Sunday, May 30th, 2021 Fast and Testimony Meeting –, 9:45 – 11:00 AM: ****Please Read**** Some provincial indoor meeting restrictions for faith-based groups were lifted earlier this week back to 15% of fire code effective May 28, 2021. We should be able to accommodate any members at the 24th Street chapel who wish to attend Sacrament meeting, socially distanced in cohort groups and fully masked. To tune in to Fast and Testimony meeting, or to bear your testimony from home: - Note – we have had some technical trouble broadcasting our Zoom meeting to YouTube. For F&T meeting we will use Zoom only for all participants. - Use Zoom link and passcode: https://zoom.us/j/96504599056 / Passcode: sacrament - Please remember to keep your audio muted throughout the meeting unless bearing testimony. We have defaulted the meeting to “mute all participants upon entry” to avoid participants needing to press “mute” immediately. Thank you! - During the testimony sharing portion of the meeting, please Indicate through the chat that you would like to bear your testimony. A member of the bishopric will monitor the chat and put through participants in order, including those participating from home and in person at the chapel. - Please make sure that when it is your turn to participate that you UNMUTE in Zoom. Please ensure that you MUTE in Zoom once you have concluded your testimony.

For those attending Sacrament Meeting in person: - Please arrive early. Although Sacrament meeting will start at 10 AM, we need Aaronic Priesthood aged boys and Melchizedek Priesthood brethren to help with the Sacrament! One and all: please come early, enjoy the Spirit and listen to the beautiful prelude music. - Mandatory COVID-19 public health measures are in place across the province. Please wear a mask always covering both your nose and mouth except for partaking of the Sacrament and speaking from the pulpit. If you forget a mask at home, single-use masks will be available in the South Foyer. 15% of Fire Code capacity remains in place, but we do not expect to exceed our attendance limit. All who wish to attend are welcome. For all those who do not have capacity to provide sacrament at home, please come! - Please do not congregate inside or outside the Chapel either prior to, or after our Sacrament meeting. This is not an ideal situation for any church congregation; however, we must abide by the direction given by the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta to not socialize outside of cohort or family groups. Make your way in an orderly fashion to the West exit unless you will be helping with post-Sacrament clean up. Thank you!

Thursdays at 7 PM, Relief Society Emotional Resilience Meeting, In-person only, in the RS Room: Part of becoming like the Savior includes facing challenges and hardships during this life. Dealing with life’s challenges successfully requires faith in Jesus Christ and emotional resilience. Emotional resilience is: • The ability to adapt to emotional challenges with courage and faith centered in Jesus Christ. • Helping yourself and others the best you can. • Reaching out for additional help when needed. Learning some basic skills for dealing with life’s challenges and disappointments can help us prepare to face hardships with emotional resilience. Here are some of the principles of emotional resilience: • Developing Healthy Thinking Patterns • Understanding Our Body and Emotions • Managing Difficult Emotions • Building Healthy Relationships • Providing Strength to Others Check out this article: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/life/tips-for-becoming-emotionally- resilient?lang=eng for more information. You can access the course material online here: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/emotional-resilience-for-self-reliance?lang=eng We will be hosting an Emotional Self-Reliance Course for the sisters in Canyon Creek Ward. We have worked hard to gain all approvals to have it in our ward. This class will be for sisters only and will be led by Karen Bagshaw on Thursday evenings at 7pm in the Relief Society Room of the 24th Street Chapel. All health mandates will be followed and masks must be worn in the church building at all times. To ensure that we are well within our occupancy limits, we'd ask for you to reply to [email protected] to sign up for the class. This will be an opportunity to grow emotionally, as well as spiritually. As with many of the self-reliance courses, it will also be an opportunity to build lasting relationships within the group. We hope that if you are feeling lost, lonely, overwhelmed, or perhaps even just needing an evening once a week with your sisters in the gospel, that you will come and learn with us

Sunday, June 13th, Face to Face for Single Adults 31+, at 4 PM: Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and President Jean B. Bingham and Sister Sharon Eubank of the Relief Society General Presidency will host a Face to Face event for single adults ages 31 and older on June 13, 2021. “We know that many single adults are facing difficult challenges or have questions or concerns,” said Elder Andersen, adding that “the Savior’s love can heal every sorrow. Single adults make up over 50 percent of the adult membership of the Church, noted Sister Bingham. “That is a significant audience!” she said. “We look forward to having a conversation with them about their contributions to the kingdom, their capacity to serve others, and their love of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Sister Eubanks said that as a single adult herself, she is happy to have this open conversation with other single adults. “Every member, no matter their circumstances, has so much to contribute,” she said, “and we hope to better recognize this of members of the Church.” Added Elder Andersen, “To those adults, whether you have never been married or are widowed, divorced, or a single parent, you are needed in God’s kingdom. We are grateful for all you do to progress the work of the Lord.” Shortly after the live event, a recording of the devotional will be archived and available for on- demand viewing on face2face.ChurchofJesusChrist.org, Gospel Media, YouTube, Gospel Library and other channels.

2021 Youth Theme: President Russell M. Nelson has invited every young woman and every young man to “enlist in the youth battalion of the Lord to help gather Israel” (“Hope of Israel” [worldwide youth devotional, June 3, 2018], HopeofIsrael.ChurchofJesusChrist.org). In response to the prophet’s invitation, and in coordination with the course of study for seminary and Come, Follow Me, the youth theme chosen for 2021 is “Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great. Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind” (Doctrine and Covenants 64:33–34). Parents and youth leaders are encouraged to teach principles from the theme scripture at home and at church throughout the year. In addition, the theme can be used as a topic for sacrament meeting talks given by youth and to provide focus for youth activities, including camps, youth conferences, and devotionals. The theme will also be emphasized during FSY conferences worldwide. Resources—including music, videos, and art—will be available on the Church website, in social media channels, and in the new For the Strength of Youth magazine. An email will be sent to leaders later this year when these resources become available.
