Annual Report 2019-20 Annual Report 2019-20 VISION Our Shared Vision: “Education crafted to mould future generation” Education is an important medium of acquiring essential knowledge and skills. Education, as a tool must facilitate the cultivation of a healthy thought process and groom students‟ cognitive abilities. The purpose of education is to prepare the children of today to become dynamic and productive citizens of tomorrow. A school must stimulate curiosity in the young, impressionable minds by equipping them with tools to become better human beings. A school is pertinent in preparing students to be independent thinkers, to develop abilities that will help them in life and conscientiously adapt to the rapidly changing environment. We at Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School unconditionally sustain the idea of education being the key to well-rounded development of students. The recent shift of thought from bookish knowledge to knowledge of life has brought forth a sea of changes. Life skills as building blocks to prepare students to become responsible citizens, is the driving idea behind this change. To achieve these goals we endeavor to enrich our future generations with up to date curriculum, effective learning process both in the class and outside the class, train them in the many critical and non-technical skills that are required today and educate them to provide value service to the global community. Experiential learning has become the foundation of the constructive learning process in SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL. Experiential learning makes allowances to foster creativity, competitive spirit and to develop the myriad inherent talents of students. In the current educational scenario, our students are taught to go beyond the traditional way of rote learning. They are taught to develop a mind of their own through a flexible curriculum, which promotes curiosity, self-confidence and self-discipline. We recognize the diverse learning needs and styles of our students, and through our innovative teaching pedagogies, assist in the development of multiple intelligences that a student might possess which leads to their holistic development. Our classrooms are equipped with state of the art technologies that allow students to explore concepts beyond the theoretical realm. Students benefit through these initiatives and are prepared to meet the ever growing demands of the global community. Education is a basic tool for the development of consciousness and reconstruction of society. The thread of the growth of society depends upon the quality of education that is being imparted. We hope through our contribution we can serve in molding the nation‟s future by facilitating all round development of its future citizens. Academic achievements reflect a demonstrated ability to perform to the best of one‟s ability by developing one‟s intellectual potentials and skills, with diligence and ardor. Students are provided access to high quality education that has breadth, depth, and opportunity and is complete inpreparing the students for the future Excellence in academics is the hallmark of any good institution and results of class X and XII school prove without any doubt that our students have made us proud. The performance of the students of class XII in the board examination conducted by CBSE was outstanding. The school toppers of AISSCE 2018-2019 are as follows: R Sejal Babel scored a total of 484/500, D.Khushi scored 476/500 Gaurav scored 468/500 Prerna.A.Shroff scored 468/500 CLASS X The school toppers of AISSE 2018-2019 of class X are Pratham M scored 484/500 Anchal Jain scored 481/500 Mitali D scored 478/500 TOTAL STRENGTH - 155 PASS PERCENTAGE - 100 % To aid in the pursuit of excellence the school has introduced an array of verticals Hey Math- is a zeliously driven math program to up-skill and enable success for every student through ingeniously designed math curriculum of problem and solving techniques. PrepMySkills- Is a life skills education program that has the potential to transform young minds and plays a critical role in the overall development of a child Ebix- a smart futuristic computer curriculum designed to bring innovation, creativity and problem solving skills into the classrooms. It focuses on improving learning outcomes through digital assistance. CLUBS At Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School we lay due emphasis on co-scholastic activities. They are an essential part of school life and helps in enhancing learning process of students in school. To endorse this rationale School Clubs were inaugurated on 11th July, 2018 by our former Principal Smt. Usha Rani Shankar. ASTRONOMY CLUB “Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.” –APJ Abdul Kalam Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School initiated the Astronomy Club in the year 2018.It is a platform with the focus on teaching Space Science and Astronomy to students through hands on experience. The Astronomy day was celebrated on the 19th of February amidst a unique blend of intellectual activities. Dr.V.Anand was the Chief Guest for the day. He spoke about the importance of increasing public understanding of science and scientific methods and to make clear that science is a pathway to discovery, not just a collection of facts. Through the activities of the astronomy club student members were encouraged to exhibited various models which included a model of a live comet, two hydro- powered rockets, models on the solar system, astounding amount of facts, explaining their exhibits with flair and confidence. DEBATE CLUB Debate club aims at fostering in students skills and provide a significant training ground for the development of students‟ communicative abilities. The Debate Club is a platform where the students can share their freedom of speech and expression in an open forum, engage in rhetoric on a variety of issues at the local, regional, national, and international level and expand learning in order to become more active and productive citizens. The students enthusiastically participate in activities that cultivate and test their literary skills. Students of SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL have successfully participated and emerged victorious in inter-school competitions like Astra, Impulse, and Genesis just to name a few. Supriti shreya secured 1st place in the debate conducted by KOLA SARASWATHI VAISHNAVA SCHOOL QUIZ CLUB The quiz club aims at identifying students talented in the techniques of quizzing and creating opportunities for them to sharpen their quizzing skills. The Quiz Club strives to update the knowledge of the students in various fields like academic, general knowledge, analytical abilities, quantitative reasoning etc. It aims at creating a deep sense of curiosity among the young ones and updates their knowledge in various fields. The quiz club has various achievements to its name. Our students won laurels for the school by competing in and winning in various events. Hari Akash of class VII B won 2nd place in the Science quiz conducted by FUJJI SCIENCE QUIZ 2018. Sparsh Khicha of Class VI A won 1st place in the quiz conducted by ARHAT TOUCH. Students of our school also participated in The Cue Math Quiz and The JEEYAR EDUCATIONAL TRUST QUIZ. CALLIGRAPHY “Calligraphy is an art form that uses ink and a brush to express the very souls of words on paper.” ― Kaoru Akagawa The objective of the Calligraphy club is to instill knowledge of the basic skills and techniques of English calligraphy in students. The club aims to expose students to English history and culture and, ultimately, inculcate in them school values and a love for the Language. SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL has begun Calligraphy classes for the students. Every child is given due attention to understand the beautiful art of writing i.e. Calligraphy. Students are taught to pay attention on each letter and in what direction the pencil or the marker should be moved. Students are encouraged to create their own font style. Prasidhi S of class V C received a gold medal and a certificate for Hindi Handwriting Competition conducted by MAHATMA GANDHI RASHTRABHASHA HINDI PRACHAR SANSTHA. COOKERY SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL offers to the students an experience to discover the joy of cooking using a range of techniques with a variety of recipes. Cookery classes also give the children confidence and knowledge about food preparation, cooking and presentation. Students learn about nutrition and healthy eating. Teaching students to cook will help instill skills to last them a lifetime. Students are taught different techniques of cooking, different ingredients; different terms in cooking, preparation required before cooking and also cook different dishes. FASHION DESIGNING The Fashion Designing club is for students who have interests in the fields of design, apparel, textiles, and clothing construction. The club‟s goal is to educate members and share ideas in fashion design, pattern- making, garment construction and show production. By discussing designs and demonstrating methods of putting a complete garment together, the club will help students who plan to pursue a career in the fashion industry as well as those who design clothing as a hobby. MUSIC AND DANCE Music is an integral part of the curriculum of Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School. The Music club promotes enjoyment in music and self-expression. Students are encouraged to participate and perform in singing and instrumental activities. Throughout the year, the students participate in various cultural activities and events organized in the school which provide them an amazing platform to showcase their unique skills. Dance is story telling through movements.The Dance club of SINDHI MODEL SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL aims to arouse interest and enhance the children‟s talents in dancing.

    DISTRICT PROFILE - 2017 CHENNAI DISTRICT ORIGIN OF CHENNAI Chennai, originally known as Madras Patnam, was located in the province of Tondaimandalam, an area lying between Pennar river of Nellore and the Pennar river of Cuddalore. The capital of the province was Kancheepuram.Tondaimandalam was ruled in the 2nd century A.D. by Tondaiman Ilam Tiraiyan, who was a representative of the Chola family at Kanchipuram. It is believed that Ilam Tiraiyan must have subdued Kurumbas, the original inhabitants of the region and established his rule over Tondaimandalam Chennai also known as Madras is the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located on the Coromandel Coast off the Bay of Bengal, it is a major commercial, cultural, economic and educational center in South India. It is also known as the "Cultural Capital of South India" The area around Chennai had been part of successive South Indian kingdoms through centuries. The recorded history of the city began in the colonial times, specifically with the arrival of British East India Company and the establishment of Fort St. George in 1644. On Chennai's way to become a major naval port and presidency city by late eighteenth century. Following the independence of India, Chennai became the capital of Tamil Nadu and an important centre of regional politics that tended to bank on the Dravidian identity of the populace. According to the provisional results of 2011 census, the city had 4.68 million residents making it the sixth most populous city in India; the urban agglomeration, which comprises the city and its suburbs, was home to approximately 8.9 million, making it the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the country and 31st largest urban area in the world.
