akingump.com Diversity & Inclusion The practitioners in our London office come from all different walks of life. The more diverse our teams, the better we can help our international clients. We welcome your unique background, perspective and experience. Akin Gump's mentoring, training and professional development programs support diverse practitioners in building and expanding networks. Vibrant diversity and inclusion committees operate rmwide with local representatives to let you engage with peers, senior lawyers and rm leadership on important issues. We partner with a range of organisations on diversity outreach programmes including Aspiring , Bright Network, City Year and Social Mobility Foundation. “I conducted several vacation schemes but it was my experience on the Akin Gump scheme that really stood out; after discussing diversity initiatives during my interview, the graduate recruitment team organised an informal meeting with two female partners who shared their experiences as successful women in . The rm truly went above and beyond and I experienced the in-built inclusive culture rst-hand. Since joining the rm I have participated in the Pro Bono Scholars programme, travelling to the US to engage in pro bono activities and coordinated a cross-of ce project on a European convention protecting women’s rights. The rm’s genuine commitment to pro bono is outstanding and pro bono is not only encouraged of trainees but rewarded.” Sahar Abas, Trainee “The flexibility of Akin Gump’s provides you with the opportunity to shape your training experience which helps put you in a better position to make a decision for qualification. The immersive learning and early responsibility prepare you well for life as a quali ed . There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in rm life. I recently joined the London of ce Inclusion Council as the trainee representative and have been involved in coordinating a social mobility event which forms part of our external diversity & inclusion partnerships. Additionally, I have been able to assist other members of the Inclusion Council in presenting certain diversity & inclusion partnerships to the London of ce and also feed back to the Inclusion Council on the initiatives I am involved with.” Aaron Jenman, Trainee Solicitor

“As a trainee, you are given as much responsibility as you can handle and are a key part of the teams at Akin Gump. This ‘hands-on’ approach, when coupled with the more structured classroom training the rm provides, offers an excellent environment in which to develop the knowledge and skills required for life as an associate. I’ve also had the opportunity to experience a secondment to our Singapore of ce, which was a fantastic opportunity to build upon my skills towards quali cation.” Kelvin Mahal, Corporate Associate and former Trainee
