Wisdom: God’s Vision for Life

8 Week Bible Study Program By Jeff Cavins and Thomas Smith

Seek Wisdom and Increase Your Sense of Peace. Scripture and the Tradition of the Catholic Church provide an abundance of wisdom, though it can often be challenging to apply it to our lives. In this eight-part study, Jeff Cavins and Thomas Smith examine biblical wisdom as it relates to daily life. Drawing on the wisdom literature of the Bible—Proverbs, Wisdom, Sirach, and Ecclesiastes—Wisdom: God’s Vision for Life will teach you how to actively seek sound guidance and increase your sense of peace in navigating life.

In everything from friendships to finances, from making decisions to attaining peace of mind, Scripture offers a vision for happiness and well-being. With this program, you will learn how to gather, gain, and grow in wisdom, and you will experience the joy it brings to your life.

Lies Road, Carol Stream, IL 60188 The Year of Saint Joseph is a great opportunity for all of us to become more familiar with this amazing servant of God. In 1989, John Paul II delivered an (a special docu- ment or letter) named (Guardian of the Redeemer) on the occasion of the centenary of Pope Leo XIII's dedicated to St. Joseph. In Redemptoris Custos, Pope John Paul II discuss- es the importance of Saint Joseph in the Holy Family, his role in the plan of redemption, and portrays the saint as a model of a loving father. At the end of the document, Pope John Paul II states that today we still have good reason to commend everyone to St. Joseph, and to ask for his intercession: "Most beloved father, dispel the evil of falsehood and sin...graciously assist us from heaven in our struggle with the powers of darkness...and just as once you saved the Child Jesus from mortal danger, so now defend God's holy Church from the snares of her enemies and from all adversity." This document about St. Joseph will appear in our bulletin for the next several weeks, and I wholeheart- edly encourage you, brothers and sisters, to carefully read it, reflect on it, and allow yourselves to dis- cover the depths of spirituality of this saint, the guardian of the Redeemer. Fr. Mark Jurzyk In this way the whole Christian people not only will turn to St. Joseph with greater fervor and invoke his patronage with trust, but also will always keep before their eyes his humble, mature way of serving and of "taking part" in the plan of salvation. I am convinced that by reflection upon the way that Mary's spouse shared in the divine mystery, the Church - on the road towards the future with all of humanity - will be enabled to discover ever anew her own identity within this redemptive plan, which is founded on the mystery of the Incarnation. This is precisely the mystery in which Joseph of Nazareth "shared" like no other human being except Mary, the Mother of the Incarnate Word.
