This Placement position offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow by having a high level of exposure and responsibility from day one.

Job Details:

MadBid.com is searching for bright individuals that are looking to grow & accept new responsibilities in a short period of time. The role will be focused on auction management and buying which are both core departments in the company. The auction management department’s main responsibilities is planning and placing all products on the live site along with making sure the customer service experience is excellent, i.e. no technical errors. Another responsibility is optimising revenue generated from our customers. There are several tools and processes already in place or in development to give us a better understanding of this rather complicated business model. The buying department’s main responsibility is to source the goods. Along with sourcing goods the buying team maintains a healthy relationship with suppliers. Product innovation is also a key to buying as keeping with the latest trends ensures a stable demand for users.

This position is best suited to people who are reliable and like to think of themselves as a perfectionist. College or university education is considered a plus, but more important is evidence of maturity and dedication to making sure quality work is produced.

You will work together with several other departments in particular the technical and marketing teams and will have regular contact with all the markets as well as upper management. Auction management is done in rotating shifts, 9:00am-4:00pm and 4:00pm 00:00am, the majority of our staff work the day shift. This position is also open to students wishing to work part-time while studying at University. Weekend work can also be part of this position.

Your starting date in our London (Victoria) office will be as soon as possible with positions also open for the summer.

Key Responsibilities:

 Product planning, planning auctions for the next coming days  Profitability analysis  Ad hoc data analysis, based on SQL, Excel, and statistical models  Monitoring of auctions, making sure the user experience is good and that there is sufficient speed and number of auctions.  General business process improvement and development as the company is still in many ways a .  Excellent communication skills when communicating with suppliers.

Requirements:

Sound knowledge of computers, software/applications and technology. You should feel at ease with numbers and MS Excel and you should have a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.

• Personal integrity & business mind-set • Highly motivated and punctual • An analytical mind-set • Highly organised • Able to perform & communicate well within a team as well as independently • Eligibility to live, work in the UK • A higher than average competence with computers, software/applications (MS Office) and technology.

Additional skills in data analysis, MySQL and statistical analysis are a plus.

Salary/Expenses will be decided once you are successful and will be based on your knowledge and experience to date. Your starting date in our London (Victoria) office will be from early/mid June.
