Education is an important medium of acquiring essential knowledge and skills. Education, as a tool must facilitate the cultivation of a healthy thought process and groom students‟ cognitive abilities. The purpose of education is to prepare the children of today to become dynamic and productive citizens of tomorrow. A school must stimulate curiosity in the young, impressionable minds by equipping them with tools to become better human beings. A school is pertinent in preparing students to be independent thinkers, to develop abilities that will help them in life and conscientiously adapt to the rapidly changing environment.

We at Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School unconditionally sustain the idea of education being the key to well-rounded development of students. The recent shift of thought from bookish knowledge to knowledge of life has brought forth a sea of changes. Life skills as building blocks to prepare students to become responsible citizens, is the driving idea behind this change. To achieve these goals we endeavor to enrich our future generations with up to date curriculum, effective learning process both in the class and outside the class, train them in the many critical and non-technical skills that are required today and educate them to provide value service to the global community.

Experiential learning has become the foundation of the constructive learning process in SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL. Experiential learning makes allowances to foster creativity, competitive spirit and to develop the myriad inherent talents of students. In the current educational scenario, our students are taught to go beyond the traditional way of rote learning. They are taught to develop a mind of their own through a flexible curriculum, which promotes curiosity, self-confidence and self-discipline. We recognize the diverse learning needs and styles of our students, and through our innovative teaching pedagogies, assist in the development of multiple intelligences that a student might possess which leads to their holistic development. Our classrooms are equipped with state of the art technologies that allow students to explore concepts beyond the theoretical realm. Students benefit through these initiatives and are prepared to meet the ever growing demands of the global community.

Academics

Excellence in academics is the hallmark of any good institution and results of class X and XII school prove without any doubt that our students have made us proud.  Hey Math- is a zeliously driven math program to up-skill and enable success for every student through ingeniously designed math curriculum of problem and solving techniques.  PrepMySkills- Is a life skills education program that has the potential to transform young minds and plays a critical role in the overall development of a child  Ebix- a smart futuristic computer curriculum designed to bring innovation, creativity and problem solving skills into the classrooms. It focuses on improving learning outcomes through digital assistance.

CLUBS

At Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School we lay due emphasis on co-scholastic activities. They are an essential part of school life and helps in enhancing learning process of students in school. To endorse this rationale School Clubs were inaugurated on 11th July, 2018 by our former Principal Smt. Usha Rani Shankar.

ASTRONOMY CLUB

“Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.” –APJ Abdul Kalam

 Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School initiated the Astronomy Club in the year 2018.It is a platform with the focus on teaching Space Science and Astronomy to students through hands on experience.  The Astronomy day was celebrated on the 19th of February amidst a unique blend of intellectual activities. Dr.V.Anand was the Chief Guest for the day. He spoke about the importance of increasing public understanding of science and scientific methods and to make clear that science is a pathway to discovery, not just a collection of facts.  Through the activities of the astronomy club student members were encouraged to exhibited various models which included a model of a live comet, two hydro- powered rockets, models on the solar system, astounding amount of facts, explaining their exhibits with flair and confidence.

DEBATE CLUB

 Debate club aims at fostering in students skills and provide a significant training ground for the development of students‟ communicative abilities.  The Debate Club is a platform where the students can share their freedom of speech and expression in an open forum, engage in rhetoric on a variety of issues at the local, regional, national, and international level and expand learning in order to become more active and productive citizens.  The students enthusiastically participate in activities that cultivate and test their literary skills. Students of SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL have successfully participated and emerged victorious in inter-school competitions like Astra, Impulse, and Genesis just to name a few. Supriti shreya secured 1st place in the debate conducted by KOLA SARASWATHI VAISHNAVA SCHOOL

QUIZ CLUB

 The quiz club aims at identifying students talented in the techniques of quizzing and creating opportunities for them to sharpen their quizzing skills.  The Quiz Club strives to update the knowledge of the students in various fields like academic, general knowledge, analytical abilities, quantitative reasoning etc. It aims at creating a deep sense of curiosity among the young ones and updates their knowledge in various fields.

The quiz club has various achievements to its name.

Our students won laurels for the school by competing in and winning in various events.

 Hari Akash of class VII B won 2nd place in the Science quiz conducted by FUJJI SCIENCE QUIZ 2018.  Sparsh Khicha of Class VI A won 1st place in the quiz conducted by ARHAT TOUCH.  Students of our school also participated in The Cue Math Quiz and The JEEYAR EDUCATIONAL TRUST QUIZ.

CALLIGRAPHY

“Calligraphy is an art form that uses ink and a brush to express the very souls of words on paper.” ― Kaoru Akagawa

 The objective of the Calligraphy club is to instill knowledge of the basic skills and techniques of English calligraphy in students.  The club aims to expose students to English history and culture and, ultimately, inculcate in them school values and a love for the Language.  SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL has begun Calligraphy classes for the students. Every child is given due attention to understand the beautiful art of writing i.e. Calligraphy.  Students are taught to pay attention on each letter and in what direction the pencil or the marker should be moved. Students are encouraged to create their own font style.

Prasidhi S of class V C received a gold medal and a certificate for Hindi Handwriting Competition conducted by MAHATMA GANDHI RASHTRABHASHA HINDI PRACHAR SANSTHA.

COOKERY

 SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL offers to the students an experience to discover the joy of cooking using a range of techniques with a variety of recipes.  Cookery classes also give the children confidence and knowledge about food preparation, cooking and presentation.  Students learn about nutrition and healthy eating.  Teaching students to cook will help instill skills to last them a lifetime.  Students are taught different techniques of cooking, different ingredients; different terms in cooking, preparation required before cooking and also cook different dishes.

FASHION DESIGNING

 The Fashion Designing club is for students who have interests in the fields of design, apparel, textiles, and clothing construction.  The club‟s goal is to educate members and share ideas in fashion design, pattern- making, garment construction and show production.  By discussing designs and demonstrating methods of putting a complete garment together, the club will help students who plan to pursue a career in the fashion industry as well as those who design clothing as a hobby.

MUSIC AND DANCE

 Music is an integral part of the curriculum of Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School.  The Music club promotes enjoyment in music and self-expression.  Students are encouraged to participate and perform in singing and instrumental activities. Throughout the year, the students participate in various cultural activities and events organized in the school which provide them an amazing platform to showcase their unique skills.  Dance is story telling through movements.The Dance club of SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL aims to arouse interest and enhance the children‟s talents in dancing.  It helps students explore dance concepts, refine techniques and challenge students physically, conceptually and intellectually.  Students are taught to apply a variety of value systems, aesthetics, and approaches to performing.

Our school took part in various inter school competitions organized by:

 SHUDDHA WAIDHAMANDIR, GANA SANGAMAM conducted by West Sahodaya Cluster School, GUJJU Cultural Competition. Students brought laurels to the school by winning various awards in these events.  Amrutha T of Class II C won 3rd place in solo music organized by SREE NARAYANA GURUDEVA JAYANTHI  Students of class V won 2nd place in dance competition conducted by SHRI SHUDDHADWAITA VAISHNAV BALAMANDIR NURSERY & PRIMARY SCHOOL

ART AND CRAFT

 Arts and crafts at SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL helps the children develop an appreciation for beauty and perfection in their own work and in the work of others.  The club strives to nurture an interest in art, develop creativity and self-expression and foster appreciation for different techniques. The club enables children to record from first-hand experience and from imagination, and to select their own ideas to use in their work.  The Art and Craft Project day was conducted to exhibit works of students based on themes like Best out of waste, Room Decor, Wall Hanging, etc.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

 Sports and athletics have been an integral part of SMSS for years. We aim to fulfill the potential of our students in all aspects of school life while developing a respect for self and others as. We strive to emphasize excellence in sports and extra- curricular activities.  The PT department took intensive measures to conduct physical fitness tests to measure muscle strength, core stability, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, speed and agility, muscle power and muscle coordination. Tests were conducted for students of classes IX to XII.

The PT department had a successful run last year, having won various tournaments.

 Students secured the runners-up position in the CBSE cluster Volley-ball tournament, from among 145 participating teams.  Our school emerged as winners in the Inter School Throw-ball tournament conducted by Guru Shree Shanti Jain College.  Students from SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL won 1st place in The ICF Interschool Cricket Tournament- under 14 category.  Students won badminton tournaments organized by IBC Integral Club and Badminton Association.  Our school won the runners up position in the Leap Start Junior Football league. Our students have made us proud through their athletic expertise.

LEAP START

 Sports at pre-primary level are not about competition. It is about having fun, being physically active, learning the basics of sports and building co-ordination and motor-skills and so, to give the little angels an opportunity to display their self – confidence, patience, zeal and sportsman ship.  Our school in association with Fit kids Educational and Training Pvt. Ltd. offers „Leap-start‟ to enable students to enjoy the sports in a creative way within campus itself. Leap start has various programs for our students. They provide best quality sport and fitness program.

SCHOOL SKIES

This Unique communication system helps Management and Teachers connect easily with Parents and to gain confidence of parents. Parents are notified about their ward‟s progress through We Chat.

YOGA

 Yoga is an invaluable gift of ‟s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action, restraint and fulfillment, harmony between man and nature, a holistic approach to health and well-being.  It strengthens the immune system and does internal cleansing of blood, body parts, body systems, organs, veins and arteries. It brings a divine glow on the face and makes us wise.  SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL has implemented regular yoga practice every day for everyone. The school management has appointed yoga teachers to help the students learn yoga to keep physically fit and mentally healthy.

S. Jayashri was placed first in the GEETHAM O3 YOGAKALAYAM.

KARATE

 The martial art; Karate is a part of the curriculum in SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL for the students. It enhances their development in skills and principles that needs to be used in personal growth and self-defense.  Students undergo this training by professionals who conduct classes over the course of the academic year.  This striking art uses punching, kicking, knee and elbow still-bow strikes, and open-handed techniques such as knife-hands, grappling, locks, restraints, throws, and vital point strikes .All these techniques are taught in school.  At the end of every academic session the student undergoes an exam and moves over to the next level of „Belt‟. Lehari lekha of class IV C secured 2nd place in Sub-junior level of BTF TOURNAMENT organized by ISSHINRYU Karate and Kobudo

LIBRARY

 The school possesses an excellent Library which is used extensively by both teachers and students for reference purposes.  The School is equipped with a wide range of books covering an array of topics. The library also provides facility of magazines, newspapers and journals which caters to all academic tastes.  Students have access to the computers and tabs which are loaded with books of different genres.  Our library does not end here; we also have a digital projector which helps the students to explore various videos, and digital programs to cater to their growing academic needs.

“Library stores the energy that fuels the imagination”. This philosophy became the foundation for the annual book fair conducted on 27th November 2018, by The Great Book Publication. Students of class 3 enacted stories and students of class 4 were asked to speak about their favorite characters. Students of class 6 were given topics on the spot and were asked to write on the topic given. This was done with the aim of developing their imaginative and language skills. Book sale was arranged on 19th December, 2018 to develop reading skills in students.

SCIENCE CLUB

The Science Club has as its objectives

 The cultivation of an awareness of science, the familiarization of the student with scientific research, the encouragement of critical thinking and the involvement of students in scientific activities.  Science involves a pursuit of knowledge-causing general truths as the operations of fundamental laws.  It aims to inculcate and improve scientific temper amongst our students, promote scientific thinking and new ideas and enhance scientific awareness.

 The main objective of Science Club is to develop a scientific attitude and a rational outlook towards life.  Some of the activities of the club are preparing models, charts, organizing Science exhibitions, organizing inter-house quiz competitions and Science Olympiad.

Kavan Hemang Ajmera of class IV A has won a certificate and a medal in the English Olympiad conducted by SOF International Olympiad.

Students of class V won certificates and medals in the Science Olympiad conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation.

 Competition plays a vital role in motivating students to perform and excel than just winning prizes. When students engage in competitive activities they gain individual skills like resilience to build interpersonal skills which paves the way to mould academically sound students.  To promote this venture, the Biology Department participated in various competitions conducted by the SMK FORMA Institute of Technology Tech Fest 2018. Students of class XI bagged first place. Students also secured all three places in JAM. Sohini Saha of class IV secured the first prize in VIGYANA PRADARSHINI conducted by VIDYALAYA JUNIOR COLLEGE and all three places were secured by students of class IV.

On 30th November the Science Department organized DEWS- Do Everything in the Way of Science. 247 participants from 16 schools took part in various competitions conducted by the different departments. Every Department conducted two events and one exhibit. Events were based on the themes of practical application of the sciences and were aimed at testing participants‟ knowledge towards the subjects. Environmental issues and other hazardous conditions leading to degradation of the environment were focused upon.

MATH CLUB

 The Math Club has been introduced with the aim of making Mathematics fun for students.  It endeavors to help students grasp mathematical concepts better through various activities like participation in Math Olympiads and other competitions, Mathematics quiz, Study of various Math based puzzles and developing models and aids to facilitate a better grasp of Mathematical concepts.  The Math Club conducted activities to signify how Math can be enacted and utilized in everyday life, rather than remaining a theoretical concept. Hiyya P Jain of class IV secured 1st place in Vigyana Pradarshini conducted by Vidyalaya junior college.

SOCIAL CLUB

Education and Competition motivates and drives students to excel and enables them to learn and benefit from their strengths and weaknesses. Expecting someone else to bring a change will never bring a change. It is necessary to take the first small step and what will follow will be a revolution.

 SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL aims at helping students to develop and exercise a strong sense of social responsibility by making an earnest endeavor to contribute to the wellbeing of the less fortunate.  Aptitude tests were conducted to stimulate the knowledge of students and give them an insight into current affairs.  Dr. Raj Vedam of the Indian History Awareness and Research (IHAR), conducted a workshop for Social Science teachers. The origin of Vedas and the antiquity of early works were discussed.

MARKETING MINDS

Marketing Minds, an annual fete, was organized by students of class XI and XII of the Commerce Department. It was held on the 14th November 2018, on children‟s day in the school premises. The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Smt Usha Rani Sankar . An amazing array of stalls were set up comprising of tempting and tongue tingling food stalls, fun games including play station , box cricket league and colorful accessories stalls. A special movie show was organized for the lower and middle school students who had a great time watching it. The proceeds of Rs. 2 Lakhs were donated to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund for the Gaja Cyclone.

SOCIAL SERVICE LEAGUE

Social Service enables students to enhance emotional well-being and improve academic performance.

 Students learn how to interact socially, understand other people‟s problems and work for the social betterment of the society.  Through these activities students utilize their time better, develop a benevolent attitude, and become more mindful of their surroundings.  The Social Service League provides a vehicle for student cohesiveness and professional identity with the social work profession.  The Club is designed to increase awareness of social issues within the school and the wider community.  It provides opportunities to gain knowledge about the issues related to social work. It also offers volunteer opportunities, leadership experiences, career exploration and fellowship for students and the faculty.  The Social service club is established to inculcate prosaic behavior among our students.  The activities of the Club help members learn to respect people and to fulfill their responsibilities to serve the community. It also offers a chance for students to contribute to the society, therby learning to have a positive attitude towards the life.  Social Club volunteers play an active role in the RSP, to control and regulate the heavy traffic that often breaks the smooth functioning of the school and neighborhood.  The National Integration week was observed in the month of December 2018. The occasion provided an opportunity to reaffirm the age old traditions and faith in the value of tolerance, co-existence and brother hood in a multi-cultural and multi religious society.

SCOUTS & GUIDES

 The purpose of the movement is to contribute to the development of young people in becoming responsible citizens and members of the local, national and international communities.  The Scouts and Guides of our school took part in many activities, camps and passed various stages of examinations to attain laurels for the school. This year our students received many accolades.

Three students of class IX received the Governor‟s Award at the Rajya Puraskar testing camp. The Scouts and Guides Club helps students to inculcate leadership traits, develop team building, and a thrill for adventure and compassion towards their fellow brethren.

LITERARY CLUB

“You live a new life for every language you speak. If you know only one language, you live only once.”

Language is a tool for communication. The Language Department strives to achieve excellence in all aspects of Language learning. The Department of Sanskrit, Hindi, Tamil and English strive to bring together a plethora of competitions that test, enhance and strengthen students‟ knowledge, creative application and command over the languages, for we believe that expression takes various forms throughout the life and career of a student. Thereby depending upon the level and interest of students, the skills of languages are tested in different forms such as debate, essay writing, elocution, quiz, handwriting, story-telling, recitation, etc.

 Sanskrit- The language of the Gods- its utterance has been proved to aid in brain development. Students are trained to recite Sanskrit Shlokas and taught to speak simple sentences. Students took part in various competitions and emerged victorious in them. Our school won the 1st and 2nd place in all the events of the Bhagvad Gita Recitation Competition. The Chinmaya Mission conducted a Chinmaya Gita chanting contest in November. Our school bagged the first and second place.  Hindi- Rooted from the first ever recorded Devanagari script, Hindi today has evolved to be recognized as one of the Official Languages of India. The students of Hindi Department have brought laurels to our school by winning prizes in events organized by Bhavan‟s RajajiVidhyashram and Agarwal Vidhyalaya.  Tamil- In addition to exposure to rich Tamil Texts, students are encouraged to understand and express their views in various forms. Students secured 3rd place in the District Level elocution competition conducted by the Tamil Nadu Police Department. Our school came 1st in the elocution competition conducted by the Dhatchina Moorthy Trust and Association  English- To be well equipped and competitive amongst peers from around the globe, English was made a core subject in SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL. The skills learned in English are applied throughout the curriculum and beyond. Students of the primary department won prizes in recitation and Spell Bee competition conducted in Vellammai Matriculation School.  An Inter –house elocution competition was conducted in English and Tamil in the month of November, to equip young students with the skills of thinking clearly, speaking persuasively and listening to the opinions of others critically and constructively.  An Inter-house debate competition was conducted in English, Tamil and Hindi in the month of November.  To help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary, learn concepts, and to develop correct English usage, a Word Power contest was conducted for classes VI-XII in the month of November

ROBOTICS

 Robotics club is a year-long robotics program aimed at implementing technology enhanced learning in classrooms.  It aims to promote robotics as a tool for application of concepts learnt by students in classrooms using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) integration by creating multiple-intelligence based learning environment.  Students are engaged in computer programming and problem solving activities to encourage creativity and initiative.  The Robotics club hosted an inter-house competition „ROBOFEST‟ which welcomed students along with their engineered models. Students also got opportunities to participate in various competitions on regional and national levels.

EDUCATIONAL TOUR  Travel expands the horizons of each participant. School life is incomplete without educational tours and excursions. The trips are generally tailor-made to facilitate the students recognize and understand the real, multicultural world.  The trip can reinforce what a teacher has been instruction in class about a subject and help students understand the topic better.  Taking students into a new environment gives them the experience of traveling in a group and teaches them to be respectful of the locations they visit.  Students get to visit a place to which they have never been before. This van be particularly advantageous to students who are less fortunate and don‟t have the opportunity to travel.  Students who go on educational trips find that they want to learn more about the subjects on which the trip is focused at.

CELEBRATIONS At SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, we believe that the school is an important part of the community. The school thrives because of the community, and for the benefit of the community. Hence, we conduct events wherein children can learn through multiple interactions with the community and the community also benefits through the efforts of & interactions with our children and staff. SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL children engaged in a variety of celebrations throughout the year that help them build cultural and social values, while instilling in them a sense of togetherness. Some of the festivals which the staff and children celebrated during the academic year are Ramnavami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Independence Day, Republic day.

 INVESTITURE CEREMONY The Investiture ceremony was held in the school premises on the 3rd of July, 2018 for the students of Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School who were designated with their responsibilities as student leaders. The ceremony was presided over by our Chairman, ShriNandlalPokardas, our Secretary, Shri.Danishkumar N Chhabria and Principal Smt.Usha Rani Shankar. Leaders were conferred their badges and they took an oath to abide by the rules and responsibilities the school had entrusted upon them. Besides the core council leaders of various teams like the Emergency, Evacuation, Firefighting and Cleanliness took oaths to perform their duties diligently.  INDEPENDENCE DAY With great joy and enthusiasm the 72nd Independence Day was celebrated in our school campus. Shri P. Govimdraj, Assistant Commissioner of Police hoisted the flag. SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL marked the occasion by holding a march past, followed by oath taking and prayer. Speeches were given in Hindi,Tamil and English highlighting the dynamic nature of India. This was accompanied by various cultural programs. The chief guest in his address paid tribute to the nation and its culture and heroes, while showing appreciation for the cultural diversity that exists within our Nation.  SINDHI MODEL INTER SCHOOL TOURNAMENT The Sindhi Model Inter School Tournament was held on 28th August 2018 in our school campus. 46 school across participated in various sporting events including Basketball, Volleyball, Throwball and Table Tennis. The Sindhi Tournament was inaugurated by Principal Smt. Usha Rani Shankar. In her inaugural speech she motivated participants and emphasized on the saying” Participation is more important than winning”. The tournament was organized by the Physical Education Department along with student coordinators. Teams from SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL proved to be formidable rivals, having bagged various prizes in almost all the events.

 ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION Annual Day forms an integral part of our school activities. It is an occasion of celebration, felicitation, feast and festivity when students present not only their wonderful performances but also receive honours for their curricular and co- curricular achievements. SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL celebrated its 43rd Annual Day with unprecedented fanfare on 18th July, 2018, in our school premises. The school was decorated elegantly. A grand stage was set up with professional sound system. Dr Deepak Arjundas, a leading Consultant Neurologist in the city of Chennai, was invited as the Chief Guest. Shri.C.N.Gangadaran Hon. Consul of Mongolia was our Guest of Honour. Honoring and appreciating the achievers with accolades, Annual Prize Distribution Function for session 2018-19 was held with great fervor. Commencing on a devotional note, the celebration embraced various facets of society and culture. The event began with the inspiring speeches by the Chief Guest, Chairman, and the Principal of the school. The most memorable moments of the function were marked by the valuable words of advice and appreciation by the Chief Guest during his address to the parents and students. The prizes were distributed to the students for their excellent performance in academic and non- academic activities. K.N.Rukmini extended the vote of thanks and the eventful day came to an end with the singing of national anthem.  TEACHER‟S DAY “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” Teachers' Day is very important for all the people, the students and even the parents, as the teachers lay the foundation for creating enlightened citizens for the nation. It is the birthday of a timeless teacher and the former President of India - Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL solemnly celebrated Teachers‟ day with great gusto and gaiety on 5 September 2018. To honor the teachers, management commended them by means of gifts and lunch.  INAGUARATION OF AUDITORIUM On the bright and sunny morning of 30th November 2018 Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School held an inaugural function of it renovated auditorium. The refurbished auditorium boasts of state of the art facilities, which will allow students and teachers to explore innovative methods of learning and teaching. The auditorium was inaugurated by the schools Chairman Shri.Nandlal Pokards.  DEWS The school inaugurated the first edition of its Inter-School science competition and exhibition, DEWS (Do Everything in the Way of Science). The event was conducted to commemorate the 160th birth anniversary of Sir J.C. Bose. The prime motto of the Science Club is “Science inculcates an enquiring attitude and an analytical approach that leads to rational thinking”. Bio- art, game making, treasure hunt, quiz, science exhibition were some of the event of the day. DEWS aimed to motivate students toward science and present their scientific understanding to a wide audience. The chief guest of the day was Prof. Shri B. Ravindran, IIT Madras. The honorable chief guest spoke about how the growth of Artificial Intelligence can help the students to bring a change in today‟s world. Schools from every corner of the city participated and won prizes. VellamalVidhyala, Melayanambakkam, bagged the overall winners‟ trophy. The exhibition aimed at inculcating a scientific mindset among students providing a common platform. This allowed them to share innovative ideas and learn from each other‟s experience.

 SPORTS DAY Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School organized its 43rd Annual Sports day on 10th January 2019, at . Members of Management, Principal, Vice-Principal and members of staff received the Dignitaries and Guests The morning session of the sports meet was declared open by Shri Om Prakash, Director, Sindhi Education society (Madras) and Hon. treasurer, Sindhi College at 12.00 noon. He recalled all outstanding athletes of the nation and commended them on their steadfast dedication in making a difference. The first event of the meet was the march past by the school students led by the school perfect and the respective house captains. The students marched proudly with military precision and perfect synchronization in their house colors to the tune of the school band followed by athletic events. The Valedictory Function and Prize Distribution Ceremony began at 3:00pm with the arrival of the chief guest, Shri K Pandiarajan, Hon‟ble minister for Tamil Official Language, Tamil Culture and Archaeology, Government of Tamil Nadu. The Chief-Guest in his address expressed his joy in attending the meet. The energetic primary and secondary students exhibited splendid display items, mass drill, karate, Yogasana and dances which added charm to the sports meet. On the spectacular day ,Jawahar house was declared the best house and Karan Kumar of class X-C from Rajaji house declared the best athlete in sports and games for the year 2018-2019.  REPUBLIC DAY The school celebrated the 69th Republic day of India on 25th January 2019 with great reverence. The event began with a prayer followed by flag hoisting by the Chief-Guest Shri.KishorkumarGokuldas, M.D.of KG Developers and Promoters. This was accompanied by the March Past, our National Anthem and the pledge. The Chief Guest spoke eloquently about our diverse nation and the relevance of the Constitution and the Preamble. He enthralled the audience with inspirational stories and reiterated the need for being resolute in our path to achieve our goals. Speeches were given in Hindi, Tamil and English about Development of India after Independence. The cultural programme included patriotic songs, a dance performance by the primary students and a report National Integration by class VII students.  COT- Canopy of Talents Honoring and appreciating the talent of the youngest members of our society, a Nursery cultural fest was organized in our school campus on 9th February 2019. Named COT-Canopy of Talent, the event was held with great enthusiasm and eagerness. Smt. Geeta Gangadharan, an eminent writer and a women‟s right activist inaugurated the event. In her address she emphasized the importance of providing children with the autonomy to become their own individuals bar the pressure and expectations of the parents and society at large. Various competitions were conducted to give the students an opportunity to showcase their creative excellence. A rainbow of colors unraveled on the stage as students from all corners off the city took to the stage to show their metal. A staggering number of participants were recorded. Over 20 schools and over 300 students participated in 8 events conducted on the day. A battle royal ensued following which AMM Matriculation Higher Secondary School emerged as the overall winners.  P.E.A.C.E- Primary Educational and Cultural Extravaganza There are innumerable reasons for the arts to be included in the educational system. Involvement in the arts has been shown to help students in their personal and social development. PEACE- a one of a kind cultural extravaganza was organized on January 29, 2019. The Chief Guest of the day was Smt. Padmapriya the Managing Director SIMS Hospital. It was truly a mesmerizing show as teams from various schools participated in programmes such as singing, dancing, fancy dress, ramp walk, etc. The classical and modern combination of several foot tapping numbers glued audience members to their seats. Events like Clay Modeling, Drawing, Rangoli, Junior Chef, Quiz, Elocution, Best out of waste and Handwriting in different languages, were conducted. Through this platform the school aimed to ignite in students the passion to pursue visual and performing arts. Friendly competitions breed a positive outlook in students and this is hoped to be achieved through the excellent platform being provided to students. The exchange of creative ideas and peer learning was the goal of every individual assembled here.Through this vibrant and dynamic initiative the scope of creativity was broadened.  NURSERY AND PRIMARY SPORTS DAY Nursery and Lower Primary Sports meet was held in our school premises to promote sportsmanship and collaborative working. Watching the little ones race neck to neck was enthralling.Students of class one displayed events on themes of Savach Bharat, Save trees, Save Water and BethiPadao. The students of class two also performed on concepts of Save the Farmers, Live and let Live (save wildlife), Jai Jawan (respect their sacrifice) and Krishna-Sudhama friendship. The primary students in their colourful costumes made a lasting impact on the audience through the message conveyed. The synchronized movement to the beat of the drum during the Display was a visual treat for the audience. Smt. S. Gokula Indira, Former Minister of Tamil Nadu & M.P, the Guest of Honour appreciated the school for the efforts taken to encourage the little tots in sports.  NURSERY DEPARTMENT The classes for kinder garden commenced from 4th of April 2018.After summer vacation the tiny tots were back to school in the month of June. The academic year pledged to be full of promise and expectations as usual. Lower Kinder garden were given an opportunity to talk about safe touch. They spoke about good and bad touch and safety measures to take care of themselves. Vice principle Smt.K.N.Rukmini was invited as the judge. She enjoyed the effort of the tiny tots and she appreciated their performance. We are proud to say that Danesh.G and Kanishha.K of UKG has been certified for the successful completion of 0.7 km run in Madras kids run held on 23rd of September 2018 at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Chennai. Halloween -Trick to treat or treat to trick a scary day, was celebrated on 30th of October. The Halloween room was decorated with scary faces, masks, skeletons made out of fruits and vegetables with the help of the parents‟ creative touch Preschool classes celebrated the 100th day of school with many fun and exciting educational activities. One of the most appreciated activities was a theme based Exhibition by Nursery on November 27th. The class rooms of nursery had exhibits related to different topics taught in Nursery. Children of LKG and UKG narrated stories, rhymes, science demo etc. Parents were allowed to enjoy the show. Effective professional development training programs enables educators to develop the knowledge and skills they need to address students' learning challenges. Nursery teachers had a wonderful opportunity to attend workshop at St, John‟s Public school, Chennai and another workshop conducted by Mrs. Geetha Krishnan in our school premises.  PRIMARY DEPARTMENT The Primary Department of Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School took immense pride in organizing variousinter-department events, showcasing the talents and creativity of our students. The yearlong activities started with the Celebrations of Janmashtami and Ganesh Chaturthi. The celebrations involved great enthusiasm and devotion. Aarti was performed and bhajans were recited on both the occasions. The involvement of the children in the celebrations at such a tender age is worth applauding. Language acknowledges the central role played by speaking, listening, reading and writing in the learning and thinking processes.Language and literacy are fundamental to the overall development of a child and enables their access to all aspects of the curriculum. The Literary association of English, Tamil, and Hindi conducted various competitions like Handwriting, Recitation, and Story Telling throughout the year to develop language skills. Student enthusiastically participated in the Language Day celebration, The English Language Day display, Action Songs, Story Telling, Acrostic poetry and various other events. Tamil Language Day was made extraordinary by Akash Raja‟s recitation of 95 of lines Siva Puranam. The Primary department prize distribution ceremony, celebrated the efforts exerted by the students of the primary department throughout the academic year. Prizes for hundred percent attendances, competitions such as Poetry Recitation, Story Telling, Hand writing was given to felicitate our little champs. Our former Principal Smt.Usharani Shankar and our Primary Coordinator Smt. Victoria Dhinakar , along with the faculty distributed the trophies and medals to the winners. To ensure that our students are well equipped to skillfully utilize latest technologies we had our Computer Science online assessment using Google Form. The students found this interesting and challenging. The gamut of features offered by Google for Education Sector was put to use. Online Test, Evaluation and Question wise feedback were conducted for classes III, IV and V. Today, mathematics as a mode of thought and expression is more valuable than ever before. Learning to think in mathematical terms is an essential part of becoming a liberally educated person. Students of classes I-V participated in an array of theme based events. Talent Exams in English, Maths, Science, Computer Science, Sports, and General Knowledge were conducted in collaboration with SOF. Our students bagged a lot of medals and brought honor to the school. The Year‟s activities concluded with Robo Fest - a project based event conducted for classes three, four and five. The power of Artificial Intelligence was naturally the chosen area as we currently cater to GEN Y. Humanoid, Waste Sorting Robot, Industrial Robo Arm, Gyro Robot, Artificial Arm, Automation in Draw Bridge, Space Shuttle, Agricultural Robot were a few of the projects that were showcased. Students participated in International Level Robotics Competition “FIRST Lego League”. Our students qualified to both the Regional and National Level of the League.
