opener at Thunderhill Raceway Park now being moved to July 31- August 2 as the third weekend of the newly-established motorsports tour.

In addition, Rob Morgan, CEO and Founder of the GT Celebration Race Series, is working closely with officials on the scheduled May 15-17 weekend if that three-day event might also need to be rescheduled. That information will be determined in the near future.

As the 2020 season moves forward now, the GT Celebration Race Series has now opened its driver and car registration portals with online registration through the series official website, www.gtcelebration.com. Now is a good time to select the driver’s car number and pick up the team’s sticker kits early.

The GT Celebration Race Series was launched to feature Bronze-rated and below drivers with “retired” FIA GT3 race cars and generate a “fun” overall weekend atmosphere setting throughout the three-day race events.

Recently, the new Technical and Sporting regulations were instituted by the series officials and are also available at www.gtcelebration.com.

“We would like to thank the officials at Thunderhill Raceway Park for their understanding in the current COVID-19 crisis,” said Morgan, a former NASCAR and IMSA driver as well as sanctioning body official.

“We were excited for the Thunderhill event as we had 12-14 entries expected for the opener. We were able to adjust our series scheduling with the track quickly and efficiently and produce a strong overall series for our racers. With the current worldwide situation with COVID-19, we will keep our competitors, sponsors, officials and fans abreast of any other changes which might occur. Our series will have a ‘no- pressure’ environment and the opportunity for drivers to hone on-track skills as well as enjoy friendly competition in some of the world’s most capable machinery at some of the best racetracks in the country.”

The GT Celebration Race Series will execute a two-tiered racing series which features a RED designation (for newer-model cars, i.e. Porsche 991) and YELLOW designation (for older-model cars, i.e. Porsche 997). Each race weekend will consist of two 40-minute sprint races on Saturday and Sunday.

The GT Celebration racing weekends will include three 30-minute practice sessions on Friday. The Saturday and Sunday schedule consists of a 30-minute practice, 20-minute qualifying, and 40-minute race. All 2020 GT Celebration events will be contested in conjunction with the popular Porsche Trophy West series.

The new GT Celebration Race Series will utilize “social” events as a key component in the six-weekend circuit, but the “on-track” action will be the central theme to the GT Celebration Race Series. A GT Celebration Race Series hospitality area will be an important location for the series officials, competitors and sponsors to communicate “on-track” and “off-track” objectives that would include potential “business to business” relationships.

From the technical side of the new series, Chief Scrutineer Chris Doyle is currently completing the series’ technical rulings and “Balance of Performance” readings which should be released in the next few weeks.
