A two-time finalist for STATS FCS Coach of the Year (2015, 2018), Schmitt has seen nine players invited to NFL rookie camps over the past four seasons.

In his 15th season at the helm in 2019, Schmitt became the program’s leader in victories with a 30-21 triumph over Saint Francis U on Nov. 2 at Arthur J. Rooney Field, winning his 98th game at Duquesne and passing Greg Gattuso.

He led the Dukes to their seventh consecutive winning season and 11th overall in his 15 years as head coach in 2019, as well.
