Sling type delivery. Under threw two deep balls that were caught by Johnson and Thurman. Has size and strength for position. Low delivery point. Quick release. Needs mechanic and fundamental work. #12 Scott Rislov QB San Jose State - 7th round/priority free agent. Game MVP. Good adjust to the rush, poised in pocket, eyes downfield, can find the outlet receiver. Comfortable in pocket. Steps into throw. Good touch and fundamentals. Throws tight spiral. #14 Tony Johnson WR Penn State - Draft 4th/6th round, depends on verified speed. Fundamentally sound receiver. Good run after catch. Strong. Good receiving skills. Comes back to the ball. Strong hands. Built like a running back. Good blocker. #24 Andrae Thurman WR Southern Oregon/Arizona – Draft 5th/6th rounds. Hand catcher, comes back to the ball. Also returns punts and kickoffs. Soft hands. Will layout for ball. Catches ball at the high point. #80 Lance Young WR Iowa State – Priority free agent. Will trap ball against chest. Good leaping ability. Can return kickoffs and punts – not special. More of a body catcher than a hand catcher. #82 Ryan Krause WR Nebraska-Omaha – Free agent. Big wide receiver that must be a slot guy. Poor man’s Billy Miller – Texas. Lacks quickness out of break. Lacks overall quickness in his game. #44 Ronnie Ghent TE Louisville – Free agent. Receiver only – tight end that has inconsistent hands. Below average blocking ability. Lacks bulk and strength. Long arms. #46 Matt Kranchick TE Penn State – Free agent. Big target. Traps ball against his body. High cut. Must work to stay low and bend to block. Runs hard after catch. Slender build. #84 Nate Lawrie TE Yale – Free agent. Big target. Question speed. Good blocking awareness. Good adjust to block linebackers on second level. Has some upper and lower body stiffness. #26 Larry Croom RB UNLV – Free agent. Has some shake and bake moves. Can make the defender miss. Gets what’s blocked. Good effort to block on blitz pickup – undersized. Third down back with good vision. Shifty moves. #28 Butchie Wallace RB Marshall – Replaced Koutsos after injury. Free agent. Has average running skills and quickness. Has some inside vision and pick ability. Lacks the strength to move the pile. #28 Tom Koutsos RB Southern Illinois – Injured, did not play. Was a free agent in practice sessions. Has an injury history. Tackle to tackle runner. Lacks speed to turn the corner. #30 Derrick Ward RB Ottawa (KS)/Fresno State – Draft 5th/7th rounds. Good agility in space. Can run with strength and power or shake you in the open field. Good hands and vision to catch ball. Good cutting ability and inside vision while running ball. Good running skills. #32 Dusty McGrorty RB Southern Oregon – Camp/free agent. Try hard player with limited ability. Inconsistent hands catching the ball out of backfield. Flashes an upfield burst. #52 Quinn Christensen OG/OT Brigham Young – Draft late – 6th/7th round. Played the best of Blue offensive linemen. Played better at OT than OG. Battler. Physical player that gets the job done. Works to finish. Ornery player. Plays with an attitude. Played left OT at times. Was impressive vs. several defensive linemen. Good awareness. Better in pass pro. On the ground and inconsistent early in game. Gets high at times. Long arms. #66 Chris McKelvy OG Penn State – Camp player. No anchor. Will get driven back into QB. Over extends on the line while run blocking. Consistently leveraged. #68 Nate McPeek ROT Marshall – Free agent. Loses feet in traffic. Plays high. Consistently driven back into pocket. Below average athlete. Works to finish. Can’t anchor. #70 Jim Molinaro OT Notre Dame – Draft late/7th round/priority free agent. Waist bender that positions defender. Gets pulled by in pass pro. Question strength and balance. Not smooth in footwork. Will over extend on run blocks. Works and walls off defender in pass pro. Has some upper and lower body stiffness. Consistently beat inside. Long arms. #72 Nick Romeo OC Syracuse – Free agent. Undersized. Phone booth player. Butt is one foot off the ground. Basically helped guards on double team because there was no blitzing. #74 Luke Salmons OG Marshall – Free agent. Maddox #93 for Gray team used him for a punching bag. He leveraged Salmons and drove him back so often it looked like Salmons was on skates. No anchor – can’t stop a charge. Was beaten by every opponent. Lacks strength and quickness. Needs center help. Plays high. Lacks quickness and range. #76 Kurt Sigler OT Eastern Washington – Camp player. Below average balance. Couldn’t handle edge speed or a two move player. OK on down blocks. Must be an OG. Gave up some sacks. Gets beat inside and outside. #42 Raheem Orr DE Rutgers – Free agent. Inconsistent to fight pressure. Struggles to separate from blocker. Was wired to offensive tackles. In drills had a quick first step but did not finish during game. Doesn’t make plays. Question awareness and instincts. #48 Michael O’Brien DT Western Illinois – Free agent. Fights pressure. Plays with leverage. Undersized. Active player that goes to the whistle. #54 Gabe Nyenhuis DE Colorado – Draft 5th/7th rounds. Long arms. The Gray had no one to block him. Active, good leverage player that plays with good knee bend. Always around ball – pressuring QB. Good effort player. When cut he bounces up and gets in on play. Plays low. #78 Sean Mulcahy DT Connecticut – Free agent. Good initial quickness but below average change of direction. Plays sluggish after first step. If he doesn’t beat you on first step he’s stuck on block. Not a fast twitch guy. Inconsistent to use hands – stuck on blocker. Will make a play every so often. Had most of success with a weak blocker. #90 Dietrich Canterberry DE UNLV – Draft 7th round. Short area quickness. Plays with leverage. Lacks long pursuit speed. Plays with effort and can push the pocket. Good backside chaser. Finishes play. #92 Christian Ferrara DT Syracuse – Free agent. Usually draws a double team. Fights pressure. Stuck on blocker. One speed player with no moves. Shoots gap. Awkward in movement. #94 Derek Kennard DT Nevada – Free agent. Takes good pursuit angles. Good motor and effort player. Thick lower body. Lacks height for position. Finishes play. #34 Rich Scanlon MLB Syracuse – Draft 6th/7th rounds. Active player. Has good instincts and awareness. Runs at a good competitive speed. Good to key and diagnose. Physically tough. Average use of hands. Has strength versus the inside run. Functional strength. Short arms. #36 Deryck Toles OLB Penn State – Free agent. Explosive undersized linebacker. Question instincts. Late reacting at times. Shallow in pass drops. Has a good burst to the ball. #38 Daryl Towns OLB Nevada – Free agent. Active and productive. Good in man to man cover. Downhill player. Plays tall. Not a great knee bender. Undersized with long arms. #40 Renauld Williams OB Hofstra – Free agent. Undersized outside linebacker. Had a sack in game. Gets turned and collapsed at times. Aggressive but out of control. Had several missed tackles. Short arms. #50 Jonathan Harrell IB Northern Iowa – Draft 4th/6th rounds. Athletic linebacker. Has short area agility. Good use of hands and instincts. Has good speed. Was injured most of 2003, groin, etc. #2 Marvin Jackson DC Chadron State – Priority free agent. Waited on deep ball. Needs fundamental and mechanic work. #10 Randee Drew DC Northern Illinois – Free agent. Undersized. Will have problems in matchups with big strong wide receivers. Aggressive, can jump. Good hands. Lacks tackling strength. Willing but not a strong tackler. #16 JaMaine Billups SS Iowa State – Draft 6th/7th rounds. Physical player. Good on run support. Has an explosive wrap. Jason Belser clone. Will struggle in most m/m matchups. #18 Justin Sandy FS Northern Iowa – Draft 4th/6th rounds. Good hitter. Plays ball in air. Has corner experience. A safety with good man to man skills. Good athletic ability. Effective on special teams. Good to play deep ball. Good lateral movement and back pedal. Good vision and reacts. #20 Josh Minkins DC Louisville – Free agent. Will have problems in matchups with big receivers. Has average closing quickness. Willing to run support but lacks size. Cut tackler. Gets bounced around. #22 Ben Nauman Safety Augustan (SD) – Draft 5th/7th round. Physical player that is better in a zone scheme than man to man. Good instincts and toughness. Good to read and react. Good use of hands to shed block. Smooth in transition. #4 Steve Baker P/PK Southern Oregon – Camp player. #8 Steve Azar PK/P Northern Illinois – Camp player. Inconsistent leg strength and accuracy. Blue/Gray Game – Gray Squad #1 Luke McCown QB Louisiana Tech – Priority free agent. Was a shotgun QB. Throws into double coverage. Inconsistent to throwing point. Quick release. Could not make the 15 yard out cut throw to left from right hash. Average arm strength. #17 Robert Kent QB Jackson State – Draft 6th/7th as a project.
