Congress Guide CONGRESS GUIDE ERSCONGRESS.ORG ERS PARIS 2018 WELCOME FROM THE ERS PRESIDENT ■ WELCOME FROM THE ERS PRESIDENT MINA GAGA “The 28th ERS International Congress is taking place in Paris this year and I am looking forward to enjoying the experience; the Congress is the biggest in respiratory medicine, it is a forum to get updated with the latest studies in the field, to meet peers and key opinion leaders, to enjoy the many educational sessions and to be part of this exciting and productive atmosphere, in a great congress centre and an historic and alluring city. “This event is the result of many months of hard work. The ERS Science and Education Councils have worked tirelessly alongside ERS Officers to develop a programme of sessions and activities which not only represent the latest in respiratory medicine and science but also cater to the varied needs of our growing membership and wider community. This year’s programme, as in the past, has something for clinicians, scientists and allied health professionals: live and hands-on sessions, grand rounds, meet- Professor Mina Gaga the-expert seminars, new scientific evidence and, ERS PRESIDENT very importantly, the opportunity to meet with colleagues and to network. “Networking is always a very big pull for our Congress; with over 22,000 delegates regularly in attendance, it is rightly seen as the place to be and to meet up with colleagues and peers from all over the world. It can be the catalyst for new collaborations and forming networks and this helps the advancement of knowledge and science and also helps our members’ careers. Having the opportunity and the proper space to share ideas and knowledge and discuss issues and experiences plays a significant role in fulfilling our own personal goals of becoming better and feeling part of a productive and energetic community, it also helps reach the ultimate goal of better respiratory health across Europe and worldwide. “I am looking forward to being in Paris – to welcome you all to what I know will be the respiratory event of the year, and to participate, absorb the knowledge being shared over the five-day period and enjoy the atmosphere. As the current ERS President, I am so very proud to be celebrating my presidency with this prestigious event! I would like to thank our officers and our members and importantly, all the ERS staff and departments who play a key role in bringing this big and complex event to life and who continue to do an excellent job year by year.” 2 ERS PARIS 2018 WELCOME FROM THE CONGRESS CHAIRS ■ WELCOME FROM THE CONGRESS CHAIRS Welcome to Paris 2018! We are delighted to welcome friends and colleagues to our home city of Paris for the ERS International Congress 2018. Paris is a fitting choice for the largest respiratory meeting in the world as it is an important scientific centre in Europe; think René Descartes, Pierre and Marie Curie, the Sorbonne University, the freedom of thinking (les Lumières) and revolutionary ideas. Paris is certainly one of the most interesting cities in Europe and worldwide. People from all over the world travel to Paris to discover and experience the French way of life. Only a few cities on earth Prof. Anh-Tuan Dinh-Xuan capture the imaginations and hearts like Paris. CONGRESS CHAIR Paris is the city of love, inspiration, art and fashion. It is a wonderful combination of historic, modern, romantic, intellectual, grandiose and elegantly understated. The nightlife and warm atmosphere are welcoming and will make you feel at home. The French capital has fascinating architecture in abundance, not least the iconic Eiffel Tower. It has a huge number of museums which house some of the world’s most important artworks. Artistic vibrancy resonates throughout the city. It would take a lifetime to fully experience the Louvre, home to the world’s most diverse and extensive collection of pre-20th century art, not to mention the many other Museums nearby, such as the Orsay, Rodin, and the Musée du quai Branly. Prof. Nicolas Roche CONGRESS CO-CHAIR Paris is the largest city in France and is located in the northwest region. It sits on the banks of the Seine River and has a population of approximately 2,315,000. Covering key topics in respiratory medicine from across the spectrum of disease areas including TB, lung cancer, chronic and acute respiratory failure, sleep breathing disorders, interstitial lung diseases, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, COPD and asthma, amongst others, the Congress programme is set to deliver the best advances in both science and education. This Congress will specifically highlight the importance of environment in respiratory health and focus on the need to personalise medicine in the respiratory arena. Special attention will also be paid to our interactions with microorganisms in our environment as well as those that live in peace within our organism.     Stockholm 2018-01-11 Motion till SB&Ks årsstämma 2018 angående inträde av idrotten ”All Style”. Bakgrund All Style är ett regelverk skapat för att idrottare från olika kampsporter skall kunna mötas under samma regler. Regelverket har under åren administrerats av olika underförbund. Idag sköts sanktionering av SB&K. Motionen vill att årsstämman beviljar att de 60-tal föreningar som regelbundet återkommer till tävlan kan organisera regelverket som egen idrott under SB&K. All Style regelverket 1984 skrevs första versionen av reglerna man har sedan dess reviderat dem ett antal gånger. Regelverkets administreras i dag av SB&K. Regelverket har kommit till uttryck under flera olika format Challenge Cup följt av Master Cup och samt Allstyle Open o Allstyle PRO. Tävlingsverksamhet Domarkår och funktionärer kommer i dagsläget från ett 10-tal olika föreningar. Tävlingen Allstyle Open drar mellan 110-170 tävlande per gång. 2016/17 arrangerades 382 matcher med 476 deltagare från 57 klubbar. Klubbarna har stor geografisk spridning från Piteå i norr till Kalmar i söder och från Göteborg i väst till Stockholm i öst. Många idrottare tävlar i huvudsak i Allstyle Open och de trycker på för att man ska kunna hålla svenska mästerskap och kunna arrangera internationellt tävlingsutbyte. All Style är ett robust och etablerat regelverk inom vilket mer är 5 500 matcher arrangerats. Betydelse för svensk kampsport Då tävlingarna hållits i obruten svit i över 30 år har idrottare alltid kunnat räkna med att få matchrutin i Allstyle Open. Vissa har kunnat lägga 4 matcher på en dag till sitt CV vilket får ses som en stor tillgång.

IFMA is truly honoured to have close cooperation with HSH Prince Albert the II, the High Patron of The Organisation for Peace and Sport, through the IFMA “Sport Is Your Gang” Campaign which won the 2014 Spirit of Sport award. We are also delighted to have a close cooperation with HRH Prince Feisal through the Generations for Peace Organisation. We are extremely proud to have a partnership with UN Women on the campaign to End Violence Against Women, which has been featured and promoted throughout the IFMA Royal World Cup. A special training course was held with UN Women with representatives from over 70 countries present. 41 Education - IGLA A 3-day course was held on the Muaythai education program in cooperation with iGLA and 78 countries participated in this important program. 42 IFMA Gala Night “A Night of Olympism” The stars shone bright on the IFMA Awards night, an Oscar-like red carpet event that will surely live on in the memories of the over 2,000 participants.
