Where Does My Tax Dollar Go? Approx 40% is for school requisition – the school portion is collected by the county using mill rates determined by the province – the county collects that money and gives it to the province in 4 payments during the year – that money is then given to the provincial school boards on a per student basis. The remaining 60% of the tax bill goes to municipal services: o60% - Transportation – maintenance, construction, snow plowing 2500km of roads (same as Camrose to Winnipeg and back), water and sewer, and drainage o8% - ASB – weed control and road side mowing o5% - Protective Services – fire and police o2% - Waste Management – landfill and transfer sites o6% - Library, Senior Lodges, Social Programs, FCSS (after school programs, Support Our Seniors – Income taxes, housing etc) o4% - Recreation o15% - Legislation, Administration, Planning

The County has been working with Enertia Engineering on a pro-type solar light. It has a 85w solar panel and a lithium battery. It is the 1st of its kind in Alberta. The County will be responsible for any maintenance / operational costs. Residents have to bring their recyclables to the mobile recycling trailer during its scheduled stop in their area. (Check the County website for the schedule)

2010 - A Year in Review 42 Camrose County 2010 - Protective Services Camrose County Peace Officers enforce Provincial Statutes listed on their appointments issued by the Solicitor General’s Department. We work with all enforcement agencies within Camrose County. We enforce County bylaws, conduct traffic enforcement including radar and overweight vehicles. Oilfield movement and road use agreements are also managed. Parks and campgrounds are patrolled and fire permits are issued and enforced.

The goal of the D.A.R.E program is to significantly reduce or eliminate the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and the use of violent behavior by young people

The D.A.R.E. program is directed towards developing the capacities needed to enable students to take charge of their lives with emphasis on healthy, pro- social decision making skills.
