Libro P Partite Insights Giornata Matchday 23 Serie A TIM 2020-21 19 - 22 February 2021 19/02/2021 18:30 - ARTEMIO FRANCHI FIORENTINA Vs SPEZIA The only previous Serie A TIM game between Fiorentina and Spezia was the reverse meeting this season, a 2-2 draw; the Viola have won only two of their last 13 games against newly promoted teams in Serie A TIM (D4 L7). Fiorentina won their last Serie A TIM home game against a newly promoted team (2-1 against Crotone), while they haven't recorded two straight such wins since February 2016 under Paulo Sousa. Fiorentina have lost their last two Serie A TIM games and could suffer three consecutive defeats in the competition for the first time since December 2019 under Vincenzo Montella (four). Fiorentina have picked up 22 points so far this season; in the three points for a win era, the Viola only had fewer at this stage of a campaign in 2001/02, when they had 17 points. After their 0-2 defeat against Inter at the beginning of February, Fiorentina could fail to score in two consecutive Serie A TIM home games for the first time since May 2019. Spezia have earned 24 points so far. Among sides playing their first ever season in Serie A TIM in the three points for a win era, only Chievo in 2001/02 had a better tally from their opening 22 games (37). Spezia could become the fourth team in Serie A TIM history to score 11 consecutive goals each via a different player within a single season (excluding own goals), after Juventus in 2008/09, Lecce in 2011/12 and Inter in 2019/20 (12 in a row). Spezia are the only team in Serie A TIM this season to have gained fewer points against teams in the bottom half of the table (11) than against teams in the top half (13). M'Bala Nzola, who has not played in Serie A TIM since 11 January, has scored nine goals in 13 league games this season, 39% of Spezia’s goals in that period. After January 11th, Spezia have had seven different league scorers, with none netting more than once. Spezia’s Riccardo Saponara played 31 league games and scored two goals for Fiorentina. His next game will be his 150th appearance in the top-flight. 19/02/2021 20:45 - SARDEGNA ARENA CAGLIARI Vs TORINO Cagliari are unbeaten in five Serie A TIM meetings with Torino, following up three consecutive draws with back-to-back wins. This unbeaten streak came after six defeats in seven such meetings beforehand (D1). In the three points for a victory era, Cagliari have lost only three home games against Torino (W6 D4): among teams they have faced at least 12 times in this spell, only against Bologna (two) have they lost fewer home games in Serie A TIM. Cagliari are winless in 15 games in Serie A TIM (D5 L10); the Rossoblù have not had a worse such run since 2005, when they went 22 games without a win. Cagliari have picked up 15 points in their first 22 league games this season, equalling their lowest tally at this stage of the season in the era of three points for a win (also 2007/08). Torino have drawn their last five Serie A TIM games; only on three occasions have they drawn six in a row in the competition, most recently in 1967. Torino are without a win in their last four away games against teams that started the matchday lower than themselves in the Serie A TIM table (D2 L2) Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan has attempted more shots than any player yet to score in Serie A TIM this season (20). Cagliari striker Giovanni Simeone has scored more Serie A TIM goal against Torino than any other opponent (six); he also has two match-winning assists against them, while his last brace in Serie A TIM was also versus Torino in October. Torino forward Andrea Belotti has scored six goals and provided five assists against Cagliari in Serie A TIM; only against Sassuolo (12, nine goals and three assists) has he been involved more in the top-flight. 20/02/2021 15:00 - OLIMPICO LAZIO Vs SAMPDORIA Lazio lost their last game in Serie A TIM against Sampdoria (0-3, October 2020), having remained unbeaten in their previous eight such matches against them beforehand (W7 D1); the Biancocelesti could lose both encounters against Sampdoria in a single top-flight campaign for the first time since 1991/92. Lazio are unbeaten in their last 14 home games against Sampdoria in Serie A TIM (W11 D3), their second-longest ongoing unbeaten run against a single side at home in the competition, behind only their 22-game run versus Triestina (who they last faced in the top-flight in 1959). Lazio lost their last league game after previously enjoying a streak of six consecutive victories; they could lose back-to-back league matches for the first time since July (3). Lazio have won each of their last five home league games, last winning six in a row at home in Serie A TIM back in February 2020 (7). Lazio have earned more points in 2021 than any other side in Serie A TIM (19 – W6 D1 L1). Sampdoria are unbeaten in their last two away games in Serie A TIM (W1 D1); they last avoided defeat in three in a row back in December 2018 under Marco Giampaolo. Lazio have scored more goals from direct free-kicks than any other side in Serie A TIM this season (3). On the other hand, Sampdoria have conceded only one league goal from outside the box in 2020/21, a joint-low in the competition. Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been involved in 11 goals in Serie A TIM this season (5 goals, 6 assists), only doing better in 2017-18, when he had an hand in 15 league goals (12 goals, 3 assists). Lazio striker Ciro Immobile has scored 12 goals in his 13 games against Sampdoria in Serie A TIM, more than against any other opponent in the top-flight. Immobile has five goals in his last two league matches against them. Mikkel Damsgaard scored his first goal in Serie A TIM against Lazio in the reverse fixture in October; amongst Sampdoria midfielders who scored their first goal in the three points for a win era, only Askildsen and Seedorf were younger than Damsgaard. 20/02/2021 18:00 - LUIGI FERRARIS GENOA Vs HELLAS VERONA Genoa have lost only one of their last nine league games against Verona (W5 D3). Since the 2014/15 season, only against Cagliari (20) have the Rossoblù gained more points than they have against the Gialloblù (18). Genoa have won each of their last six Serie A TIM home games against Verona: the Rossoblù only have a longer ongoing streak of home top-flight wins against Venezia (seven). Genoa are unbeaten in six games in a row (W4 D2) in Serie A TIM for the first time since March 2019, and have not gone seven without a loss since December 2014, when they reached nine under Gian Piero Gasperini. Genoa have kept more Serie A TIM clean sheets in 2021 than any other side (five), while only Manchester City and Lille have kept more in the big-five European leagues this calendar year. Genoa have won their last three Serie A TIM home games; the last time they picked up four home wins in a row was a streak of five in April 2016. Verona have 33 points after 22 games this season; in the era of three points per win in Serie A TIM, they have only had a better tally at this stage of the season in 2013/14 (35). Verona have lost their last three Serie A TIM away games, while the last time they endured a longer run was May 2018 (a run of eight). In addition to Verona, the only other team that Ivan Juric has coached in Serie A TIM are Genoa (between 2016 and 2018, 51 games, nine wins, 14 draws). Under Davide Ballardini this season with Genoa, Mattia Destro is averaging a goal every 88 minutes in Serie A TIM (six goals in eight games), while under Rolando Maran he was at averaging a goal every 125 (three goals in 10 appearances). Verona forward Kevin Lasagna made his Serie A TIM debut at Ferraris against Sampdoria in August 2015 with Carpi. He has he scored three goals against Genoa in Serie A TIM, his joint-most against a single side. 20/02/2021 20:45 - MAPEI STADIUM SASSUOLO Vs BOLOGNA Sassuolo have won each of their last three Serie A TIM meetings against Bologna; they had only won two of their previous 10 against them before this (D3 L5). Sassuolo’s two home Serie A TIM wins over Bologna were their first and most recent such matches against them, playing out three defeats and one draw inbetween. Since the second half of October, Sassuolo have never had the same result in two successive Serie A TIM matches. In their last 19 league games, they recorded seven wins, six draws and six defeats (victory against Crotone last time out). Sassuolo lost their last home league game, and could lose two in a row for the first time since October 2019 (three). Sassuolo have found the net in their last 12 Serie A TIM matches and they could set a new club record in the competition should they find the net in this match (13).

  • AC Milan's New Owners Target Return to Champions LEAGUE
SPORTS SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 2017 Rattled Dortmund seek solace after bus attack BERLIN: Borussia Dortmund face the difficult chal- lenge of recovering from Tuesday’s frightening bomb attack on their team bus as they prepare to host Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga this week- end. Players and staff alike were badly shaken after their team coach was rocked by three explosions on the way to Signal Iduna Park ahead of their Champions League tie against Monaco. Defender Marc Bartra underwent emergency sur- gery on a fractured wrist and to remove glass that became planted in his arm after the blast shattered windows on the Dortmund bus. His team-mates also felt the psychological effects, losing 3-2 to Monaco after their quarter-final first leg was pushed back to Wednesday. Many in the Dortmund squad said they had not wanted to play, while manager Thomas Tuchel railed at the decision to reschedule the match less than 24 hours after the planned kick-off. “Unless you experienced it, you can’t understand how bad it was for us,” said defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos. “I am just happy to be alive, it was the worst day of my life,” he added, referring to the MILAN: From left, David Han Li, Yonghong Li, and Marco Fassone, pose with AC Milan jerseys during a press night of the attack. But European football’s governing body rejected the claim, insisting that both clubs had AC Milan’s new owners target agreed to play on Wednesday.
