Mediasite Supported Files for Import

Import of the following media formats is supported by Mediasite. Each has variants in terms of file extension as well as common video and audio supported by the format. Note that files without audio tracks are prohibited from being imported into Mediasite.

Flash File Format

Note: If H.264 files are encoded using Flash Media Live Encoder (FMLE), the output files are fragmented. The output files must be flattened before they can be edited in a tool such as Adobe® Premiere® Pro, or before they can be played back in Adobe® Media Player. Adobe provides a command-line flattening tool for this purpose; see http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_fmle_tools. MFVI supports decoding of flattened as well as fragmented files.

Adobe Connect generates Flash media files with VP6 and Nellymoser audio codec.

Note: 3GP (GSM) and 3G2 (CDMA) are used by mobile devices. They are subsets of the MP4 family. GotoMeeting on Mac will generate MOV or MP4 files with H.264/AVC.

MPEG-TS File Format

Note: Blu-Ray uses this format. Mandates H.262/MPEG-2 Part 2, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC and VC- 1 as video codecs and (AC-3), DTS and LPCM as audio codecs. AVCHD equipment is more restricted and uses only the first two rows.

MP2 File Format

Note: Still used by broadcasters. NPR delivers their MP2 in WAV. Typical bitrates are 256 and 384 kbps.
