11:15 - 11:30 Parallel Breakout Sessions 11:30 - 13:00 1. Sustainable Infrastructure in Practice - led by IDB, New Development Bank (NDB) and Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) This session will discuss the criteria to be applied to ensure that infrastructure investment meet sustainable standards. It will also examine how to evaluate sustainability and to meet the challenges of delivery with examples from Latin America including Brazil, Haiti, and Colombia. 2. Financing Sustainable Infrastructure and Climate Action in Cities - led by EIB and Agence française de développement (AFD) This session will focus on solutions that can help cities meet their infrastructure needs and climate objectives. It will demonstrate how cities can benefit from a combination of integrated urban planning and advisory services for project preparation, implementation and financing. 3. The Key Role of National Development Banks in facilitating a Sustainable Energy Mix - led by IsDB and Industrial Development Bank of Turkey (TSKB) This session will illustrate the role of IsDB, TSKB and National Development Banks in implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency programs. It will focus on lessons learned, showcasing investments in Pakistan, Turkey and other countries. It will also discuss the importance of energy efficiency to sustainable and inclusive development and recent trends in renewable energy. 4. Building Quality Infrastructure - led by WB and Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) This session will look at tangible examples of the mobilization of private and concessional resources for quality infrastructure, focusing on the lessons learned in emerging countries and at common themes. It will focus on the key roles of regional and local DFIs, MDBs and donors in promoting sustainable infrastructure through blended finance.

Moderator: A.N. other Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director, Oxfam and Spokesperson for CSOs Spokesperson for LDCs Spokesperson for LLDCs Closing remarks by Wu Hongbo, Under-Secretary UN DESA The panel will discuss the particular challenges of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), as well as civil society to identify and address infrastructure and capacity challenges and gaps. The Panel aims to advance thinking on implementation of sustainable infrastructure investment in these countries, as well as policy solutions, including on how the MDBs can approach infrastructure investments in challenging environments.

Parallel Breakout Sessions 15:00 - 16:30 5. MDB Risk Mitigation: Filling the Gaps - led by EBRD and MIGA This session will discuss the replicability of a new risk mitigation instrument that provides an unfunded facility by EBRD in tandem with MIGA risk cover to allow institutional investors to participate in emerging market infrastructure. First applied in Turkey’s hospital PPP market, the Instrument also carries a Green Bond classification. The discussion will present the new instrument and showcase its potential to be mainstreamed. 6. Infrastructure as an Asset Class - led by AIIB and IFC This session will focus on the need for and benefits to stakeholders, MDBs and institutional investors of creating an Infrastructure Asset Class by mobilizing private finance for sustainable development. A special focus will be on the next steps for creating a well-functioning market that can improve the matching of bankable sustainable projects and investors - and create an enabling business environment for institutional investors. 7. Better Project Preparation - led by ADB and The Sustainable Infrastructure Foundation (SIF/IISS) The objective of this session is to discuss how stakeholders can be more effective and efficient in developing sustainable and inclusive infrastructure. The panel will discuss (i) project preparation management tools as well as costs, quality control and market communication; and (ii) the role of MDBs in developing project pipelines through their advisory services. The International Infrastructure Support System (IISS) is operated by the SIF in conjunction with MDBs. 8. Energy Finance in Africa - led by AfDB and EIB This session will investigate the constraints hampering the development of energy and economic development in Africa as well as the instruments MDBs and partners can use to address them. AfDB will present an update of its ‘New Deal on Energy’ launched in 2015. The panel will focus on (i) the preparation of project pipelines; (ii) credit worthiness of power utilities; (iii) the development of innovative financing solutions and (iv) the ‘off-grid revolution’.
