SPRING SESSION #49--A season shy of the Golden Anniversary, the Royals open their 49th exhibition campaign here this afternoon...today is the first of 35 games this spring, 17 of which will be contested here, 16 as the home club, while today is the only “road” game for KC in Surprise...included in the home schedule will be a WBC exhibition against the squad from Venezuela on Wednesday, March 8, prior to Venezuela’s trip to Mexico to open their portion of the tournament...the spring schedule also features two split squad dates on March 4 and March 16...the exhibition schedule will conclude with a two-game stop in Arlington, TX, against these Rangers prior to heading to Minneapolis to open the 2017 regular season on Monday, April 3...there are also a trio of off days in this WBC spring on March 9, 23 and 30th.
