Job Purposes: The Head of Professional Learning will work closely with the Director of Teaching School Hub to lead the Teaching School Hub’s Professional Learning for leaders and teachers across North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

The DRET Teaching School Hub will play a central role in the training and development of teachers working in all phases/types of school across North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. The DRET Teaching School Hub is committed to collaborating with excellent providers in our region to ensure that the quality of teacher and leader development is of the highest quality and provides excellent value for money for school leaders, enabling them to drive sustainable and meaningful improvement in their schools. The quality of teaching and learning is the single biggest driver of school improvement and we want to reach as many schools in our region as possible, working in partnership with current providers to ensure that all schools benefit from the expertise.

This is a three year fixed term contract, with funding to August 2024.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of Professional Learning will:

• Work with the Director of the Teaching School Hub to lead the development of the Teaching School Hub’s provision. • Provide leadership and strategic development on the creation and delivery on the Teaching School Hub’s continuing professional development (CPD) by: o Utilising research and evidence-informed practice to support design and delivery o Managing the implementation, quality assurance and evaluation of provision o Forward planning the strategic development of all aspects of professional learning o Considering the local and regional need to inform the development of a local CPD offer o Responding to the development needs identified by stakeholders • Develop and deliver the Early Career Framework, ensuring that all Early Career teachers engage in this new provision. • Develop and deliver the new National Professional Qualifications for school leaders, ensuring that all schools engage with this provision as the main vehicle for leadership development. • Support the recruitment and provision of Initial Teacher Education • Support the provision of Appropriate Body services for Early Career Teachers. • Work collaboratively with neighbouring Teaching School Hubs to provide a joined-up offer across the hub areas • Work with strategic partners to develop other opportunities to improve the quality of teacher and leadership development and support the TSH’s provision • Create and implement an effective communication strategy that enables teachers and leaders to make informed choices to support their professional development • Provide regular updates and impact reports to inform improvement planning for the Teaching School Hub • Maintain accurate records for reporting to national and regional agencies, such as DfE • Be accountable for the impact of the Teaching School Hub’s Professional Learning and performance against relevant KPIs. • Represent the TSH at events as required • Undertake other duties as required by the Director of Teaching School Hub commensurate with the grade of the post • Deputise for the Director of Teaching School Hub when required
