Schreiber High School Wednesday, September 30, 1987 ZANETTI TAKES CHARGE Board Names Guidance Head as Acting Principal by Dave Weintraub When Dr. Frank Banta, Schreiber's principal for eight years, departed at the end (rf the last school year for a different job, he left some large shoes to fill. The school board and Superintendent Dr. William Heebink set out on a search for a new principal over the summer. Many applicants were reviewed, but no one was picked. The board and Dr. Heebink decided to extend the search through the 1987-88 school year. To fill the void Dr. Banta had left, they asked John Zanetti, Chairman of the Guidance Department, to serve as acting principal. He accepted, and was given a ten-month contract, which began in September. Most people who know Mr. Zanetti know him as a soft- spoken and amiable man. He has been in the Port Washington school system for many years, and he had humble beginnings. He started work at Salem School as a physical education teacher in 1958. He stayed there for six years and during that time in- troduced wrestling and lacrosse to the high school. He became the first coach of those teams. After Salem, he taught physical educa- tion at Schreiber for two years. He became a guidance counselor in 1967. He was appointed guidance chairman in 1980. He has now moved to the top of Schreiber's administrative lad- der. Has his transition been smooth? "I have an ulcer," he jokes. "Actually, I think I've ad- justed better than I thought I would.

  • Glenn Tilbrook 2013
GLENN TILBROOK Mention Glenn Tilbrook and most people may immediately think of Squeeze. After all, with his writing partner Chris Difford, Tilbrook was responsible for Top Ten hits all around the world such as “Tempted”, “Hourglass”, “Cool For Cats” and “Up The Junction”. Ever since their first EP in 1977, Squeeze has delighted audiences with their brand of honky-tonk new wave and pithy lyricism, while their stock in the music world has seen the likes of Jools Hol- land, Paul Carrack and Elvis Costello all contribute to their work. However, since an acrimonious split in 1998 Squeeze has been on the backburner. Although you might forgive him for resting on his laurels after 13 albums and countless tours all over the world, Tilbrook has continued to write and perform with the same enthusiasm that he brought to Squeeze’s earliest recordings. With his two solo albums, “The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook” and “Transatlantic Ping-Pong”, he proved he’s lost none of the joie-de-vivre that became Squeeze’s trademark. For 2009’s album “Pandemonium Ensues”, he injected some fresh faces by recruiting new band The Fluffers and some prestigious guests in the shape of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. This has been complemented by a conversational live show that is delightfully shambling in its approach – Tilbrook loves blurring the bound- ary between crowd and performer by performing requests and even taking his audience for walkabouts to set up impromptu gigs! Although a Squeeze reunion had always looked unlikely, Tilbrook and Difford’s paths slowly began to cross with more frequency, leading to a series of low-key gigs together in 2007.

  • 092321 Squeeze Press Release
SQUEEZE: THE NOMADBAND TOUR COMES TO THE FLORIDA THEATRE ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2021 Jacksonville, Fla. (June 15, 2021) – The Florida Theatre is pleased to announce Squeeze: The Nomadband Tour on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. Squeeze first formed in 1973, shortly after Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook had begun their songwriting partnership, brought together by an ad in a sweetshop window. By 1977 they had made their recording debut and enjoyed a string of hits which lasted until 1982, the maturity of their songs outliving their initial burst of chart activity on the back of New Wave. Over the years there have been solo careers and occasional separations, but the Ivor Novello Award -winning songwriting duo Chris and Glenn reunited ten years ago to relaunch Squeeze and have been touring, writing and recording together since. 2015 saw the release of the critically acclaimed Cradle to the Grave which was written as a soundtrack to Danny Baker’s BBC TV sitcom Cradle To Grave (starring Peter Kay). This album marked the complete and, frankly, triumphant reintegration of the masterful songwriting axis of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, in a beautifully-observed series of fond vignettes about childhood, growing up and the absurdities of the ride through life we’re all on. The band has long been a captivating live act, and in 2016 they triumphed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury with The Guardian saying they “ [went] down a storm… Squeeze’s success is a pretty infectious thing” and Acoustic magazine concluding that “ they don’t have the bombastic hype of headliners Coldplay, but they have the songcraft and lyrical majesty to leave the headliners in the dust which they duly did.” The band also hit the headlines around the world in 2016 when appearing on the BBC’s current affairs show The Andrew Marr Show alongside fellow guest former Prime Minister David Cameron.

April 20th, CPA building 9:00 a.m. Recital Room A workshop to illuminate the unparalleled possibilities represented by the incorporation of iPads into all disciplines of arts education within the CVPA Barbara WF Miner Head of Studio Department of Art 9 April 2012 1 Q: If David Hockney thinks that iPads are a good artmaking tool-shouldn’t that be enough to convincethe rest of us that they are the best thing since sliced bread? David Hockney drew these images during his stay at Glyndebourne, a 700-year old country house and opera house in East Sussex, England. There he recreated the stage-set for the opera ‘The Rake’s Progress’ by Stravinsky . Looking closely at these drawings one gets a sense of this location. The drawings titled: ‘iPad 6 8 2010’ & ‘iPad 7 8 2010’ were sent as email attachments on 21 August 2010. A: Well no actually. We might need a bit more convincing! Solution: Bring in two gentlemen from the Cleveland Institute of Art to show us just how incredibly useful, groundbreaking, exciting and just plain fun the incorporation of this technology can be in the teaching of ART, ART HISTORY, ART EDUCATION, MUSIC EDUCATION, MUSIC AND THEATRE/FILM! 2 Backstory: Phoebe Ballard and I made a trip to the Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) on March 2, 2012. We met with professors Scott Ligon* (lead) and Jimmy Kuehnle** who have incorporated the use of iPads into their foundations courses in a project called, “Digital Canvas” (http://blog.cia.edu/digitalcanvas/2011/08/21/welcome/). As our discussion progressed, it became obvious to both Phoebe and me that we really needed to find out even more about the possibilities presented by the use of this technology in our classrooms.

  • Squeeze Biog for Approval
It’s 1973 in South London. Teenage friends Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook form the band that will see them dubbed ‘The New Lennon and McCartney’. Over 35 years later, with their legacy intact and as vital as it has ever been, Squeeze are still touring and reminding fans worldwide just why they have left such an indelible impression on the UK’s music scene. As teenagers on the South London scene, Squeeze – setting out their stall early on by facetiously naming themselves after a poorly-received Velvet Underground album, and at the time also comprised of Jools Holland on keys, Harry Kakouli on bass and Paul Gunn on drums - became a fixture of the burgeoning New Wave movement. When Gilson Lavis replaced Gunn on drums everything seemed to fall into place, and word of mouth soon spread about the band - ironically, it was none other than Velvet Underground man John Cale who caught wind in 1977 and offered to produce their debut EP ‘Packet Of Three’ and much of the ensuing album. Yet it was second album ‘Cool For Cats’, released in 1979, which cemented their place as one of Britain’s most important young bands. Featuring the classic single ‘Up The Junction’ as well as the title track, it was many listeners’ first introduction to the witty kitchen-sink lyricism and new-wave guitar music that has become the band’s trademark. With albums ‘Argybargy’ and the Elvis Costello- produced ‘East Side Story’, Squeeze even started to make waves across the pond, although in 1980 former Roxy Music and Ace - and future Mike + The Mechanics – man Paul Carrack would replace Jools Holland, going on to lend his unmistakeable vocals to the smash hit ‘Tempted’.
