Granada remain a point ahead of their Dutch rivals and must win in Greece to secure top spot – or hope that PSV do not defeat bottom-placed Omonoia in Eindhoven. Previous meetings • PAOK became the first team to avoid defeat against Granada in a European game when they held them to a goalless draw in southern Spain on Matchday 2. • PAOK have now played against Spanish clubs in 11 UEFA matches, and remain unbeaten in Salonika (W3 D2). The only goals conceded in those five home fixtures all came in one game – a 4-4 draw against Atlético de Madrid in the second round of the 1997/98 UEFA Cup. Form guide PAOK • PAOK finished distant runners-up to Olympiacos in the 2019/20 Greek Superleague in defence of their title, but they harboured high hopes of reaching the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time this season when, under former coach Abel Ferreira, they knocked out Beşiktaş (3-1 h) and Benfica (2-1 h) in their first two qualifying ties, only to lose 2-1 in both legs of their play-off against Krasnodar. • That means PAOK have extended their record of having participated in every season of the UEFA Europa League to a 12th successive year. Last season they lost on away goals to Slovan Bratislava in the play-offs (0-1 a, 3-2 h), but they are back in the group stage this term for a record-equalling eighth time. Four of their previous seven participations have extended into the knockout phase but never beyond the round of 32. Their most recent group campaign, in 2018/19, was their poorest yet as they lost five of their six games and finished bottom of a group headed by eventual winners Chelsea. • The Salonika side lost all three home fixtures in that 2018/19 group stage and have won just two of their last 14 at the Stadio Toumba in the UEFA Europa League proper (D5 L7), ending a five-match winless run incorporating an opening-night 1-1 draw against Omonoia with a 4-1 victory against PSV, under new interim coach Pablo García, on Matchday 3. Granada • Granada earned a historic first qualification for European competition by finishing seventh in the 2019/20 Spanish Liga, having been promoted just the season before. • Diego Martínez's side began the club's maiden continental voyage in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round, kicking off with a 4-0 win at Albanian side Teuta before sealing further progress with a 2-0 home win against Locomotive Tbilisi of Georgia and a 3-1 play-off success against Malmö in southern Sweden. • Although they have dropped five Group E points at home, Granada have a perfect European record outside Spain of four wins from four, including two in the group stage against PSV (2-1) and Omonoia (2-0). Links and trivia • PAOK's Icelandic international defender Sverrir Ingason spent the second half of 2016/17 with Granada, making 17 appearances and scoring one goal. • José Ángel Crespo, the PAOK defender, is an Andalusian native born 170km from Granada. He started his career at Sevilla and has had loan spells at Racing Santander, Córdoba and Rayo Vallecano. • Crespo played alongside Granada club captain Víctor Díaz in Sevilla's youth teams. • Granada defender Jesús Vallejo skippered Spain to victory in the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in the Greek city of Katerini, 70km from Salonika. • PAOK's eighth appearance in the UEFA Europa League proper is a Greek record, one more than Olympiacos. • Their Matchday 2 stalemate at Granada means that PAOK have recorded more goalless draws in the UEFA Europa League, group stage to final, than any other club, their tally of eight being one more than Liverpool. • The Spanish club are one of six UEFA Europa League group stage debutants this season alongside CSKA-Sofia (Group A), Leicester City (G), Sivasspor (I), Royal Antwerp (J) and Omonoia, who are also in Group E. They are also one of three, alongside Leicester and Antwerp, who have already booked their place in the round of 32. 4 PAOK FC - Granada CF Thursday 10 December 2020 - 18.55CET (19.55 local time) Match press kit Stadio Toumba, Salonika 5 PAOK FC - Granada CF Thursday 10 December 2020 - 18.55CET (19.55 local time) Match press kit Stadio Toumba, Salonika Team facts PAOK FC Formed: 1926 Nickname: Dikefalos tou Vora (Two-Headed Eagle of the North) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 3 (2019) Greek Cup: 7 (2019) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2019/20: play-offs (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2018/19: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2017/18: play-offs 2016/17: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2015/16: group stage 2014/15: group stage 2013/14: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2012/13: play-offs 2011/12: round of 32 2010/11: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 6-0: PAOK v Lokomotiva Zagreb 23/07/15, UEFA Europa League second qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win 0-7: Lokomotivi Tbilisi v PAOK 16/09/99, UEFA Cup first round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-4: PAOK v Benfica 29/08/18, UEFA Champions League play-off second leg 0-3 four times, most recently v Schalke 16/02/17, UEFA Europa League round of 32 first leg • Heaviest away defeat 6-1: Barcelona v PAOK 01/10/75, UEFA Cup first round second leg UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 6-0: PAOK v Lokomotiva Zagreb (see above) • Biggest away win 0-7: Lokomotivi Tbilisi v PAOK (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-3 three times, most recently v Schalke (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 6-1: Barcelona v PAOK (see above) Granada CF Formed: 1931 Nickname: Nazaríes (Nasrids), El Graná UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) None 6 PAOK FC - Granada CF Thursday 10 December 2020 - 18.55CET (19.55 local time) Match press kit Stadio Toumba, Salonika Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2019/20: did not take part in UEFA competition 2018/19: did not take part in UEFA competition 2017/18: did not take part in UEFA competition 2016/17: did not take part in UEFA competition 2015/16: did not take part in UEFA competition 2014/15: did not take part in UEFA competition 2013/14: did not take part in UEFA competition 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA competition 2011/12:
