4. ABOUT INSTITUTE
Government Engineering College Raipur was established in 2006 as a centre for imparting quality Engineering Education in Chhattisgarh. It is affiliated to Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University Bhilai and recognized by AICTE, New Delhi. The college is functioning in a large unified academic campus, having sound and self-sufficient infrastructure. This institute has been engaged in nurturing minds through a rich heritage of academic excellence. Essentially a hub of bustling student activities, the beautiful campus has been a second-home to thousands of students in their journey to challenge the times.
The main objective of the institute is to coordinate, supervise, regulate, guide and provide leadership in all aspects of technological and engineering education and to provide economical and quality education to the aspirants. The vision of the institute is to provide excellence in Technical Education and meet the growing demands of industries in the current scenario as well as to inculcate the spirit of Self reliance and employability among the students thereby benefitting the society.
College imparts education in degree courses of branches of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. It also focuses on encouraging and nourishing skills and overall personality development of students for which various clubs have been formed at college such as AVESH Club, SAE Club, CODE Club, E-CELL Club and LOK Club under START UP CELL. It is well equipped with modern Labs, workshops, Smart Classes, e-library, Wi-Fi facility and splendid auditorium. The college offers a multicultural learning environment with the mesmerizing beauty and atmosphere for education, shaping the dreams of students into reality.

6. ABOUT CHHATTISGARH SWAMI VIVEKANANDA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY (CSVTU) (AFFILIATING UNIVERSITY The Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University (CSVTU) is the affiliating university of Government Engineering College Raipur. It was established by an act (No. 25 of 2004) of legislature passed by the Chhattisgarh State Govt. Assembly vide notification no. 639/21-A/Praroopan/04 dt 21st January 2005 to incorporate a University and Technology for the purpose of ensuring systematic, efficient and quality education in engineering and technological subjects including Architecture and Pharmacy at Research, Post graduate, Degree and Diploma level.The University since its inception in the year 2005 is striving hard to emerge as one of the nations prominent Universities to fulfill its commitment to the service of state and nation. It was inaugurated on 30th April 2005. The University without waiting for full fledged infrastructure development started identifying the frontier area of research and development and outreach programmes for the benefit of the soc9iety. With this approach several academic programmes, seminars, workshops and conferences have been conducted by the University. In order to improve the standards of the education and enable the students to acquire the knowledge and skills required in the professional world the scheme of teaching, learning

The efforts have been widely appreciated and the University has earned distinction of introducing soft skills as a part of the curriculum. The courses include communication skills, group discussion, human values education, health hygiene and yoga, personality development, entrepreneurship and project based learning. The permanent campus of the University encircles 250 acres of land in the vicinity of Bhilai township considered to be one of the most eminent education hubs in India. The formalities of acquisition of land have been completed and construction of the University building and related facilities are in progress. The construction of University Administrative building is complete

University has introduced digitalized evaluation system over the last few years that has brought in a sea-change in the publication of result precisely ahead of the schedule, thereby increasing substantially the available time for teaching and interaction with the students. Owing to the different reformative measures adopted by the university, WORLD MANAGEMENT CONGRESS, Higher Education and Development Summit, conferred “EMERGING TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE YEAR AWARD” on 30th Dec 2011 during the global meet held at world Management Congress New Delhi.
7. ACADEMIC AUTONOMY Government Engineering College Raipur follows the syllabus prescribed by Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University. The courses of study and scheme of Examination is well defined by the university. Thus Government Engineering College does not has Academic Autonomy and follows the CSVTU Academic Calender.

Library has subscription to INFLIBNET (Information and Library Network) through NLIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) Programme. KOHA Library software is available as an advanced library facility. The college Library has Open Access System and is well air conditioned having Wi- Fi and LAN connectivity. It also is equipped with UPS so that students and faculty members can avail uninterrupted Library facility.
11.2 COMPUTER CENTRE A computer centre well furnished with 75 computer systems with server is available at the library of the college, with uninterrupted internet facility through LAN and Wi-Fi, so that student could access Internet resource materials with a click of mouse and utilize the computer centre to their best.

11.4 HOSTELS Three F-type quarters and 18 H-type quarters have been issued to Students as temporary hostels. Apart from it, 20 seater SC/ST Hostel are under construction and will be allotted soon to the SC/ST students.

A one day national webinar on “THE IMPORTANCE OF GENDER EQUALITY IN PRESENT SCENARIO” was organized on 25th June 2020 from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM by Government Engineering College Raipur CG using Google Meet Platform under the bannership of Internal women Complaint Redressal Cell under TEQIP-III project at Police Control Room, Bhilai.
The Convenor of this webinar was Dr. Shweta Choubey, Prof. and Head of Basic Sciences, Dr. Y. P. Banjare, TEQIP-III Coordinator and Dr Awanish Kumar Upadhyay, Associate professor, Physics was its organizing Secretary. The organizing committee consisted of Ms. Dewashri Pansari, Asst.

The eminent speakers who spoke over this event were i.) Shri Rohit Jha, Add. Sup. of Police, City Bhilai (C.G.), ii.) Smt. Pragya Sharma, Add. Sup. of Police, IUCAW, Durg and iii.) Shri Praveer Tiwari, Deputy Supt. of Police, Crime Branch Durg (C.G.). It was the first time reputed speakers from the Police department interacted with the students of the college through an online platform and made them aware of various issues and solutions related to Gender Equality. Guest Speaker Shri Rohit Jha emphasized that we need to change our mentality in terms of Gender equality as it has become a social evil and in order to fight it back we need to fight it back starting from our homes.
Smt. Pragya Jha shared information in terms of Female rights, what kind of rights women posses and enlightened the listeners with the legal aspect of Domestic Violence against women, Mental and physical torture against the women and Children and the harrasment occurring against the women at the work place. Shri Praveer Tiwari shared his valuable experience in terms of importance of women equality and gave a comparative analysis of the Rural and urban scenario of gender equality, why it is required and how it can be achieved. Along with them, Convenor Dr. Shweta Choubey, in her welcome speech focussed on the fact that many activities are being carried out in terms of women empowerment yet many more are to be carried out. It is a global issue and one of the important goals of 17 Sustainable development goals.
A 209 participants including faculty members and students from GECR and other colleges actively joined in the Webinar. The participants asked their queries related to the topic, which the eminent speakers explained thoroughly. Superb feedback were received from the participants like “Many unknown facts about women equality and the lesson were learned”, “I learned about women's rights issued by our government and also how to promote gender equality”, “That women should be respected. I learned about provisions and laws related to women protection and empowerment”, “Gender equality is intrinsically linked to sustainable development & is vital to the realization of human rights for all. The overall objective of gender equality is a society in which women & men enjoy the same opportunities” and likewise many more.
Overall faculty members and students benefited from this one day national Webinar and received online certificates of appreciation. They became aware of the fact that “Ending all discrimination

37. OVERALL IMPACT of TEQIP PROJECT on INTITUTE PERFORMANCE
Today’s emerging technologies that grow rapidly in all disciplines of engineering due to day- by-day revelation of newer research outcomes. To become a world-class technological Institute and to keep abreast with emerging technologies Government Engineeing College Raipur prepared the strategic plan for institutional development. TEQIP Programe became boon to fullfill our dream. The TEQIP programe at GEC Raipur implemented in two phases, TEQIP II and TEQIP III. The good governance policies and progressive approach of the World Bank and NPIU improved the overall academic and administration process; the Institute have the state of the art technology facilities and infrastructure. Brief details are as follows,
(i) The faculty and staff have trained to improve in terms of qualifications and competency.
(ii) The institute has strengthened with improved laboratory and computing facilities, advanced campus networking and upgraded teaching-learning resources in all respects.
(iii) The transition rate of students is raised to a reasonable value.
(iv) Institution achieved gainful employment and confidence to the student through the establishment of soft skill activities, employability assessment by AMCAT, STANFORD University assessment, and NASCOM assesment.
(v) Library RFID Automation enabled the library to operate seamlessly and effectively with library staff.
(vi) Institue Management Information system under TEQIP programe, which is enabling the system to improve the Quality of services.
(vii) Improved teaching learning process through smart class rooms which are equipped with Smart Board, Electronic Lecturn procured under TEQIP programme.
(viii) The TEQIP eabled wifi campus through campuswise wide network, through optical cable, routers etc.
(ix) The mentorship of GCE, Salem brought,Research competence and capacity building among both faculty and students through the twinning arrangement, one of the mandatory activities of the TEQIP program
(x) The Collabrative Research Scheme brought the Research & Development and Innovations culture in the institue without TEQIP programe it would have been imposible.

38. CONCLUSIONS
The College “Annual Report-2019-20” is a brief glimpse of the activities of the College. It highlights the successes and achievements of the College Students. Annual Report widens the knowledge and helps studying the progress made by the college. Many milestones have been achieved and many more to be crossed across. We at GEC Raipur will continue our unceasing efforts to mould the young minds into eminent Engineers, citizen and ultimately a good human being.
The Institute striving to become a world-class technological Institute and to keep abreast with emerging technologies that grow rapidly in all disciplines of engineering due to day-by-day revelation of newer research outcomes and technical know-how, and introduction of faster methodologies, the faculty and staff are trained to improve in terms of qualifications and competency, the institute has strengthened with improved laboratory and computing facilities, advanced campus networking and upgraded teaching-learning resources in all respects. The TEQIP Project enabled the college to create the state of the art technology facilities and infrastructure. The transition rate of students raised to a reasonable value. Further, it is reasonable to expect institution able to find gainful employment and contribute to the growth of economy and industry of the nation.
We have a great mission ahead and it is to facilitate our students learn the right thing and enable them to manifest what they have meant . This manifestation of perfection is possible if our minds and hearts are united in achieving the goal we have set. We would like to conclude by quoting our College motto:- “लोक हिताय”, for “The Welfare of the People”
