Statewide ESRI Education Software License: Agreement Iowa Geographic Information Council (IGIC) Cost of License/Maintenance Agreement
1) Current total contract = $44,000
2) Amounts /prices listed within this document is based on this contracted amount and divided among the number of schools participating in this agreement. IGIC is NOT the vendor of this software, and in fact can NOT even use the software based on this contract. IGIC is merely a facilitator in order to make this license available to Iowa colleges at a reduced cost and to increase the accessibility of GIS software.
3) Major Users – are colleges that request unlimited seats, unlimited software, individual ship-to address and their own tech support. The base fee is $17,000, plus costs of additional tech support and third party software.
4) Limited Users – are smaller colleges that request limited software, limited seats, and share software and tech support. Base fees as of this 2012 agreement are:
o ArcView/ArcEditor - $500 for one classroom/lab with a max of 31 seats; and $50 for each additional lab of 31 seats. This includes extensions (Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, and Geostatistical Analyst) and ArcPad. o ArcInfo - $1000 for one classroom lab with a maximum of 31 seats; and $100 for each additional lab of 31 seats. This also includes the extensions and ArcPad o Maximum seats for a Limited User is 124; more than this the school is considered a Major User o Fees for additional software or services are listed below. o All of these fees are calculated by discounting normal lab fees that ESRI charges individual colleges, to assure cost savings to statewide license users.
5) Requests by limited user institution for a separate “ship to” or “Tech Support” is additional services above what is listed here, and is the responsibility of that institution to be paid at the rate described by ESRI. The cost will be added to that college’s cost share due to IGIC, and passed onto ESRI. These fees are listed in the table below.
6) IGIC pays an amount consistent with being supportive of this initiative without having to bear a major cost. Additional schools that want to be added to the contract as a limited use college would pay IGIC for the use of the license. This is not an income source for IGIC; however if the number of colleges participating in this agreement increase to the point that the amount collected is greater than the ESRI fee, the fee amount will be adjusted accordingly. Colleges that want to be added to the contract as a Major User would require an adjustment of the contract.
7) Those schools that do not have their own “ship to” address would request software from IGIC contract administrator. The school is responsible for installation (tech support is provided for installation for 30 days) and returning the software in comparable condition within one week. 8) Those schools that do not have their own “tech support” will have access to various methods of assistance including ESRI website, listserve and message board sponsored by IGIC. If these methods do not solve the problem, tech support is available through the subscription administrator/IGIC.

No prorated refund for remaining time of license will be given. Schools will be responsible for any fees or costs of software on their own.
10) Schools that want to be added to the license, need to request this in writing to the license administrator. New schools will pay an amount as listed above. Contact Terry Brase ([email protected])
11) Schools that need to make changes to software used need to request this in writing to the license administrator. They will be subject to prorated prices as listed above.
Benefits and services covered within the Statewide License Support Services—Software support services are included and will be provided in accordance with the ESRI technical support program. Users must contact a License Specialist, as listed in the full contract, for technical support. Since many problems can be easily taken care of by simple research, users should make every effort to use ESRI resources such as the ESRI forums, technical reports, on-line helps, and IGIC list serve before contacting License Specialists. Major Users will contact their college representative, Kevin Kane or Robin McNeeley for ISU and Ramathan Suguramen for UNI; Limited users will contact Terry Brase, Kirkwood Community College.
Upgrades and Support—During the general commercial release, ESRI will deliver one (1) upgrade package to each of the ship-to address specified; Iowa State University, University of Northern Iowa and Kirkwood Community College (representing limited users) which will ship copies of upgrades to those license participants that are current for payments.
Software-- The Site License provides the right to copy and install for student or faculty use the following ESRI products. The most current list is available ESRI on-line.

Virtual Campus An unlimited Virtual Campus training subscription (every year), on the condition that the renewal fees have been paid and the contract is current. An ESRI Virtual Campus training subscription gives access to all asynchronous, auto-attended Virtual Campus courses authored by ESRI. Contact your license specialist for course codes.
Student Versions of Software A full version of ArcView 10.x is available to students and faculty of schools listed under a statewide license agreement. The disk requires registration and will “time out” after 12 months. The disks are available by request from the ESRI website
