ROYAL NATIONAL LIFEBOAT INSTITUTION

The RNLI provides on-call, a 24 hour search and rescue service around the Uk and Ireland plus a seasonal lifeguard service and are committed to preventing tragedies and tackling the international drowning epidemic. Keeping a modern fleet of lifeboats ever-ready to go to the rescue from 236 Lifeboat Stations is an expen- sive business. Add to that crew training, running a lifeboat service on more than 200 popu- lar beaches and campaigning for water safety, and the pounds start to add up. It costs around £385 a day to run the RNLI all of which is generously donated by the public. The RNLI are allowed a donation collection week once a year, around the 3rd or 4th week in April, when registered collections take place and volunteers are required to cover the col- lections in Middleton-on-the-Wolds. The village is split into sections and if there is anyone who is prepared to give some time to cover a section please contact Mrs R Crawford on 01377 254455 or Sue Peacock on 01377 217483. Any help with this would be much appre- ciated.

Remembrance Service At 11:00am on Monday 11 th November we will be holding our remembrance service in the school playground. Reverend Kate Goulder will be attending the service. There will be a minute’s silence to commemorate Remembrance Day. All are welcome to attend.

Bag2School Our next Bag2school collection is on Monday 18 th November . Any unwanted clothes, shoes, bedding, curtains or cuddly toys can go in the collection. The heavier the collection, the more money that is raised for school, so please save all unwanted items for us.

On-going Collections On-going Collections – We collect Flora ‘Tubs4Tablets’ tokens, Tescos, Sains- burys, Morrisons and Strikes garden centre vouchers at school, as well as used stamps, Nestlé tokens (from cereal packets) and used printer cartridges. Thank you.

The Santa Run is a fund raising event, where Father Christmas and his helpers go door to door with sweets and mince pies hoping for a kind donation which is not obligatory. Anyone who wants to give Father Christmas their letters can do so, and, as long as they are CLEARLY MARKED WITH NAMES AND ADDRESSES they will receive a reply.

On 8th December we arrive at Bainton Village Hall at 3.00pm. We then move on to Well Garth at and then to the village pond around 3.30pm. We hope to enter Middleton at The Paddocks at 4.00pm. We will then walk around Middleton singing and delivering good cheer all the way.

But, please be patient as we do aim to be `spot on` with the times. However, we do have to take weather conditions and using a sleigh into consideration. Thank you.

So, hope to see you all then!

Daffodil Bulb Planting A big `THANK YOU` to all the ladies that came to plant daffodil bulbs along the side of Road on 2nd October.
