WHEELER SPORTS CENTER CONTAINING THE JAMES AND LILA MILLER GYMNASIUM George Fox College begins its fourth year in the Coleman H. Wheeler Center for Sports and Physi­ cal Education. Completed in June 1977, the )2.7 million, 55,000-squore-foor complex is the col­ lege's largest building. It contains the James and Lila Miller Gymnasium, the Oruin home court. The sports center was designed by noted archi­ tect Pietro Oelluschi , with a wooded canyon set­ ting chosen as the center's location. The building features wood products and a Iorge window area overlooking the adjacent natural terrain. Three times larger than Hester Gymnasium, which it replaced, the Wheeler Center features a 116 x 174-foot gymnasium with three basket­ boll courts and seating for 2,700 spectators. With its notional headquarters and staff located in Kansas City, Missouri, the NAIA is organized into J1 distrias. The Distria Executive Committee is the governing body in each distria, with the district chairman serving as the chief officer. Willard, who officially becomes GFC's next basketball coach and athletic director Aug. 15, says Taylor will take over from Rich Allen next season. Allen, the Bruins track coach, earlier this spring asked not to again have the basketball coaching duties . Taylor, 25 next week, played under Willard three years at Caldwell High School in Idaho, then followed Willard to Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Wash., for another two years. A 1974 George Fox graduate, Taylor, currently the Bruin baseball boss, will teach half time in the college's physical education department. He is completing a masters deg+ee at Linfield College.

The building is a $2.4 million, 51 ,000 square-foot complex featuring ath­ letic administration and faculty offices, a staff room, class, weight, and multipurpose rooms on the upper level.
