MAURIZIO ROLLI GIANCARLO ALFANI

The perfect partnership between two artists who have collaborated for years on the Italian scene is the ingredient that turns the concert on a journey, an experience through original compositions and classics revisited and interpreted with even new ideas.

MAURIZIO ROLLI

Maurizio Rolli is a graduate in double bass and jazz music studies. He is currently teaching electric bass and double bass as well as jazz harmony studies at the Conservatorio “Rossini” in Pesaro, Scuola Civica di Musica di San Giovanni Teatino, at Scuola Civica di Musica di Montesilvano and Conservatorio “L. D’Annunzio” in Pescara, Italy.

He's bass player with R.A.R.E. a new quartet featuring Alex Acuña on percussions, Otmaro Ruiz on and Gianluca Esposito on saxes. He used to play with "X- perience" a trio featuring Hiram Bullock and Israel Varela. Since September 2000 he's director of the "Rolli's tones" , which recorded with Michael Manring and Mike Stern the cd "Moodswings, a tribute to the music of ", released in October 2001, the year of the 50th anniversary of Jaco’s birth. This cd was reviewed as Cd of the month on "Bass Player" Magazine and on "Jazzit" Magazine.

In 2010 his cd “Rolli’s Tones” was released: his big band performs some of the most famous tunes of hard rock music (Aerosmith, Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne and many others). Thanks to this work he started to cooperate with the Metropole Orchestra (director Vince Mendoza), Chicago Jazz University Big band. He gave his contribution as arranger and such as bass player, working with international stars such as Chaka Khan.

In 2010 he was voted as the best Italian arranger and among the three best Italian bass players by the famous jazz magazine “JazzIt”.

GIANCARLO ALFANI

was born in Pescara, Italy, in 1973. He inherited his father passion for . He began guitar studies at the young age of ten, showing a natural talent for music.

He studied with different Italy’s top , also attending various workshops with international guitar players including Mike Stern, Scott Henderson, Joe Diorio.

In 1999 he won the scholarship of Pescara Jazz for the prestigious Columbia College in Chicago where he had the chance to study with, among others, Bill Russo, Scott Hall, Frank Dawson, Ted Hodgart.

He played at some of the most important jazz clubs and festivals in Italy and abroad, also in collaboration with the Rolli’s Tones Big Band. With this orchestra he had the chance to play with Peter Erskine, Mike Stern, Hiram Bullock, Bob Mintzer, Bob Franceschini, Gianluigi Trovesi.

Moreover, he sessioned also with several top musicians, among others: Bob Franceschini, Jim Gailloreto, Damien Schmitt, Israel Varela, Maurizio Rolli, Maurizio Giammarco, Massimo Moriconi, Max Ionata, Claudio Filippini, Nicola Angelucci, Michele Di Toro.
