1- PRESENTATION

Dear Competitors,

The forthcoming 2018 takes place from 22nd to 28th January 2018, one week later than usual, both in the hope of greater snow coverage and to allow more preparation time after end of year celebrations. Stages will be similar to last year with only a few modifications or replacements.

2018 will see the return of the new WRC cars after one year of use and fine-tuning, and the debut of new cars in lower categories, including the new Citroen C3R5 and Hyundai i20R5 and perhaps also the Toyota Yaris R5.

More than 395 km of Special Stages (SS) await you on the Alpine roads of Isere and Drome. You start from Monaco at the Place du Casino on Thursday 25th January 2018, with the first car leaving at 18:00. First you drive to Thoard for the SS 1 to Sisteron (36.58 km), and then continue to Bayons for the SS 2 to Bréziers (25.49 km), before eventually checking in at the Gap Service Park from 23:56 onwards and then continuing to the Parc Fermé.

Friday 26th January is the longest day of the competition with six SS, covering a total distance of 151.19 km, starting at 08:51 in the morning. SS 3 & 6 “Vitrolles – Oze” (26.72 km) will take you over 3 passes; SS 4 & 7 “Roussieux – Eygalayes” (33.67 km) include the Col St Jean pass; and the new SS 5 & 8 “Vaumeilh – Claret” (15.18 km) crosses a long and winding plateau and is sure to provide plenty of surprises… The first car is expected to arrive in Gap at about 18:00 in the evening.

There are a total of 5 SS on Saturday 27th January, starting with the 29.16 km “Agnieres en Devoluy – Corps” (SS 9 & 11), which has been modified after Monestier d’Ambel; then “St Léger les Mélèzes - La Bâtie Neuve” (SS 10 & 12), 16.87 km with start and finish moved slightly; and the last stage of the day SS 13 “Bayons – Bréziers”, which will be familiar, having been run on Thursday evening (SS 2). You then make your way to the Gap Service Park for the last time, before heading to Monaco, with arrival expected at about 22:00.

On Sunday 28th January, the top 60 cars on the leaderboard will be selected to drive two SS, each twice: SS 14 & 16 “La Bollène Vésubie - Peira Cava” (18.41 km), using the same itinerary as in 2017, and SS 15 & 17 “La Cabanette - Col de Braus” (13.58 km), which is completely new and will comprise the on the second run, starting from 12:18. SS 12 and 17 will be televised and broadcast live.

The traditional Prize-giving Ceremony for all teams takes place at 15:00 on the Place du Palais Princier, and, completing the event, the Gala Dinner, at 20:30, will mark the end of this first leg of the FIA .
