She was born on November 23, 1992 in Franklin, Tennessee. Her parents are actress and producer, Tish Cryus, and country legend, Billy Ray Cyrus. Many found Miley Cyrus from her lead role in Disney Channels’ TV show “Hannah Montana” from 2006 to 2011. The American Sitcom is about a teenager named Miley Stewart who lives a double life, transforming into a famous pop singer that goes by Hannah Montana. Her friends and family are the only people who know about her secret identity. After the show ended, Cyrus changed her image from a child entertainer to an adult pop star im- age. She chopped off her long brown hair got a platinum pixie haircut. In 2013, Miley Cyrus re- leased a song called “Wrecking Ball” which is in her fourth studio album, Bangerz. When the mu- sic video came out it caused a lot of attention because of how different it was from her other music videos when she was younger. Miley Cyrus changed her image again with a more tone down than it was during her “Bangerz” era. She felt that phase of her life has come to the end. Cyrus found a balance between maintain- ing a seductive appeal but keeps things more natural like her makeup for her photo shoots. In an interview with ‘Insider’ she stated that “You should be able to change and be who you are at any time. Like, you should not be glued to gender, to age, to race; those things should not define you.” In 2015, Cyrus launched Happy Hippie Foundation, which supports LGBTQ+ and home- less youth. Miley Cyrus clarifies that she does not label herself as gay, bisexual or straight in a con- versation with ‘TIME’. Miley Cyrus is the epitome of a carefree person. She promotes the idea to not care what others think and to do what you want to make yourself happy.

  • RTRFM Presents Frances Ha Opening Night Premiere 24072013
MEDIA RELEASE MEDIA RELASE: Wednesday 24 July 2013 RTRFM PRESENTS ʻFRANCES HAʼ OPENING NIGHT PREMIERE RTRFM presents the opening night premiere of Frances Ha at Luna Cinemas on Thursday 15 August, on the eve of the stationʼs annual Radiothon pledge drive (16–25 August). The pre-film party kicks off at 8.30pm with free Sienaʼs pizzas, wine, and entertainment by RTRFM DJ Chris Wheeldon, followed by the film at 9.15pm. Two of Hollywoodʼs hottest young actors, Greta Gerwig (Greenberg, To Rome With Love) and Adam Driver (HBOʼs Girls) headline this fast, funny and flirty tale of a group of twenty- something New Yorkers trying to find bliss in the Big Apple. Co-writer Greta Gerwig stars as Frances, a dance company apprentice who throws herself head first into her dreams, even as their possible reality dwindles. Despite a range of relatable problems with her career, her living situation and her very best friend Sophie (Mickey Sumner), Frances lives her life with unaccountable joy and lightness. This endearing comic fable from acclaimed director Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale) is a love letter to youth, to New York, to best friends, and to life. RTRFM presenter & Quickflix film critic Simon Miraudo will introduce Frances Ha, with prizes on offer for participants willing to engage in a re-enactment of a hilarious ʻplay-fightingʼ scene from the movie. Part proceeds from the night will go to RTRFMʼs 2013 Radiothon kicking off the next morning with Breakfast with Barr and Artbeat direct from the Art Gallery of WA café. "Glorious.

  • A Gay/Straight Comparison of Gay Voices
A GAY/STRAIGHT COMPARISON OF GAY VOICES A RESEARCH PAPER SUBMITTED TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE MASTER OF ARTS BY SHANE LANNING DR. CAROLYN MACKAY - ADVISOR BALL STATE UNIVERSITY MUNCIE, INDIANA MAY 2015 Lanning-1 Introduction: This study compares 4 gay male comedians and 4 straight male comedians’ performances of “gay speech”. The researcher observed comedians who were performing gay characters for the following three variables: the lisp ([s̪ ] instead of [s]), a raised pitch, and formal [–iŋ] vs. informal [–In] endings. It was hypothesized that both straight comedians and gay comedians would manipulate their [s] production to the dental [s̪ ] when performing a gay character; moreover, the comedians would also raise their pitch during their performance. The [–iŋ] vs. [–In] sounds, because their production below the level of consciousness, would not vary in the homosexual or heterosexual comedians. The purpose of this comparison was to determine how salient the features were in each group in order to identify stereotypical features associated with gay speech. In other words, if all of the comedians were using a particular feature, one could postulate that this feature has a stronger association with perceived gay speakers. Conversely, if the comedians were not using a particular feature, one could postulate that this feature has a weaker association or is not associated at all with perceived gay speakers. In recent studies, participants were asked to rate speakers on a scale of homosexual to heterosexual and a scale of feminine to masculine. In these studies, the data showed that features like the lisp ([s̪ ] instead of [s]), received higher gay ratings; participants rated speakers’ sexuality as gay more often when they exhibited this feature (Mack & Munson, 2012).

  • Lessons Learned from Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
LESSONS LEARNED FROM JUSTICE RUTH BADER GINSBURG Amanda L. Tyler* INTRODUCTION Serving as a law clerk for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the Supreme Court’s October Term 1999 was one of the single greatest privileges and honors of my life. As a trailblazer who opened up opportunities for women, she was a personal hero. How many people get to say that they worked for their hero? Justice Ginsburg was defined by her brilliance, her dedication to public service, her resilience, and her unwavering devotion to taking up the Founders’ calling, set out in the Preamble to our Constitution, to make ours a “more perfect Union.”1 She was a profoundly dedicated public servant in no small measure because she appreciated just how important her role was in ensuring that our Constitution belongs to everyone. Whether as an advocate or a Justice, she tirelessly fought to dismantle discrimination and more generally to open opportunities for every person to live up to their full human potential. Without question, she left this world a better place than she found it, and we are all the beneficiaries. As an advocate, Ruth Bader Ginsburg challenged our society to liber- ate all persons from the gender-based stereotypes that held them back. As a federal judge for forty years—twenty-seven of them on the Supreme Court—she continued and expanded upon that work, even when it meant in dissent calling out her colleagues for improperly walking back earlier gains or halting future progress.2 In total, she wrote over 700 opinions on the D.C.
