Session Objective The objective of Reggaeton Rebellion is to educate ZIN members on the history and background of the rhythm, as well as offer new steps and choreography that can be immediately incorporated into your classes.

History & Background What is Reggaeton?

Reggaeton: (also spelled reguetón or reggaetón) is a style of music that gained popularity in the early 1990’s. Reggaeton takes elements of (or ) “”, Latin American Rhythms (Salsa, , , Bachata, etc), and Hip-Hop and blends them into a unique musical genre with a style of its own.

El Mas Duro-Daddy Yankee

1 Intro Slide side to side raising arms crossed in front

2 Chrous “Oh-Uh” touch hands to shoulders on OH, lift them up for UH while sliding to one side. Repeat on other side. Touch hands to shoulders and reach up and cross at chest for “Soy el Mas Duro”.

3 Verse Jump legs open and closed for Single Single Double while alternating fist punch (uppercut motion)

4 Tag Hip Circles moving in a circle on both sides

5 Verse 2 Shoulder push side to side for SSD

6 Interlude Repeat Intro step

“CALIENTE”-Turn facing all four walls with booty shake on each “caliente”

Push arms out and roll down body on first four “HOT”s, then stop with hands on knees, open and close knees for last two “HOT”s

3 Verse (1) Walk forward with hip and shoulder pops for 8 counts-Walk back with same motion

4 Verse (2) Hop towards one side with arms open, leg extended behind, then bring back in and roll down body in center with booty shake. Repeat 4x

Push arms out and roll down body on first four “HOT”s, then stop with hands on knees, open and close knees for last two “HOT”s

6 Verse (1) Walk forward with hip and shoulder pops for 8 counts-Walk back with same motion

7 Verse (2) Hop towards one side with arms open, leg extended behind, then bring back in and roll down body in center with booty shake. Repeat 4x

Aprovecha-Nova Y Jory

1 Intro Hip Sway back and forth with 3 poses, arms above head, hands framing face, hands framing hips with the music

2 Chorus Reggaeton Stomp to the front Single, Single, then Swing legs and arms back, repeat 3x.

4th time, swing legs and arms all the way to the side. Repeat step but now swinging legs and arms, so you are facing opposite walls on the side

3 Verse Destroza 4 times to the side; walk back with booty shake 4x repeat on other side.

Center: Arm pull with Knee twist both sides, pump twice in the middle. Repeat 4x

Destroza 4 times to the other side; walk back with booty shake 4x. Repeat on opposite side

1 Chorus Swipe the floor with alternating hands 3 times, Close and Open legs (in/out)-repeat starting on opposite side.

Travel forward 4 times arms behind back, Bounce back-Single, Single triple fast

2 Verse Rotate to side with circle arms/circle hips 4 counts, alternate punching arms with the beat of music.

3 Chorus Swipe the floor with alternating hands 3 times, Close and Open legs (in/out)-repeat starting on opposite side.
