02 Esher Cricket Club Annual Report and Accounts 2009 0303 Treasurer’s Report Savills ‘Return to profi tability’ the ultimate all rounder In the year ended 30th September 2009 the Club made a profi t on normal activities before depreciation and taxation of £5,312, an improvement of £17,502 on the loss of £12,190 in the prior year. Clearly this is a signifi cant step in the right direction but there is still some way to go before we break even after tax and depreciation.

Revenue increased by approximately £47,000, primarily due to strong colts and family membership, additional sponsorship and fundraising, increased hire of the Club and ground, improved bar sales together with revenue from food and courses.

Costs broadly increased in line with revenue and the increase in activity at the Club. Greater fi nancial control has been introduced including the regular monitoring of margins on trading Stephen Raven, ECC member (left) and Robert Adams, Savills (middle) presenting a cheque to John Woollhead of Esher Cricket Club activity. The margin on the provision of food was disappointing and this will be corrected in 2010. Helping the local community is something that Savills is immensely proud of. All other margins were in line with expectation.
