Having the information you need can make you feel less anxious and more empowered about your care and also help you feel comfortable making decisions. We understand that all our patients are different as to how much information they want to receive. You can help us by telling your healthcare team what you would like to know more about.

You may ask your nurse or other members of your team for our patient education materials, which are meant to give you, your family, friends, and others information on important aspects of your care. SURVIVORSHIP

The term “cancer survivor” can mean different things to different people. For some, it refers to anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer, regardless of whether he or she has ever had or is currently in treatment. Others consider a cancer survivor to be someone who has completed active medical treatments and is free of any signs of disease.

For the purpose of MSK’s Survivorship Depending on the type of cancer you Program, we consider you a cancer have, you’ll either continue to see survivor after you complete active your doctor for your follow-up care, cancer treatment, as determined or you’ll transition to a survivorship by your doctor. clinic, in which your care will be coordinated by the nurse practitioner It’s important to us to continue to (called an NP) or physician assistant support you even after you’re finished (PA) on your treatment team.
