Senior Coach’s Report Women’s Team Coach’s Report

2017 was an historic year for both the Box Hill and Hawthorn As I approached my first year as Senior Coach at the Box Hill Football Clubs with our first foray into Women’s Football. Hawks I was excited by what lay ahead. To David Mirra; who in Round Seventeen vs Essendon captained the Box Hill Hawks for the 74th occasion and became the Club’s longest serving Captain, surpassing the record of Alex Gardiner who captained Box Hill in 73 games between Alec Gillon Award 1963 and 1967.

The Box Hill Hawks Football Club is proud to acknowledge Lindsay Wilson; who was the recipient of the Alec Gillon Award in 2017 which is awarded annually by A.F.L. Victoria “in V.F.L. Representation recognition of an honorary club official who has provided outstanding service to their club or to Football in general”. Interstate Representative Match Congratulations to Chris Jones, Andrew Moore and Sam Lindsay has been a lifelong friend of the Club and 2017 marks Switkowski who played in the V.F.L. Representative Team 50 years since his first official involvement with the Box Hill against the W.A.F.L. on Saturday, 27th May 2017. The Football Club, as a player for the Thirds in 1967. Since then he W.A.F.L. 20.14(134) defeated the V.F.L. 10.11(71) at Port has served the Club continuously in many different roles Melbourne Cricket Ground. including as a Director, committeeman, bingo worker, canteen helper, odd-jobs man and, of course, in his best known role as Team of the Year the match day official who staffs the Middleborough Road gate. Congratulations to Chris Newman (Coach), Andrew Moore (ruck-rover) and Anthony Brolic (interchange) who were All of Lindsay’s many friends at the Club extend to him their selected in the 2017 V.F.L.
