We know that our actions matter. We are continuously taking sustainable steps in our production, packaging and business partner efforts. Part of sustainable efforts include using recycled fibres in the backing of SELECT soccer balls and we are introducing environmentally friendly water-based ink for our soccer balls. Like other companies, SELECT pays the market price for the stitching of our balls in Pakistan. But it is our conviction that our responsibility goes further than this. For those people who stitch SELECT balls at our production facility in the Sialkot area, it is our aim to also provide medical and educational assistance for the worker and their whole family. Lawrence Technological University Abstract The wage of a football player is a function of numerous aspects such as the player’s skills, performance in the previous seasons, age, trajectory of improvement, personality, and more. Based on these aspects, salaries of football players are determined through negotiation between the team management and the agents. In this study we propose an objective quantitative method to determine football players’ wages based on their skills. The method is based on the application of pattern recognition algorithms to performance (e.g., scoring), behavior (e.g., aggression), and abilities (e.g., acceleration) data of football players. Experimental results using data from 6,082 players show that the Pearson correlation between the predicted and actual salary of the players is ∼0.77 (p < .001). The proposed method can be used as an assistive technology when negotiating players salaries, as well as for performing quantitative analysis of links between the salary and the performance of football players. The method is based on the performance and skills of the players, but does not take into account aspects that are not related directly to the game such as the popularity of the player among fans, predicted merchandise sales, etc, which are also factors of high impact on the salary, especially in the case of the team lead players and superstars. Analysis of player salaries in eight European football leagues show that the skills that mostly affect the salary are largely consistent across leagues, but some differences exist.

Kvinnelige fotballspillere har i dag en høy belastning i hverdagen og må kombinere fotballkarrieren med studier og jobb på siden på grunn av manglende økonomi til å kun leve av fotball. Dette har ulike konsekvenser, der den kanskje mest tydelige er at mange velger å avslutte fotballkarrieren. Formålet med denne oppgaven er å undersøke hvordan media oppleves av aktive utøvere i Toppserien i dag, samt hvilken rolle og makt media har i konflikten ved det å være kvinnelig idrettsutøver og totalbelastning hos spillerne.

The Boston Breakers find themselves right in the mix. The longest-running professional women’s soccer team in U.S. history, the Breakers have roots dating back more than a decade. The franchise was established in 2000, debuting in the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) in 2001. The Breakers competed for three seasons in WUSA before the league folded. When Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) was formed in the fall of 2007, the Breakers joined the league and began play when WPS officially launched its first season in 2009. The Breakers played three seasons in WPS (2009-2011) before the league suspended operations in 2011. In their three WPS seasons, the Breakers reached the playoffs twice. In 2012, the Breakers played in the eight-team WPSL Elite League, which featured eight teams from the Midwest and up and down the East Coast. The Breakers won the regular season championship with an 11-3 record.
