Tandridge Country Watch Newsletter

Bulletin No: 04 20th February 2020

Email: @.pnn.police.uk

Dear Country Watch Members,

Since Christmas there has been an increase in burglaries across Surrey and Tandridge has not escaped this particular spike in crime. I thought the bullet points below would be useful for you to consider.

Open access to the rear of homes will be a great attraction. Burglars often look for homes with windows or doors left open they can exploit. An attraction can be packaging from expensive items outside your front door. Burglars may target homes that appear empty Burglars do not want to be seen or heard and if they feel that they would be noticed by a neighbour or passer by then they are more likely to feel exposed and move on. Sheds and garages are vulnerable as they are not that secure and contain tools which the burglar can use to assist them to gain entry to your home. They sometimes return to an area to try to burgle a nearby home that they spotted while committing a previous break in.

Please can I remind you as the bad weather continues that with the ground being so wet and the shortage of grazing it is vital that you check your boundary hedges and fences several times each day as fences are much easier to push over.

Kind Regards pp. Karen Hughes Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Inspector
