Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc. National Headquarters P.O. Box 1287, Roseville, Ca 95678 www.naknet.org

Nu Alpha Kappa (NAK) supports all efforts to empower victims of sexual misconduct to come forward. We encourage reporting to appropriate authorities and believe individuals should be held accountable for wrongdoing. We hear the concerns and are a committed partner in improving campus safety and culture.

In light of multiple allegations against members of the fraternity, Nu Alpha Kappa has suspended all operations and chapter programs indefinitely. This measure is to ensure that we as an organization take the time to address these allegations in ways that are compliant with Title IX policies and procedures, as well as address our own misgivings from an organizational standpoint before resuming operations of active chapters and partnerships. This work is arduous, ongoing, and necessary.

All allegations are being taken very seriously. The process starts with each university’s Title IX office, which is run independently from Nu Alpha Kappa. We will continue to fully cooperate with each investigation. We seek to be as transparent as possible and will provide updates when available that respect survivors’ confidentiality and the integrity of authorities’ investigations. We have linked resources on our website to walk members and the public through the Title IX process.

Below is the Nu Alpha Kappa national procedure moving forward for cases of alleged sexual misconduct, racism, and prejudice against the LGBTQIA+ community. If an allegation is made, we will be a committed ally—seeking the truth and holding individuals accountable. Upon the report of misconduct, the national fraternity will:

● Report allegation to university Title IX office to begin investigation as quickly as possible ● Temporarily suspend membership of individual(s) pending final action ● Fully cooperate with university and local authorities in investigation ● Internally investigate chapter activities for violations of NAK policies ● Hold individuals and chapters accountable including potential suspensions or terminations of chapter membership

Additionally, Nu Alpha Kappa will develop an individual member code which will have a zero-tolerance policy. We are committed to administering year-round training to address topics including active bystander training; sexual harassment and discrimination; survivor awareness and blaming; anti-bullying; diversity and cultural awareness; and use of campus resources and reporting.

We are working as transparently as possible to make the changes necessary to better engage with our Greek life families, our universities, and our broader communities. It is our responsibility to heal tarnished relationships. We will educate ourselves. We will strive to rid our organization of toxic behavior, and we will work with community organizations to strengthen a culture of bystander accountability, respectful consent, and avoidance of discriminatory behaviors.
