Die aktuelle Eddy-Arnold-Veröffentlichung auf Bear Family präsentiert den Country-König in einer Phase des Übergangs, in der er sich von seinen Super-Hits der Endvierziger entfernte und bemüht war, seine Bezeichnung als 'Tennessee Plowboy' abzulegen. Obwohl die Compilation mit dem noch eindeutig 'ländlichen' Tennessee Hillbilly Ghost beginnt, hatte Arnold überall deutlich erklärt, daß er einfach nur noch ein Sänger sein möchte – und nicht ausschließlich ein Country-Sänger. Diese Zusammenstellung zeichnet Arnolds Entwicklung von einem süßlichen Country-Interpreten zu einem aufstrebenden Pop-Crooner nach, der darum hauptsächlich in New York aufnahm und Standards wie Moonlight And Roses, Angry und Unchained Melody einspielte. Während der 60er Jahre half Arnold dann, einen üppigen Sound in der Country Music hoffähig zu machen. Hier hat all das begonnen.
