JACQUELINE, MÓ6~LLA NOVA MÚSICA EN COLOMBIA entro de sus colecciones, el Centro de Documentación Musical de la Dirección de Artes del Ministerio de Cultura, cuenta con valiosos manuscritos originales que son el testimonio material de la creación musical de compositores colombianos en su gran mayoría desconocidos. En 1 su interés por hacer conocer el valor y la importancia de este patrimonio musical, el Centro de Documentación Musical, en asociación con la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango del Banco de la República y con el Departamento de Música de la facultad de artes y humanidades de la Universidad de los Andes, se han vinculado al proyecto de recuperación y difusión del patrimonio musical colombiano, el cual, en esta ocasión, está dedicado a la compositora colombiana Jacqueline Nova Sondag (1935-1975) al cumplirse 25 años de su fallecimiento. Como resultado de la investigación realizada por el Centro de Documentación Musical sobre la vida y obra de la compositora, se ha programado una serie de actividades académicas y culturales que reflejan su .importancia en el ámbito musical colombiano y latinoamericano. Viajó luego a Moscú e ingresó al Conservatorio Chaikovski a la clase del profesor emérito Vladimir Natanson' en 1983 le fue conferido el título de maestría en las especialidades de pianista concertista pianista acompañante y profesor de piano. En 1971 obtuvo el tercer premio del concurso UNEAC en Cuba. En 1982 participó en el Concurso Internacional Digitalizado por la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango del Banco de la República, Colombia. Paloma ü'Shea (España) y recibió mención y diploma. En 1987 le fue otorgado el Premio de la CMBF (Radio Musical Nacional de Cuba) por su labor de divulgación musical a través de grabaciones de concierto; el mismo año recibió el Gran premio EGREM de La Habana asignado al mejor disco en música de cámara. Como recitalista y solista de orquesta ha realizado giras y presentaciones en Cuba, Bélgica, España, Japón (donde grabó un CD), República Ucraniana, República Federativa Rusa, Checoslovaquia, Alemania y Colombia. Ha participado como solista en los festivales Janácek (Checoslovaquia) y Stunder der Musik (Alemania). Además de programas para la televisión cubana, ha grabado especiales por invitación de la televisión alemana. En Cuba ha sido docente de las especialidades de piano en el Instituto Superior de Arte, ISA; algunos de sus alumnos han sido laureados en concursos y festivales 3 internacionales. Actualmente está radicado en Colombia y es profesor en la Universidad de los Andes y en la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional. MARTHA ENNA RODRÍGUEZ Pianista - Colombia Realizó estudios de pedagogía musical y piano en el departamento de música de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Sus profesores fueron Inés de Tanaka Pablo Aré alo y Mireya Arboleda. Su trabajo La lúdica, integrante del proceso creativo, dirigido por el maestro BIas Emilio Atehortúa y presentado para optar al título de pedagogía musical fue laureado. Durante ocho años (1978-1986) fue directora y productora del programa Ciclos de música antigua de Musicar F .M. Stereo de Bogotá. A partir de 1981 ha asistido regularmente a los cursos latinomericanos de música contemporánea en calidad de alumna, conferencista invitada y docente. Gracias a estos cursos tuvo la oportunidad de trabaj ar repertorio contemporáneo para piano con Héctor Tosar Martine loste y Carles Santos y de realizar los estrenos de Stamp Music de 1. Lidholm, Ein Hauch van Unzeit de Klaus Huber, Piano, piano de Carlos Da Silveira Un lado, otro lado de Graciela Paraskevaídis y la Suite Juego de niños de Helmuth Lachenhann. En Colombia ha adelantado una activa campaña de divulgación musical mediante conferencias en Bogotá, Manizales, Leticia, Medellín e Ibagué. Como pianista de cámara se ha presentado en salas de Pasto Popayán, Tunja Bogotá, Manizales y Barranquilla yen el Sistema Nacional de Radio y Televisión. En Bogotá ha estrenado obras de compositores como Catalina Peralta y Gustavo Parra. 4 Ha publicado artículos en las revistas Arte y conocimiento Infancia, Texto y contexto Politeia Taller yen el Magazín Dominical de El Espectador. Actualmente se desempeña como docente en la Universidad de los Andes. LILIANA NIKOLOVA Soprano - Bulgaria Nació en Sofía (Bulgaria). De niña estudió violín y piano y terminó la carrera de canto clásico como alumna de famosos cantantes y solistas de la Ópera Nacional de Sofía y de pedagogos de la misma institución como Blagovesta Karmovatiova e Ylia Y osifov. Después de ganar el concurso entró a trabajar como soprano en la Ópera Nacional de Sofía; com~ miembro de ella participó en numerosas presentaciones y conciertos en Bulgaria, Alemania, Suiza, Austria Francia España, Holanda Italia y Grecia entre otros países. Actualmente trabaja como docente de canto clásico en la Universidad El Bosque Universidad de los Andes y en la Escuela del Teatro Libre. 5 LUIS GUILLERMO CANO Violonchelista - Colombia Estudió en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia; continuó sus estudios en Puerto Rico con Adolfo Odnopossof, en Argentina con Wolfgang Melhom y Alberto Lysy, y música de cámara en Siena, Italia. Se desempeñó como violonchelista principal durante ocho años en la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá y por diez años con la Sinfónica de Colombia; también fue miembro de la Filarmónica de Caracas y profesor en la Orquesta Juvenil de Venezuela. Durante seis años fue miembro de la Orquesta de cámara de Colombia y del Cuarteto Arcos con el cual realizó giras por Europa. Tocó con la Sinfónica Nacional de Costa Rica como primer violonchelo; con esta agrupación realizó giras por Europa, Estados U nidos y Centroamérica. Compositora - Colombia Nació en 1971. En 1999 obtuvo el grado en composición• con énfasis en electroacústica- en la Universidad de los Andes. Fue finalista en el primer y segundo Concurso de música electroacústica de la Alianza ColomboFrancesa en 1994 y 1995, respectivamente. Sus obras han formado parte de la programación de diversos festivales y ciclos: Festival de música contemporánea de Bogotá (1995 y 1999); A, B, Cs (and sorne others) ofLatin American Electroacoustics Composers (Concordia, Canadá, 1998); Concierto de las 4 M del Museo Nacional (1998); Compositores jóvenes colombianos (Centro Colombo Americano, 1999); Festival internacional de música electroacústica de Bourges (Francia 1999)· Colombia en la onda electroacústica (Fundación Gilberto 6 Alzate Avendaño, 1999) y VIII Festival internacional de música electroacústica - primavera en La Habana 2000 (Cuba, 2000). Ha asistido a seminarios y talleres con el ingeniero del IRCAM Camilo Rueda (1995) y los compositores Cornado Silva (1998), Coriún Aharonián (1999) y Graciela Paraskevaídis (1999). Notas al programa Ana María Romano G.* La primera parte del concierto está conformada por obras correspondientes a la etapa inicial de Jacqueline Nova; requieren de gran exigencia interpretativa y en la mayoría de ellas se observa la búsqueda y experimentación dentro de algunos de los lenguajes de vanguardia en su momento. Son pocas las obras de Jacqueline Nova que plantean dentro de su construcción una propuesta armónica tonal; las canciones Les méfaits de la lune (con texto de Paul Verlaine) y Au clair de la lune hacen parte de este reducido grupo.

Not much is known outside the Latin American continent about the first appearance and later quite relevant presence of Latin American women in the field of music creation. The first examples are to be found around the middle of the 19th century, historically the period that followed the independence wars carried out by the Creoles with the interested help of England and France to free themselves and their newly-born countries from the three-and-a-half century-old Spanish or Portuguese domination. This dark chapter in the history of mankind is known to the world as the “conquest” and "colonisation" of America, a holy crusade which led to a perfectly well organised genocide of seventy million Indians and around twelve million African slaves and implied the moral, spiritual and cultural destruction as well as the depredation of a whole continent. Following European patterns, music was taught, practised and composed in many places throughout the Latin American continent as early as the sixteenth century. It is then around 1850 that women started being creatively active. Isidora Zegers (Chile, 1803- 1869), Modesta Sanjinés (Bolivia, 1832-1887), Angela Peralta (Mexico, 1845-1883), the mulatta Chiquinha Gonzaga (Brazil, 1847-1935) and Teresa Carreño (Venezuela, 1853- 1917) belong to the first generations of musicians who were not only celebrated performers and respected teachers but also composers in different fields and genres. The generations through the twentieth century show a quick updating and in several cases a deep awareness on behalf of the role of music in society and its relation to avant- garde languages.

Instead, most music performed in concert and symphony halls across the world was composed by European male composers of the eighteenth, nineteenth, and early twentieth centuries. Like other women composers around the globe, Latin American women composers are conspicuously absent from concert programs, and their works are seldom heard in public. Latin America has a rich history of art music, which varies from region to region and country to country. Many composers born or living in Latin America have been very active in this field, in some countries as far back as some 50 years, but the availability of electroacoustic music recordings and information in Latin America has been a problem for educators, composers, performers, researchers, students and the general public. In an effort to preserve, document and disseminate at least a portion of the electroacoustic music created by Latin American composers, an archive has been developed at the Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science, and Technology and is now open to the public. 1 Introduction The development of electroacoustic music seems to be associated with a few countries where the pioneering activities started. But the creation of music using electroacoustic technologies in a contemporary manner (in spite of some differences I will refer to the term “electroacoustic music” in this document) has also been of great interest to composers living in Latin American countries since before the 1950s. However, there is a significant lack of information in this respect, and little research has been conducted in this area. Having started to work in the electroacoustic music field during the mid '70s in my native country of Argentina, I found it very difficult to obtain information on related activities in surrounding countries and even in my own city.
