Yvonne Newbegin has organised the delivery rota for some years but has decided it is time to ‘retire’, at least from this role. Our thanks go to Yvonne for all she has done to ensure the magazine is delivered around the parish as quickly as possible once it is received from the printers. Tina Vine (the Editor) has agreed to share the distribution task with Cllr Jacquie Shaw and they will be in touch with all ‘Yvonne’s’ helpers for future dis- tribution – our thanks also go to them all. Outlook is a useful and much appreciated Parish Magazine for residents in the Parish – thank you all. If you feel you could help with distribution do please get in touch. North Totton developments: Residents may or may not be aware that much of the area being described as ‘North Totton’ and due for major development including something in the region of 900 homes will actually involve land which is in the parish of Netley Marsh. This will be the main item on the APM agenda in 2019. The Parish Council would welcome residents views on the proposals. A design guide has been developed by NFDC which can be viewed at http://www.nfdc.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=36640&p=0 it must be stated that the design guide is just that, a guide, this does not constitute actual planning proposals but provides developers with a guide as to what is considered acceptable. Actual plans will eventually be put forward for permission at a later stage and will need to be commented on in the normal way. We hope that this has been done and that there will be no flooding incidents in the parish this coming winter. For further information please see: https://ehipc.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/hcc-flood-risk-management-guidance-for-landowners-leaflet.pdf Lengthsman: The scheme is now beginning to work well, walkers may have noticed some of the amazing work done on footpaths 12 and 16, the photos give an indication of the improvement which resulted. If residents are walking footpaths and find a problem it is helpful if you can let us know and/ or report the issue on the HCC website, thank you - Councillors cannot walk all the paths, you are our eyes on this issue. Who to contact? It may be helpful for residents to be aware of who to contact when problems occur: Any issues relating to speeding or traffic issues need to be reported directly to Hampshire Highways. See HCC website. Flooding or blocked ditch/waterway issues should be reported to the Clerk AND Hampshire Flood Management team - [email protected] Reports regarding rats need to be reported to NFDC Pest Control for treatment/advice, see nfdc website. Tree issues – should again be reported to NFDC or NFNPA Tree Officers see their websites for contact information. For housing and tenancy issues, if residents need to contact the housing department, they can call 023 8028 5000, and housing is option 2. The New Forest District Council Website also lists other ways for residents to get in contact. Wards of Netley Marsh Parish Council The two wards of Netley Marsh Parish Council – Netley Marsh North and Netley Marsh South - are to be discontinued with effect from the May 2019 local elections. The decision was made by New Forest District Council, following a request from the Parish Council and consulta- tion with residents. Under the current arrangements, one parish councillor represents the 313 electors of Netley Marsh North and six represent the 1,398 electors of Netley Marsh South. With effect from the May 2019 elections, seven parish councillors will represent the whole parish. • Report Re A336 7.5 Tonne Weight Limit Proposal
COPYTHORNE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING – 13th APRIL 2021 ITEM 10 – A336 (Southampton Road through Cadnam & Bartley and Ringwood Road through Netley Marsh) – Proposal to HCC Highways for a 7.5 tonne Weight Limit Background At the March 9th 2021 Council meeting, a resident of Netley Marsh spoke in the public session about a proposal being presented to Netley Marsh Parish Council seeking their support for a 7.5 tonne weight limit on the A336 through Netley Marsh. Given that the A336 continues westwards from Netley Marsh through Bartley and Cadnam, similar support was sought from Copythorne Parish Council. Current position Netley Marsh Parish Council has confirmed it’s support and we have been provided with a copy of the document giving full details of the proposal that will be submitted to HCC Highways (Appendix 1) to this report. (Note:- In the first paragraph of Section 2 (Introduction) of the document reference is made to the proposal being “supported by Netley Marsh Parish and Copythorne Parish Councils on behalf of the residents of the impacted villages.” The support of Copythorne Parish Council is being requested and has not yet been agreed. Key Points to consider i. Such a weight limit would greatly reduce the level of larger vehicles using the Southampton Road through the Parish. ii. A 7.5 tonne weight limit is already in place from the A336 roundabout with the A326 (“Goodies”) through to the centre of Totton. iii. The limit would not apply to vehicles requiring access to businesses etc. along the route, such as to the saw mill at Bartley, the garden centre at Cadnam, school buses, etc.

  • Lepe to Fawley History - Rosemary Devereux-Jones (July 2019)
Summary of Historical Potential Lepe to Fawley history - Rosemary Devereux-Jones (July 2019) Statement of Historical Potential for Lepe to Fawley This trail paths to the east of the Dark Water River are shown on Thomas Milne’s map of 1791 and shown as rights of way, including the paths to the west in Exbury, on the OS map of 1810. The Cadland Estate is owned by R Drummonds Esq – large portions of this land is later sold to construction of Fawley Refinery. The trail covers areas extensively used during WW2 and for D-Day preparation and activity. An area on Badminston Common includes the holding tank area for PLUTO used during WW2 for fuel supplies. Near Mopley pond are the remains of the pump house used in the PLUTO operation. There are several remains of WW2 military installations throughout the trail area. The trail includes areas of ancient woodland at Chale Wood on path 13 and Calshot National Nature Reserves and SSSi on path 4 which is nationally important for overwintering waders and wildfowl. Indicated on the ArcGIS map is an ironworks on path 503 on the River Dark Water. There is the site of a brickworks, brick kiln and claypits on Whitefield Rough, mentioned in the 1841 census, next to clay pits to the south of this footpath. The bricks are said to have been used around Exbury and Beaulieu. Mills are indicated at Mopley and Stanswood on Taylor’s map 1759 (paths 12a and 10) although the Mills archive mentions only Stanswood watermill. There are stories of smuggling with the Mopley area being used for storage of contraband.
