Awards, Honours, Distinctions Received: a) Received Bar Council of India “Golden Jubilee Special Award” on 16th February 2013 at Vigyan Bhavan New Delhi, for his invaluable contribution in the field of Higher Education in General and Legal Education in particular. Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the event. The celebrations witnessed the gracious presence of Hon’ble Dr. Ashwin Kumar, Union Minister of Law and Justice, Hon’ble G.Vahanvati, Attorney General of India and Shri Mannan Kumar Mishra, Chairman Bar Council of India. 12. Contributions to the field of Pharmacy Education and Profession

A. i. Worked for 27 years as the first Principal of the Poona College of Pharmacy, Pune, the pioneering Pharmacy College in the jurisdiction of University of Pune. Brought about all sided development of the college so much so that now it is ranked as one of the best Colleges of Pharmacy Education in India. ii. The College runs graduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in the Pharmacy. A large number of its passed students have established themselves as Researchers, Teachers, Professional, Drug Manufacturers and the like. iii. Put a great deal of emphasis in research in Pharmacy. Helped many colleagues to get doctoral degrees and to do research in Pharmacy. Constructed a separate research building with 18 laboratories – well equipped for doctoral and post doctoral research. iv. Organized various National and International Level Conferences and Seminars in Pharmacy subjects. Encouraged Members of Faculty of the College to undertake research in Pharmacy. He as instrumental in procuring research of grants Rs. 1.5 crores for sophisticated equipment for the college and the research laboratories. B. Took initiative and active interest in establishing a separate Faculty for Pharmacy in University of Pune,the first of its kind to the State of Maharashtra.

C. Established a drug manufacturing unit, Get Rid Pharmaceuticals in the College in collaboration with other unit such as Bio-Ved. Inc. (USA). D. Got College Laboratories recognized as Public-Testing Laboratories. E. Extended help and guidance for establishing Pharmacy Colleges elsewhere in Maharashtra. F. Provided stimulus to the college faculty to undertake research projects of international standard .As a result, the college faculty has got 25 patents for their research projects and procedures.

13 Contribution to the development of Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune firstly as its Pro Vice Chancellor and then as Vice Chancellor :

In recognition of the academic merits and excellence achieved by the Colleges and Institutions of Higher Education of Bharati Vidyapeeth in different disciplines of knowledge and the potential for the development, which they have for further growth, the Department of Human Resource Development, Government of India on the recommendations of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, initially accorded the status of University to a cluster 12 institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth on 26th April, 1996. They constituted Bharati Vidyapeeth University initially. Now, their number has increased up to 29.

 Was appointed as first Pro Vice-Chancellor of this University right from its inception in 1996 and continued to hold the said position till December 2006 when he took over as Vice Chancellor of the University.  During his tenures both as the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Bharati Vidyapeeth University, he has made landmark contributions to the development of the University. 14

 He made the University administration, student-teacher centered and service oriented.  He is greatly instrumental for launching several postgraduate and other professional courses in various faculties such as, Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Pharmacy, Management quite a few of them are of innovative nature.  He has also brought in various administrative reforms including examination reforms and has introduced computerization in the office administration.  Launched various innovative academic programmes.  Developed the university as a throbbing center of academic and research activities.  Established excellent rapport between the university and community through various extension activities.
