Hitfyldt ep De fem medlemmer af R5 spiller helst deres musik på én måde; og det er højt. Loud var også navnet på bandets første ep, der sendte deres fængende poprock-sange i rotation på de amerikanske radiostationer. Ep’en strøg direkte ind i top tre på iTunes- listen inden for 24 timer efter, den var udgivet. Glee-stjerne R5 består af de fire søskende Riker, Rydel, Rocky og Ross Lynch samt deres ven (Ellington) Ratliff. Ep-singlen ”Here Comes Forever” er skrevet af de tre brødre og minder ifølge Riker om en kæmpestor, højrystet fest. Debutalbummet Louder udkom i september og sikrede R5 en nominering som ”Best Music Group” til Radio Disney pris-showet. Førstesinglen fra albummet er den følsomme ”Pass Me By”. Albummet følger op på bandets eksplosive succes, efter Riker har medvirket i tv-serien Austin & Ally samt den populære musical drama-serie Glee. Samarbejde med Beyonces sangskriver Den gode stemning fra Glee går igen i R5s musik, som bandet selv kalder for positiv og lys. For at ramme den rigtige stemning arbejde kvintetten på Loud sammen med Emanuel “Eman” Kiriakou (Selena Gomez, Hot Chelle Rae) og Evan “Kidd” Bogart, der vandt en grammy for at have skrevet Beyonce-hittet ”Halo”. Familieprojekt +1 Lynch-søskendeflokken har spillet og skrevet musik, siden de var små. Men de manglede en trommeslager for at bandet kunne blive en realitet.
