Monthly Newsletter December 2019 Monthly Newsletter December 2019 Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year Upcoming Arena News Arena Events A Very Busy 2019 Dec 11th-12th - Private Event (Arena Closed) 2019 has no doubt been the busiest year for the Arena since it opened in January 2016, the Arena has hosted approximately 500 events across the year Dec 13th-15th - The Christmas Cracker - Christmas Party ranging from 3000 seater sellouts right down to small meetings. Th e Arena also hosted around 500 community basketball sessions this year catering for Dec 19th-21st The Christmas Cracker - all ages and abilities. The competition will include eight teams in each of the men’s and women’s events. Each team will consist of 12 athletes. The format and rules for both tournaments are the same. They will begin with the preliminary round, for which the eight teams will be divided into two pools of four teams, with the top four ranked teams in Pool A. Competing nations: Preliminary rounds at Cairns Convention Centre: Men Pool A Women Pool B Australia New Zealand Nigeria Jamaica New Zealand India Canada Malaysia Preliminary rounds at Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre: Men Pool B Women Pool A England Australia Cameroon Canada India England Scotland Mozambique The top two teams from Pool A proceed to the semifinals, while the bottom two teams from Pool A will play the top two teams from Pool B in the qualifying finals. The winners of the qualifying finals proceed to the semifinals. The remaining teams from Pool B are eliminated. Following the preliminary round, the competition will follow a straight knockout format, with semifinals, a bronze medal game and gold medal game.     SOUTH WEST BASKETBALL MARCH/2014 REGIONAL NEWSLETTER WELCOME Welcome to the second edition of the South West Basketball Newsletter. I hope it helps you to keep up to date with basketball in the region. We hope to publish this more regularly. However this, and the overall effectiveness of the newsletter depends largely on you. There are lots of great things happening which few people get to know about, so please send any informative articles for publication to Chris. If basketball is to develop, even on a very local level, it is crucial that we work together more on a regional basis.
