The respondents indicated that the following will greatly effect the continua­ tion of present operations at 64 percent; the increase of black officers and commiLLee members al 44 percent, the addressing of unique I-IBCUs issues at 54 percent, and in­ crease black attendance at conferences at 46 percent. Implications The findings listed provide pertinent data regarding I-IBCUs' present, past, and future participation in APPA and regional associations. These findings will give the leaders of these associations a clearer understanding of the needs, as­ pirations, and expectations of HBCU institutions. The findings suggest that leaders must be keenly aware and ac­ tively approach this population with deliberate concern. The potential in0uence of HBCUs is vital to the growth of APPA and improved facilities management at these institu­ tions. Moreover, serious and determined efforts will promote awareness of APPA among senior officers of the institutions served by facilities management personnel. Ad­ ditionally, they will establish membership and bring within APPA this section of stakehold ers.
