Pressemitteilung Schauriger Puzzle-Spaß Ab Sofort Für Nintendo Pressemitteilung Bendy and the Ink Machine Schauriger Puzzle-Spaß ab sofort für Nintendo Switch, PlayStation®4 sowie Xbox One verfügbar! This is most obvious in games that remediate classic literature. From the text-based adventure Dracula (CRL 1986) and the dubious side-scrolling action of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Bandai 1988), to more recent examples such as Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Gray Syndrome (MagicIndie 2012) and The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature (La Belle Games 2019), video game creators have consistently adopted and adapted Gothic characters, tropes, and narratives. In some cases the works of a specific author have been used as the foundation of a game space, as in The Dark Eye (Inscape 1995), a point-and-click game based on the writings of Edgar Allan Poe.

  • Evolution of the Youtube Personas Related to Survival Horror Games
Toniolo EVOLUTION OF THE YOUTUBE PERSONAS RELATED TO SURVIVAL HORROR GAMES FRANCESCO TONIOLO CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF MILAN ABSTRACT The indie survival horror game genre has given rise to some of the most famous game streamers on YouTube, especially titles likes Amnesia: The Dark Descent (Frictional Games 2010), Slender: The Eight Pages (Parsec Productions 2012), and Five Nights at Freddy’s (Scott Cawthon 2014). The games are strongly focused on horror tropes including jump scares and defenceless protagonists, which lend them to displays of overemphasised emotional reactions by YouTubers, who use them to build their online personas in a certain way. This paper retraces the evolution of the relationship between horror games and YouTube personas, with attention to in-game characters and gameplay mechanics on the one hand and the practices of prominent YouTube personas on the other. It will show how the horror game genre and related media, including “Let’s play” videos, animated fanvids, and “creepypasta” stories have influenced prominent YouTuber personas and resulted in some changes in the common processes of persona formation on the platform. KEY WORDS Survival Horror; Video Game; YouTube; Creepypasta; Fanvid; Let’s Play INTRODUCTION Marshall & Barbour (2015, p. 7) argue that “Game culture consciously moves the individual into a zone of production and constitution of public identity”. Similarly, scholars have studied – with different foci and levels of analysis – the relationships between gamers and avatars in digital worlds or in tabletop games by using the concept of “persona” (McMahan 2003; Waskul & Lust 2004; Isbister 2006; Frank 2012). Often, these scholars were concerned with online video games such as World of Warcraft (Filiciak 2003; Milik 2017) or famous video game icons like Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series (McMahan 2008).

Download this game now: TheMeatly Games, 2017 Survival horror, Puzzle, Action http://gamejolt.com/games/bendy-and-the-ink-machine/231092 Available in Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux INTRODUCTION Bendy and the Ink Machine is an episodic puzzle action horror video game developed by TheMeatly Games. The first chapter of the game was originally released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux on February 10, 2017. The game’s first chapter features imagery reminiscent of early animated cartoons, and the player navigates through an animation studio with the objective of activating a large ink machine, solving puzzles in order to do so. The game’s first chapter has been approved for release on Steam via its crowdsourcing platform Steam Greenlight. The game’s second chapter is scheduled for release in April 2017. First-person cartoon horror. Your old workmate at the Bendy animation studio has sent you a letter asking you to drop by. But the place is in a right state and completely derelict. Wood planks are falling from the ceiling, papers and drawings are scattered everywhere, and there seems to be ink dripping from places where ink should not be. To get the place up and running you’ve got to find six objects and get the ink flowing again. Bendy and the Ink Machine is a particularly nice short game with old- cartoonish aesthetics and an excellent ambience, which manages to be creepy and good looking. Also, the environmental sounds are at the same level of quality. Given that it’s intended to be an episodic game, there isn’t a lot to write about the story, so to avoid telling you too much, I will only say that you have to face an evil entity which was apparently created from a cartoon.

Hicks A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts (History of Art and Design) School of Liberal Arts and Sciences Pratt Institute May 2020 1 2 Acknowledgments The idea for this thesis was based on a project I did for my Knowledge Organization course in Spring 2018. The instructor for that course was Bree Midavaine, who also served as a second reader for this project. She was not only a wealth of great ideas and references, but also the first person to convince me that video games could be the subject of serious academic study. Thanks Bree! I would like to thank my advisor, Dr. Joo Yun Lee, who not only provided immeasurably helpful feedback and resources, but much-needed support during incredibly uncertain and stressful times. I would absolutely not have been able to finish this project and keep my sanity without her. Truly, truly, thank you. Finally, I’m going to be the cheesiest and thank my parents, Brian and Laura, who have always supported and believed in me. Thank you both for pretending to care about video games for the months I was working on this project. 3 Table of Contents Acknowledgments 2 Table of Contents 3 Introduction 4 Chapter 1: The Importance of Taxonomies 7 The Importance of Controlled Language in Library and Museum Cataloging 8 Controlled Language for Video Games 11 Controlled Language for Video Game Creators 16 Chapter 2: Creating a User-Focused Taxonomy 20 User-Created Language 22 Library Users 23 Museum Users 28 Academic Users 30 Chapter 3: Creating an Accurate and Specific Taxonomy 33 Video Games and 2D Animation 34 Video Games, Illustration, and Painting 36 Developer’s Intentions and Video Game Realism 39 The Technology of Video Games 43 Conclusion 49 Appendix 1 52 Appendix 2 55 Bibliography 58 4 Introduction The language used in library and museum curatorial settings to catalog and describe artworks is fundamental to our understanding of that work.
