Upgrading the iWork and iLife Applications

There are two folders; iLife and iWork, each include the applications for the suite you select.

Inside each folder are the individual DMG files for each application. This will allow individual downloads that will help on slower networks. Selecting a DMG will start the download of a particular package. To verify what is being downloaded, look to your browsers download menu. Here is an example using safari.

All downloaded DMG files will be located in your Downloads folder. If you will be installing these applications on other systems you may want to move them out of this location and keep them in another location if you are planning on using them on other systems. Once you have the DMG’s downloaded double click to open. This will mount a disk image on your Desktop. Opening each DMG will show the application inside.

To install the newly downloaded applications you will need to simply replace the existing versions. To do these open the Applications folder by using the “Go” menu and selecting the “Applications”.

Inside the Applications folder there is an iWork folder which includes Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, simple drag and drop into this folder. NOTE: you will need to be logged in as the admin user! The iLife applications are very similar but the applications just need to be placed into the Applications folder directly.
