Greetings Nobles, April is upon us and what a month we have planned! There is plenty to do to keep us all busy! Here are just a few of the things we are planning for April. April 2nd is the Daughters of the Nile Queen Installation. Congratulations to Queen Diane Tidwell and her court. I know she has a big year planned. Let’s get behind her and give her all the help that she needs. Thank you Diane for your commitment. Friday, April 8th is the Annual Golf Tournament. This year it will be at the Pine Springs Golf Course in Tyler. Don’t forget, you can register at www.sharonshriners.com. Check in starts at 11:00 a.m. Then we will have a wonderful lunch, at noon, and a shotgun start to play at 1:00 p.m. Come out and support this Sharon Shrine fundraiser while having fun. See you there. The next day, April 9th, will be our Spring Ceremonial. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. We will start the first section around 10:00 with lunch to follow. Section 2 will be after lunch and there will be program for families in the Unit/ Club building during that time. Bring your candidates, families and friends! Later that evening, plan on joining us for “An Evening in Margaritaville” beginning at 6 p.m. You don’t want to miss out on this fun so make sure you join us. There will be child care in the Unit/Club Building during the party! On April 11th, I will be going to the Homer Lodge stated meeting in Huntington to deliver a Shrine Hospital Pro- gram. I would like to invite all nobles to come and go with me. Mark your calendars and join the Ruffians on April 16th as they lead nobles and their guest to the Shriners Hospital in Shreveport. We hope that every noble and lady will come and enjoy the trip to see the hospital and the children that we help. I know that you will enjoy the trip and the kids love to have Shriners visit! The 20th of April will bring Family Night back to the Unit/Club Building. Please come and enjoy the food and fel- lowship. Don’t forget to bring a guest. As we move further in the month, the Shriners Hospital in Galveston will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary on April 23-25. They have a lot events planned and it should be a great time. Come and see this hospital! The Ruffians are planning an overnight trip leaving on Saturday and returning on Sunday. If you are interested in going, contact Rick Waller at 903-707-0555 for the hotel information. The hospital trips are a great way to see our hospitals up close and meet the doctors and staff that serve the Shriners Children. Finally, the stated meeting will be April 25th. Bring your fez, a smile and be prepared to have good fellowship as we do the business of the Shrine.

May God bless you and yours, Tooter McDonald

Page 9 www.sharonshriners.com Sabine county shrine club The Sabine County Shrine Club had a successful day at the Great East Texas Outdoor Fest on Saturday, March 5, 2016. Raffle tickets for our annual Eat and Go were sold and donations were ac- cepted for the Shrine Hospitals for Children. Informational brochures for the Shrine Hospitals were handed out and many friends stopped by to tell us wonderful stories of their experiences with the Shrine Hospitals. A good time was had by all. The Nobles of the Sabine County Shrine Club and the Ladies Auxiliary assembled March 13 at Littleton Fowler Lodge in Hemphill and enjoyed a wonderful covered dish meal prior to the Stated Meeting. President Gene Nethrey spoke of recent membership petitions in our county. We are proud to hear that interest in the Shrine is said to be a factor. We believe that Shriners are viewed favorable in Sabine County. Last year our Paper Day collection amounted to more dollars than there are residents in the county. Noble Robert Roberson is scheduling workers for this year. Nobles Rodney Bishop and Roy Hammonds are pictured at the Great East Texas Outdoor Festi- val where they and other club members operated an information booth.

Please help us get the word out about the golf tournament we are sponsoring June 4. It will be held at Rayburn Country Club located north of Jasper and near Brookeland, Texas and Sam Rayburn Lake. There will be a long drive contest, closest to the hole competition, and a hole-in-one super prize. The course will be available for practice at a reduced rate on June 3, 2016. Call Rayburn Country Club for available rooms at (409)698-2444. The year is off to a fast paced start and we have our motors rev’d up and hitting on all one cylinder!! The Jeeps had a work day on Saturday, March 12th, and it was a good thing we did as we uncovered several issues with the little yellow bumble bees that required immediate attention. Our Drill Captain con- ducted our practice that next Wednesday evening with 10 riders and we actually made it through with no clanking or banging, which is always a good thing. After practice we all adjourned to the Unit and Club Building for our first monthly “Sharon Shrine Family Night” for some of Rusty Smith’s world famous burg- ers, dogs, and hot links. I would have to say from this reporter’s perspective, it was a huge success. Rusty said he was planning on 40 attendees and had to cook more food to feed the masses that were in attend- ance, always a good problem to have provided you have food to cover your backside which he did. At the end of the night he was pushing them out the doors to get locked up. Bravo Zulu (job well done for all of you landlubbers out there) Rusty, hats off to you, Teresa, and the rest of your crew for a great night of fun and fellowship. April is lining up to be a busy month with two major temple wide events back to back on the docket. The first event out of the gate is the golf tournament. For this year’s tournament we are going back to Pine Springs, just north of Tyler for a Friday afternoon event on April 8th. Lunch is served at noon with a shot- gun start at 1:00 p.m. (1300 to some) and more in depth details can be found in this edition of the Script. We will follow up the golf tournament with the Spring Ceremonial the next morning, April 9th so get your candidates lined up and ready to go. The doors will open at about 9:00 a.m. and the ceremonial will kick off at about 10:00. Again, look in this edition of the Script for details. TSA is just a few short months away and it has been the custom of the Jeep Patrol to submit our unit registration to the temple office as a group. With that in mind, it is important that all of those planning to attend and/or compete, that you get your registration forms filled out and your payment into our Secre- tary, Richard Gaiser, as soon as possible. Not much more to tell you from here on gasoline alley so for now, we’ll sign off and let you go. Here’s hoping to see you and yours out at the temple for some good old fun and fellowship.

Reporting for the Jeep Patrol – Sparky Oriental Band

Not too much to report this month but did want to mention that the TASOB had their Mid-Winter in Amarillo in March. We had a great time with wonderful food and friends. John Webb and myself attended along with Ethel and Marilyn. It was very cold and windy there but despite that, we had a fun trip. The band is getting warmed up for TSA in Houston in June. Looking forward to another good TSA with lots of awards coming home for Sharon. We have had some illnesses the past few months and some that have been hospitalized. Take some time to say a prayer for all that are under the weather and for those that just need a prayer. We still have the jackets for sale with “Sharon Temple, Tyler Texas” on them. And they are good looking. And you can have your name on it for a few cents more. Go ahead and get yourself one. Call Les or Ray to place an order or catch me around. Until next time, stay tuned…. Les Crawley

By Steve Leu

The Ruffians held their meeting on Saturday, March 19th in the Unit and Club build at Sharon Shrine. After introducing our new member David Ingram the meeting got down to the business at hand. New hats were handed out to those who were there. The major topics for discussion were the schedule for rides and other Shrine activities. The first major ride for this year will be on April 16th to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport, more information will be posted on our Facebook page. The Ruffians will be doing Paper Day on May 6th / 7th. On May 14th is the of Texas, Called Meeting and the Ruffians are planning to ride to that meeting. Departure time is 6 AM at Whataburger in Chandler. This is a one day ride to Waco and back, of course it is dependent upon the weather. We al- so have an overnight ride being planned for Memorial Day weekend May 28th. More information will be presented as plans are finalized. As always all of our func- tions and rides are opened to all Shriners and their families, we welcome those that do not have motorcycles to drive and come along with us. Our next meeting will be on Saturday April 23rd at 10 AM in the Unit and Club building. All Shriners are welcome. As always, if you have a motorcycle or want an excuse to get one or just want to be part of our Unit, contact, the President Rick Waller at [email protected] Phone # (903)707-0555 or Vice Pres. Fire brigade

The Sharon Fire Brigade had their monthly meeting on March 2, 2016, at the Sharon Unit/Club building. Robert Fletcher, Fire Brigade president, brought the meeting to order. The members discussed the upcoming IHOP day in Longview, the upcoming parades, and getting the Fire trucks ready for TSA. The Fire Brigade was asked again to ride in the Red Bud Festival parade on Saturday March 19th in Vivian Louisiana, but due to members schedules we will not be able to attend this year. Robert Fletcher furnished fried chicken for the members at the meeting. There was a sad note to this meeting. The Fire Brigade lost a long time member of the Fire Brigade. This gentleman was Bill Billingsley Sr. Bill became a Fire Brigade member in 1976. Bill was very involved with the Fire Brigade unit, Sharon Temple, and Masonry. Bill was very instrumental in organizing different functions in the unit. Allen Adams, Bill’s nephew, is going to be riding Bill’s fire truck. Bill will surely be missed by this unit and masonry. The Fire Brigade is looking for- ward to a great year riding for the Children of the Shrine. If you wish to contact the Fire Brigade about be- coming a member of a great Sharon Shine unit, you may contact Robert Fletcher (president) at 903 515- 1028.
