The Paper Pulpit

Dear Parishioners,

I’m writing this before leaving for Lourdes, France. I’m travelling with a group of volunteers from St. Bron’s. We will be serving the sick who come on pilgrimage seeking healing in body, mind and spirit. Please know that I am also remembering all of you in my prayers and Masses while in Lourdes. We will be returning Monday, June 25 th – please pray for safe travel!

The story of Lourdes dates to 1858 when a young girl, Bernadette Soubirous (Soo-be-roo) had a series of visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The apparitions took place in a grotto along the Gave River. At first the Apparition did not identify herself, but eventually she declared, “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Bernadette did not know what this meant and kept repeating the words to herself so she wouldn’t forget. (The Immaculate Conception means that Mary, by a special grace of God, was kept free from all stain of sin from the first moment of her life.)

During one of the apparitions, Mary told Bernadette to “go and wash in the spring and drink from it.” Bernadette initially thought the Lady meant the Gave River but then, the Blessed Virgin indicated a spot near the grotto. Bernadette dug in the earth and a spring welled up. The spring continues to flow, producing thousands of gallons of water daily. Over the years, thousands of cures have been attributed to the miraculous spring. (To date, 70 miracles have been officially authenticated by the Church.) Today, pilgrims are able to drink the water and bathe in it, following Our Lady’s instructions to Bernadette.

Each year between 5 and 6 million people visit Lourdes. The sick and disabled have pride of place at the sanctuary and the various liturgical events that take place. Each day there is a procession with the Blessed Sacrament and at night a candle light Rosary procession takes place. Masses are celebrated daily at the Grotto and in the various churches and chapels found throughout the sanctuary. It is truly a beautiful and inspiring place, where the presence of Jesus and Mary can be keenly felt.

Again, thanks for your prayers and know that we have been praying for you and your intentions.

God bless and have a great week!

Father Ed

The Sacrament of Baptism What a joy it is to welcome a new child of God through Baptism! It is a blessing for the Church and for the world. Oliver Louis Zarecki , son of Chris and Emily Zarecki, celebrated the Sacrament of Baptism on June 16 th . God bless his parents and godparents as they together bring up the newly baptized to lead a life of grace in harmony with the Baptismal promises.

Bulletin Submissions Just a reminder that all submissions for the bulletin need to be in by 3:00 pm on Friday. Mass Intentions St. Bron’s is a large parish with very faith filled members, especially when it comes to celebrating a Mass for a loved one. The parish has a beautiful problem, more intentions than Masses at the parish. This is why Fr. Dennis Lynch, a semi-retired priest/hospital chaplain lovingly offers Mass intentions for our parish. He celebrates Mass in his own private chapel or the hospital chapel. Even though his Masses are not always available for attendance by the public, be assured that your loved ones are being offered at the sacrifice of his Masses. Intentions given to Fr. Lynch are announced at the Masses here at St. Bron’s. The Sunday intention designated to Fr. Lynch are announced at both of the Masses on Sunday. Are You Willing? Our Summer Youth Trips & Summer Mass for teens is underway! Can you help by donating the following?

Cases of bottled water – needed for Camp and summer trips and activities Gift cards for donuts after Thursday Morning Mass (Dunkin Donuts, Kwik Trip, Copps) Are you a baker? Call Julie or Laura 715-341-6706 or email [email protected] to sign up to bake some treats K-cups for our “BronaJava” – Mostly cappuccino and hot chocolates!

All items can be dropped off in the parish office with a note for Youth Ministry! Thank you for your support and please keep our teens in your prayers!

When you go shopping, why not take a bulletin with you and stop in to support our sponsors and thank them for advertising in the St. Bron’s bulletin!!

Confirmation Program Grades 7 - 9 BronaJava Teen Coffee House Every Sunday after 10:30 am Mass in the parish library. Take some time for friendship with friends!

Prayers Needed

We are in need of parishioners to pray for our teens who are in their final years of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Praying for others is very powerful and a great way we can show our support for each other.

In the chapel, you will find a basket with prayer petitions that our Confirmation class have written with specific intentions they are asking us to pray for. We have also listed all of our teens by name along with the saint name they have chosen. You can also take this list and pray for them as well as ask their particular saint to intercede for them as they journey toward this final Sacrament of initiation. This is a beautiful way for all of us to be together in one universal faith praying for each other! Thank you.

These teens (God willing) will be confirmed in the fall of 2019. Please continue to pray for them and their sponsors and families as they walk this journey.

Please pray THIS WEEK for our teens and adults going to Adventure Camp along with Fr. Charlie, Fr. Aaron Becker and Fr. Greg Bohren!

You will find a list of all the campers in the chapel!

We pray that as the campers enjoy their time at camp, they deepen their relationship with Christ. Also, pray they form new friendships with others and come back refreshed and renewed.

Schools Out & Thursday Morning Mass Begins! Teens (and College students) of all ages join us for Morning Mass with Donuts afterwards!

EVERY Thursday - join us for 8:15 am Mass . Come around 8:00 am if you would like to read or join Anna with the music. After Mass, we will have a few inspiring words from one of our priests or deacons or perhaps even a special guest!

This is a great way to start the summer and spend some time with friends.
